We are regular guests at Hotel Croatia, and this was our third visit. Each time we usually stay for a week or longer because we truly love the location, the service, and the stunning Adriatic views. This holiday started off a little shaky, but thanks to the hotel’s General Manager, Mario, it quickly turned into one of our best experiences yet. I want to share this not in a negative way, but to highlight how well the hotel handled a small misunderstanding. Hotel Croatia currently offers two room styles – the newly refurbished modern rooms and the more classic rooms. I always book a sea view room, as enjoying evenings on the balcony with a glass of local wine while overlooking the Adriatic is one of the main reasons I return. This time, I didn’t realize that the refurbished rooms are located on floors 4 and below, which means the view is nice but not as spectacular as the higher floors. For me, the view is essential, so this was disappointing. When I raised the issue at reception, they kindly explained that I would need to speak with the manager. Once Mario understood the situation – and that we are returning guests who even recommended the hotel to our family – he immediately offered a solution. He asked us to stay in the room for one night, promised a room change the next day, and even invited us to enjoy dinner at the hotel’s Steak House as a gesture of goodwill. The next day, true to his word, Mario upgraded us to one of the best rooms in the hotel with an incredible panoramic sea view. From that moment on, our holiday was nothing short of perfect. A huge thank you to Hotel Croatia and especially to Mario for his professionalism, kindness, and genuine care for guests. This is why we keep coming back, and we’ve already decided to return again next summer. If you’re visiting Cavtat and want a hotel with breathtaking sea views, excellent service, and staff who truly go the extra mile, Hotel Croatia is the place to stay.

Everything!!! The hotel has a great location overlooking the beautiful Adriatic Sea. Each room has a balcony where morning coffee is a must. Greenery around the hotel is amazing. Facilities, friendly staff, breakfast, outdoor seating areas, etc. are really great. Buggies are available to transport guests to lower hotel's beach or to the walking path that takes you to amazing city of Cavtat.

The only thing was that some of the guests were "abusing" the system and booking too many sunbeds. Once, I counted 17 beds taken by 3 families (some used in the morning and some in the afternoon), while other guests were laying on the floor. Also, bringing their own music and disturbing others. I would suggest that the hotel needs to develop a system restricting the number of beds / towels per guest and maybe writing some instructions related to noise.

This was our second visit to the hotel and it was absolutely (once again) amazing. Staff were friendly and good-humored, the breakfast was delicious and had a wide range of foods. No words to describe the beauty of the sea and the view of every single corner of the hotel. Overall we had a relaxing and very a satisfying holiday, and will definitely plan a new journey as soon as possible😊 By the way, the guy named “Pero” who organized our transfers to&from the hotel was very kind and friendly. The floors down from the 5th definitely need a renovation. Our friends stayed at the 5th floor and the newly renovated room was very nice indeed.

Beautiful sea views and convenient caddy from hotel to town and back. Steakhouse had great steaks. The room decor is stylish and of good quality (real wood, stone). Convenient to visit Dubrovnik by boat.

It was very noisy in the breakfast room. Not enough variety at the breakfast and no fresh juice. The pool area was not cleaned often enough, there were a lot of pine needles on the ground and in the pool water. Not enough sun loungers for all guests. The glasses and cups in the room were changed to clean ones only after asking for it. The beach is very small and crowded, did not spend time there.

Hotel is large but doesn't seem so. Very spread out with lots of different areas to spend time in. Breakfast was always busy but again the staff seemed to cope well and plenty of choices available. Getting a table was never an issue and we never had to queue/wait. 130 steps up/down to the water's edge. No problem for anyone fit and able. We occasionally got the regular golf buggy back up in the evening if we'd had a few drinks but usually walked it. Room was nice, great view over Adriatic on 8th floor (ten in total - its built into the hillside so main entrance is between floors floors four & five). Great shower too. Staff were all extremely pleasant and welcoming. My wife dropped her pendant down the sink and they retrieved it for us whilst we were out without any fuss. Spinaker bar at the water's edge (so you have to exit the hotel and walk down) was a great place to lounge or have a drink or lunch. Water is crystal clear and roped off areas for swimming.

One niggle that annoyed me - I asked for an Aperol Spritz in the Piano bar and was served a glass of fizzy water with a small amount of Aperol and prosecco in it. I took it straight back and they refunded my card. I would have expected the staff making drinks to know the correct ratios rather than half fill the glass with soda.

The hotel's position is fantastic with a view on the open sea and Cavtat on the other side. The view is extraordinary from many points in the hotel open terraces, beach bar, swimming pool terrace, as well as rooms overlooking the sea. I think a sea view room is worth the extra cost. The rooms are generaly recently renovated, very nicely furnished with very comfortable beds.

We didn't get two rooms next to each other as we requested that 9 months before our trip nor two separate single beds in one of the room, but the receptionist Antonio solved the problem next day in a very kind and polite way. There are not enough sunbeds on the beaches for all the guests althoughthe hotel has two beaches, both are full around 10am. The capacity should be significantly higher for 5 stars hotel because the vast majority of guests come here for summer vacation, and it seems that the capacity of the beaches and pools are only satisfactory for about 70% of guests.

Very nice room, nice view of the sea.

The hotel is very close to Dubrovnik airport, which is convenient. The staff are lovely - very helpful. The sun terrace areas are fantastic. The spinnaker restaurant is really good too. Returning to the hotel from Cavtat could be challenging if you have mobility issues - there are lots of steep stairs to negotiate, however the hotel have a golf cart style vehicle to bring guests up and down.

The breakfast buffet was a bit samey and sometimes we had to wait a while before being offered tea and coffee. The housekeeping service was a bit haphazard. They came into the room several times, despite the Do Not Disturb sign being lit. Soap and shampoo dispensers were often not replenished. One time they left only hand towels, no bath towels.

Breakfast was great and especially sitting outside but only if you breakfasted after 7am. Pool area with showers lockers and changing rooms were excellent

We got a bit confused about whether we should be going up and down in the lifts and finding pool etc but soon got the hang of it

I’ve always been stubborn and against hotel stays (opting for a villa or apt instead for the freedom) but this ticked every box. We had visited Cavtat previously so I knew the location was perfect for a walk into town of an evening/to the coved beach during the day but the hotel had more than enough to keep entertained. The beach accessed from the rock/walkways from the south side of the hotel was perfect for swimming and snorkelling, pools were great for adults and kids, breakfast was spot on and never seemed too busy and the various bars/restaurants were always great.

Exterior a tad dated but hidden well with the line trees, really didn’t make a difference
