Great location for an early flight. Close to the airport. Near a bunch of restaurants and a nice local park. Enjoyed our quick one night stay over.

Our flight arrived after our rental car office was closed, so this was a great place to spend the night, close to the airport. I appreciated that we could be in the same room as our 3 children. The breakfast was fine. The staff were wonderful, so polite and helpful.

There was a little confusion with the shuttle. Once we arrived, we texted (through WhatsApp) that we had arrived & that there were 5 of us. They gave me a taxi number to look for. After a decent length of time, a small car, with a different number, pulled up, saying the name of this hotel. Luckily my husband spoke Spanish, and it sounded like something had happened to the car on the way for us. I texted the hotel and they said this number was OK, so we tried to get in. It was a tight squeeze with the driver, plus five of us, 2 suitcases, carry-ons, and backpacks. We made it work, but a car more suited to the size of our family would have been much better. I'm not sure if this happens often, or if there was a problem with the larger car.

A great location to explore Alelujia, which had lots to see and do. We didn't bother going into Central San Jose, as planned, given all that the local area offered. Room was comfortable with lovely seating area outside, and staff were attentive and helpful. We arrived after an early flight and were able to leave luggage and get changed before going out to explore. Good advice about places to eat and what to see. Cathedral was beautiful and National Culture Museum was excellent, with free entry and performers entertaining visitors. Amazing coffee shop just one street away. Felf perfectly safe walking the neighbourhood in daytime. Airport transfer was a bonus.

Swimming pool was closed for duration of our stay. A real shame as a refreshing swim would have been most welcome, after 2 days of travelling.

Amazing location just a few blocks away from some parks, museums, and the central market. Also just about 10 minutes drive away from the SJO airport. Room stayed cool with the AC running. Front desk staff was helpful. Parking was easy enough, if not a bit confusing initially. You get a voucher and park around the block in a monitored lot.

Free breakfast didn't have much that I'd call healthy, outside some generic bananas and apples. I'd love to see boiled eggs, maybe some real cheese. Overall it's better than nothing, but we went outside the hotel for a real breakfast. Beds are a bit old and you can feel the springs, but that didn't cause any issues for us. More sensitive backs might find it problematic.

There are mixed reviews for this place which I don’t understand - they almost put me off and I am so glad I went ahead with the booking. This is fantastic value for money, you get one airport transfer per stay (I think per stay not per night), the staff speak amazing English if needed and are very knowledgeable. The pool is clean and refreshing. The rooms have air conditioning. I don’t really know how you could get more for your money. I didn’t try the breakfast as we left too early - which was also included! It’s also near some very good restaurants but this amazingly reviewed Italian was closed when we were there. The only negative is the automated pre arrival emails were a little confusing but there are hourly shuttles to the airport so if you are leaving you just let them know the time on arrival.

The automated emails fine but was a bit unclear re shuttles. Should say if going to airport shuttles run hourly and you reserve on arrival. Maybe less automation when people respond to emails as gets confusing.

The breakfast every morning was simple but gave a great start to the day. For the length of stay, one week, I was happy to have a balcony room as it made the room more airy feeling. The pool was small but very refreshing and kept very clean. The entire motel was well maintained and always cleaned non-stop. Loved the location and close to stores, parks, restaurants and more. Staff were friendly, accommodating and great to see every day! Thank you.

The short stay, but that was my fault. Hope to visit again one day!

Hotel La Guaria was a charming little hotel which was perfect for my late arrival to Costa Rica. The manager communicated through Whatsapp and sent a taxi to pick me up at 1 am. The hotel is quaint and clean. The room was fine for me and the water pressure in the bathroom was excellent. The air conditioner in my room didn't work, but the ceiling fan kept the room comfortable enough to sleep. Breakfast was simple, but plenty. The pool and surrounding garden was a peaceful place to cool off, read and relax. The front desk staff were kind, helpful and informative! The cleaning staff were friendly and helpful. I was able to leave my bags at the hotel for several hours after checkout while visiting town, before leaving for San Jose.

Location was perfect for the airport, and access to central Alajuela with restaurants, grocery, park, etc. The airport shuttle was convenient. The rooms were small but nice with AC. A basic breakfast was provided with breads and fruits for vegetarians. The pool and courtyards made the stay feel even more relaxing like an oasis in the city. Would stay here again.

The communication with directions to find the airport shuttle were a little unclear, but it worked out. They also only cover one way from the airport. I had to return the next morning for a domestic flight and they charged me $9. This wasn’t bad, but would’ve been nice to know up front when booking. For the breakfast, it would be nice to have ingredient labels by the bread selection for people with dietary preferences or restrictions like dairy & eggs. It was also strange walking through a storage garage to get to my room, but it was pretty clean.

The shuttle from La Guaria to the airport was on time and drove us perfectly at the airport. The breakfast were great and at a really convenient time. The rooms are small but it is ok! We are there to sleep :-) and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was amazing to help us with our trip to San Jose. They arranged a taxi for us to get there and back! I really enjoyed having a staff member available 24hres a day. We were also able to leave our big luggage at the hotel while we travelled around the country for 8 days. When we came back our luggage were untouched and exactly the way we left them!

Nothing to change! Everything was great!
