La Mara was wonderful! The drive is long, but incredibly scenic and the actual location is the epitome of picturesque. The host is kind and welcoming, and our room was cozy and comfortable for our one-night stay. We loved the landscaping and spent plenty of time walking around and exploring the paths even with our short visit. Another wonderful part of the stay is the living room/common area - there are books, games, a fireplace, and even a piano! It was a great place to relax and be around others also staying at the B&B. Also -- breakfast is amazing! I HIGHLY recommend La Mara for a couple nights' stay. If you want to truly experience the location, I recommend more than one night. We only stayed for one night and DEFINITELY did not get to see/experience everything!

I loved the rustic country feel of the place. We felt very comfortable and welcomed. The food was amazing, filling and tasty!

The only two things I didn't like were the noise above when we were trying to sleep. This was due to being downstairs and the kitchen above us. After the dinner guests left and cleanup was happening, the sound of footsteps back and forth was loud above our heads until after 11pm. The other thing was the length of time we waited in between services for dinner. We arrived at 6:30 pm and finished our desert after 9pm.

Mostly everything was great at La Mara! There was a welcoming warmth and a relaxed ambiance that made you feel at home from the moment you stepped into the place. It was almost like entering into an enchanted universe of vintage memorabilia, like taking a stroll down memory lane. It certainly has the ability of taking you elsewhere and creating a disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the modern day.

When up in the room we were provided, we noticed a fair amount of bugs from ants to flies to lady bugs and other things. Mind you, this auberge is located in the woods, so that would be expected. However, we were visiting in late February, so it was rather unsettling to have to kill so many critters in such a short stay. Also, the soundproofing of the place is ZERO. The was a game room right below our bedroom and we could make out every single word of every conversation taking place downstairs. Every roll of the dice was so obvious, we could almost make out the results of each roll!

From the minute we parked our car we were greeted by serenity and a smiling face. The bed was great. The food awesome.

The biggest complaint we had was that the wifi did not work in our room but everywhere else. And considering we were there to relax and enjoy it really isn't that big a complaint at all.

Staying at La Mara was very relaxing. It is an interesting Inn with a lot of history. The host was welcoming. Breakfast was delicious!

Everything was perfect! Beyond amazing! Incredibly unique, historical, rural, comfortable, welcoming, and amazing food!

The breakfast was fantastic. It was a gourmet Breakfast. My children and I loved it. Our room was very big and comfy. I loved the homemade soaps and shampoos. The owner was very easygoing.

Absolutely warm, cozy, friendly stay. The owner was attentive and friendly and went out of her way to accommodate us and our needs. I’m vegan and she created a full vegan menu for me. She also anticipated all needs, down to the water bottles and cups accessible at all times. We’ll be coming back for sure.

The only downside is the water was not drinkable and has a sulfur door.
