I could walk to this hotel from the Alaluela bus station, though sidewalks were poor for wheeling a suitcase. Easy transport by bus to San José and only a 10-minute taxi/Uber ride to the airport. The bed in the room was large enough to put my suitcase on one side of it. To save money, I booked a room with shared bath. The shower had hot water and the small bathroom was moderately clean. The bed was OK. Plenty of shops and restaurants around the hotel. There was a garden where you could sit and a kitchen which had a fridge that could be used, and a microwave. A small breakfast was included in the price. There was a TV very high up that got lots of cable channels, even CNN. Most of the staff were friendly.

There was no air conditioning in my room and no window. Even with the little fan aimed at me, the room was still stuffy. The mattress and pillows were quite lumpy but manageable. One receptionist with dark curly hair, who worked a shift until 9pm, was very unpleasant and acted like you were disturbing her watching videos if you needed to ask her a question.

We had Room 1 (standard double with bathroom) which is a nice cool internal room with plenty of space and a window on to a light well which provides good ventilation. The bedding was clean and the room tidy. The family running the hotel are friendly and helpful and made us fell very welcome. We started and finished our holiday at Hotel Pacande which is perfect for access to the airport and not in the hustle & bustle of San Jose. Alajuela is a nice town with good restaurants and shops.

The ceiling fan only had an on/off switch rather than a controller, so it ran at full speed and was noisy. There was no hot water for the shower.

Simple and cozy hotel for a great price- but what really sets it apart from other places is the staff. Viktoria, John and Jani was an awesome host- helping restless, kindly with the near options, such as restaurants, car mechanics, and anything I was asking for. Here i experienced the local knowledge and hospitality that beats every place i ever been . Awesome work, keep it up guys, I am sure i will be back!

I could say small things - but I won't, the positive things were overwhelming on the human side. Genuine people, no mistakes were made here.

Excellent price, extremely convenient, close to the airport, and lots of shopping within walking distance. Great, very attentive, courteous, accommodating staff. The place was clean and spacious, and it felt safe. It was open 24-hrs. Someone attended us promptly upon our flight arrival, even though it was 2AM. We were so happy about that.

The room had 2 holes on the wall by one of the beds. The hostel hallways and entrance were extremely dark, somewhat scary. The front facade was dark, somewhat uninviting. The lobby looked crowded with furniture and somewhat uninviting.

The room was spacious, clean and the bed was comfortable. The shower was hot and the location was good and easy to find with secure overnight parking a few minutes walk down the road. The member of staff who checked us in was lovely and kind and had messaged us on WhatsApp to confirm our arrival time when we were a bit late. The check in/out times are great also. Although we only stayed one night it was a pleasant experience and we would stay again.

Rooms and common areas are clean and comfortable.. Staff is friendly, courteous, go out of their way to be helpful, know the neighborhood well, are able and willing to give directions and advice about local restaurants and stores, transportation, and call taxis if needed. Breakfast is simple but well-prepared to order. Location super convenient.

Lighting in the rooms goes on and off at times.

The complimentary breakfast was delicious (gallo pinto!) and the location is in close proximity to airport. They arrange your airport shuttle for you as well.

An on-demand water heater in the shower would be nice. Even a cheap suicide shower would do! It's a bit chilly in San Jose and the ice cold shower was a bit shocking to endure. jajaja

The staff was helpful and kind

Be aware that the property is in the middle of the city and you need to pay to park in a secure lot down the road if you have a car. We had accidentally booked a room with a shared bathroom, but were able to upgrade for a few upon arrival. The building is older and shows its age.

Nice hot shower! Very clean which I appreciated very much. Breakfast was nice served by very nice thoughtful staff. In fact all of the staff was quite pleasant. Hall a bit noisy w clients talking in hallway at 4:00am but that was not the hotels fault. This is more boarding rooms versus hotel in my estimation, with shared baths down the hall and no outside windows but the hallway has outdoor air coming through from the back of the building. Excellent bathrooms. Good for basic sleeping.

Center location and nice breakfast area. They also have storage for your luggage. Breakfast is ok

Staff is mobile phone addicted and not customer service. But depends on who is on duty. Had both experience. Extremely nice and helpful but also super bored... rest is fine. Worn out and aged hotel and a bit overpriced but within limits
