The fortress is amazing - the scale of it sitting atop the hill in Baiona is huge. It is calm and clean and beautifully furnished. So many spaces to relax in! Just a short walk from the bars and harbour of the town. Rather hot on way back uphill!! Food very good quality.

The pool is boring, could be improved with a shallow entrance point and a nice set of roman steps. Also not enough sun loungers for number of guests. Water cold! Seafood varied but not as good as the Parador in Pontevedra! Bar area a huge blank space - lacks character. And DO something about those pesky pigeons which land on tables!!

This Parador is located in an old fort along the river's edge. The property is beautiful, with lots of open spaces, a large dining room/breakfast room, and a great view. Our room was spectacular - large, with a seating area for winding down. Breakfast was excellent, as was the coffee.

The bar staff were wonderful, and the bar is large. However, it feels like a flexible space - could be a games room, a banquet room, etc. It didn't have the warmth of wood/stone that you might expect in bar in an old castle or converted fort. The outside terrace of the bar is lovely, but they need better control over birds. No on-site gift shop for last minute essentials. Like most of Spain, dining wasn't available until after 8pm - too late for most North American travelers, including ourselves, which forced us to find something/anything in the city.

This is the huge old fort in Baiona so an imposing historical building, with all the comfort that you'd expect from a Parador, including gigantic bathrooms with his and hers washbasins, separate shower and bath (with plug!). We arrived from Oia drenched so hot baths and air con to help dry clothes and shoes was very welcome. Excellent breakfast included, and the views from the ramparts are fabulous.

The size of the hotel made it feel quite impersonal, though staff were universally helpful. We arrived on a Saturday and coincided with a wedding party which didn't help. We'd also under-estimated the length of the imposing access road to reach the hotel, making it in the middle of town but still 15 minutes walk from bars/restaurants.

The location is absolutely gorgeous!!!Awesome views all around.Stunning heritage property but doesn't feel like it's properly managed and looked after.Very nice and friendly cleaning ladies and one waiter in the cafe.

The standard of rooms , restaurant and cafe doesn't match 4 star rating.Furniture is a bit run down and doesn't feel like any professional interior design has been applied. No eye for beauty, no attention to details.Breakfast buffet is not really generous and displayed in a very average way and no warm dishes, you have to order from the menu and they bring very small portions. Our omlettes were the smallest we have ever seen and the portion of vegetables was literally one table spoon and even when we asked for more next morning we still got the same.In the cafe when we ordered a fruit salad we got few pathetic pieces of fruits which looked like leftovers from breakfast.Shocking.

Stunning location. On a hillside overlooking the most beautiful bay, in an old medieval stronghold. Honestly one of the most scenic places I've ever been. The sunsets were incredible. Lovely hospitality experience, from easy check-in and friendly warm reception in English, to warm and personal service at breakfast and dinner. Wonderful Galician cuisine on-site for dinners; we enjoyed never having to walk down the hill to town (note that one of the restaurants was only open on weekends, but it was very delicious and highly recommended). Room was charming vintage Spanish design with modern comfort; the full bath, separate shower and lovely strong water pressure were much appreciated. We slept very well, it's a quiet premises and the shutters blocked sunlight. The pool area was lovely for reading and tanning on a sunny day, and the pool itself delightfully refreshing (cold!) and surprisingly large. I enjoyed the made-to-order olive oil fried eggs and bacon at breakfast, and appreciated it as the traditional Spanish style breakfast of cake and cured meats is not my preference (although their breakfast selection was very nice.) They had the only bottle of Tabasco sauce we saw in Spain and it was much enjoyed. :)

The bar area was constantly overwhelmed from a service perspective, because non-guest visitors to the medieval museum can also have a drink at the Parador bar with a discount. So the outdoor seating and waitstaff are inundated with non-hotel guests and it can be hard for guests to comfortably sit for a drink on demand. They did have a good Negroni, when we finally were able to get one. The pool area lacks a proper bar, so of note there is really only beer and water on offer there.

Everything went so well! - Stunning property. I think I stayed in a "single" room, but it was enormous and luxurious. - Loved roaming the castle walls, listening to the waves, gazing at the Cies Islands in the distance. Sunset to die for. I'm so glad I cut short my stage from A Guarda to Baiona with a taxi from Oia because I really enjoyed my afternoon roaming here. Consider a rest day here to really enjoy it. - If you are wondering if this hotel is worth a little splurge as a Camino Pilgrim - it absolutely is! Don't miss out! - Reception offered to provide the breakfast as a picnic when I mentioned leaving early. It was very generous in size and options! So much so I actually had to make some sacrifices before I left town because it was a bit heavy. - I really recommend this hotel highly and hope I can return!

No issues whatsoever. As a small suggestion, they could improve the little map of the property provided on arrival. I feel like it's such a special property it's worth a really detailed diagram and informational pamphlet! Another small suggestion is to open the pool just a tad earlier if the weather allows. It was in the mid 80s, so definitely pool weather, but I missed its opening by 2 days (opens June 1).

We spent a week here in July, having stayed in other accommodation twice before. We enjoyed the ambiance and the location. The swimming pool was good, although exposed to winds while we were there. The breakfasts, included in our package, were excellent. The views from the terrace and the walks around the Fortaleza are superb.

We dined in on only one occasion - we were disappointed, finding the fish dish somewhat bland. We found better options in other Baiona restaurants and bars.

Location is superb. The castle and grounds are amazing. Bathrooms are lovely. Restaurant is nice and staff there are very good.

The nightly rate is quite expensive. Although all staff are lovely, service on the bar terrace is particularly slow. Check in staff need to tell guests to book second restaurant as it was booked out when we went for dinner. Rooms could do with free bottled water, dressing gowns and face cloths.

Location and views. Unfortunately, we had an interior room, but I think next time we would definitely book a room with a view. It is worth the extra cost. Breakfast was excellent and the terrace was lovely. Close to a beach where you could swim

The staff were very busy and a bit impersonal. Also the air conditioning didn't work on the day we were there. The staff were not very apologetic

This Parador was grand and magnificent. The views were spectacular. We loved walking the rampart walls ands exploring the huge property. This is what a Parador should be. We stayed here as we were walking Camino. Luggage transfer was no issue. We walked into town to eat and do our laundry. We stayed 2 nights to really enjoy this town and this property.

With no car it was a long walk down the entrance driveway to the town. However we were used to walking by this time on the Camino😃 so it wasn't a big deal to walk some more!
