Room and hotel are in a classic old Chinese building. Beautiful. Quiet and relaxing courtyard. The owners are lovely and helpful, working with phone translator apps to be sure we have everything we need. We decided to leave a day early as there was less to see in Pingyao than we expected, and the hosts helped us to arrange transport to the train station. Location is great - steps to the main tourist streets and attractions.

The beds are traditional Chinese platform beds - a wooden platform with a bedroll on top. This is the experience we were looking for, but 2 of our 4 family members found them OK, the other 2 (myself included) found them uncomfortable and hard. Just to keep in mind when you are choosing an authentic stay. Additionally, similar in the bathroom - there is a toilet and sink, and the showerhead is just in front of them - no separate shower stall - you just stand next to the toilet and sink and shower. Functional, hot water, but not a luxury stay.

Staying at Pingyao Ji Family Courtyard Inn in Pingyao was a truly memorable and wonderful experience for me. The hotel has been brilliantly refurbished and equipped with modern hotel amenities (e.g air conditioning, modern toilets and showers, etc) in a manner that makes it extremely comfortable and convenient, yet without lessening the authentic, old feel which makes it so appealing.I feel it was the exceptional hospitality and genuine friendliness of the staff that made my stay so great.

Staff were very friendly and helpful even with limited English. Organised taxis to and from train station. Location excellent, beautiful courtyard, and all clean. Great Chinese traditional furniture in room but it’s all very dark brown, so makes the room look/feel dark.

The only negative is that the windows cannot open, so u need the door open to get fresh air in room.

It is a very old building that has been modified and renovated into an hotel. Lovely outside courtyards for relaxing. The rooms are comfortable with enormous beds. In a quiet area of the city but within walking distance of most places. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Varies activities and transport can be organised by staff.

The hotel is a very nice place. The courtyards around which the guest rooms are located give the whole hotel a familiar and friendly atmosphere. It it beautiful, calm, very clean and all the staff are trying the best to support the guests. Highlight of our visit to China. We loved Pingyao and were delighted by the hotel.

This hotel is exactly how the pictures depict it. It’s simple but very charming. The lady that handles it is very nice, helpful and speak good English. I spent one night there and it was a good experience. It’s inside Pingyao Ancient City and very close to restaurants and local stores.

We had a great stay at the hotel. We were met at the train station and ferried quickly to the hotel. On arrival we were taken to our room. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a very large room at no extra cost. This hotel is highly recommended. The staff are very attentive and respectful.

The hotel is lovely, in a traditional courtyard-style house. It is beside the east gate, just inside the ancient town, so the location is great. They collected us from the train station and gave us lots of tips on places to visit and eat. Highly recommended.

Pingyao throws you back a couple centuries and this hotel happily keeps you in theme. If you’re a bit more laid back and like the idea of a super charming old-timey China experience then you’re in the right place. The owner is helpful and speaks English.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Pingyao.Staff are helpful, cheerful and friendly. The hotel is the perfect place to stay in Pingyao. It's close to the main street, authentic in nature, but with modern amenities to ensure your stay is comfortable.
