This lovely Hotel/restaurant with 18 rooms is situated in the beautiful village of Orient in the mountainous region of Mallorca, far from the busy beaches but only a 35 minute drive away from Palma. It is owned and run by a German/Austrian couple who both add a very personal touch to your stay. They are always at hand (except for Tuesdays, that’s their day off), very friendly and look after their guests perfectly. The food was wonderful, fresh, beautifully presented and very tasty. We stayed for 5 nights and loved it. There are several walking routes starting in either Orient itself or from one of the neighbouring villages and of course cycling is great too. There are two more eateries in Orient which makes the location superior to some of the more remote hotels in the region.

Sara and team at Hotel Rural were lovely. The property was well maintained, authentically Mallorcan and in an extremely quiet part of the island. If you are looking to escape the busy Palma area and prefer to be tucked away in the mountains and surrounded by nature then will love this place. We initially had room 15, however after a few guests checked out, Sara and team were kind enough to upgrade us to a bigger room (room 3) which we loved. The property also included a nice pool, complementary breakfast and free parking. While breakfast was good, after the third morning, we would have liked more variety. Also be mindful that this part of the island is approx 45 minutes to a 1 hour drive to many of the most popular beaches of the island. In short, the hotel, property and staff were all great but be mindful of whether the location suits your itinerary.

10/10 on virtually everything! Fantastic, classic building in tranquil location! The restaurant on site is fabulous! The freshest ingredients prepared & beautifully presented! A “young” couple operate it and they do so within enthusiasm, expertise, and care! It is clear they love their property and their customers are treated with like family! There is a beautiful pool on site set aside in a lovely garden. We just wish we could’ve stayed longer!

There are two ways to approach the hotel. We came from the direction of Bunyola, and there are multiple switchbacks on the road, which can get really harrowing. There is an easier way to approach through Alaró,a little more inland. Still, it was definitely worth the drive!

The owners and staff are incredibly kind! We had a wonderful stay. The pool is beautiful and has a very relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast was amazing! We also had two very romantic and delicious dinners at their restaurants. The owner himself is the chef. The rooms are spotless. I would absolutely recommend this place if you’re looking for a cozy and peaceful stay in Mallorca. It’s also a great base for visiting Sóller and Valldemossa.

Location! Mountains and the village as such. This is what we were looking for. This is not a "central" or first line Coast location. However any attraction of Mallorka is in half to one hour drive but you have to be familiar with narrow roads. Or if you prefer to stay in one place - it is also perfect. Rooms are nice, especially those with high ceillings - are very spacious.. Breakfast - perfect and fresh. Real fresh coffe available. Remember - this is not Palma city - working 24/7 hours. So plan accordingly some logistics in advance such as: lunch, dinner and... cigarets (if You are smoker). Water pool - external and very well maintained. Landlord - always available if necessary. Reminds an austrian hospitality style from the Alps. Which I like very much.

Air conditioning is a challenge... it is a mobile stuff adapted for stationary use. It is not fully operational in hot days and also - relatively noisy. Be aware if this is an isssue for You.

Dramatic mountain setting. Excellent evening meal. Super suckling pig and beef fillet. Good beer. Friendly cheerful accomodation staff. Very popular with passing cyclists. New room under construction to front looked inviting.

Room 9 very badly positioned. Window opens onto rear entrance so absolutely no privacy. Couldn’t open window to air the room as no security due to positioning at rear entrance. Had to keep curtains closed for basic privacy. No view. Wi-Fi didn’t work and we didn’t hear about a solution. Car park had blind exit onto the road used at speed by cyclists which was alarming. Wine list seemed unreasonably expensive.

Location was so beautiful, staff incredibly accomodating and the restaurant was amazing - food so good.

would have been ideal if small fridges were in the room to keep snacks etc as the restaurant is not open 7 days and there is no easy super market in the town etc.

We loved the hotel, the location, the service and the food. It was a wonderful stay and we would love to come back and we definitely recommend this place. Beautiful surroundings and nice hikes in the mountains So nice to take a swim in the pool after a day hiking. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner outside in a very nice restaurant setting.

The hotel was built in the local style and was located in a small settlement called the Orient. It was like a dream. It was like we were in a fairy tale world. We went to other regions very easily with our car. The scenery of the roads and towns we passed was beautiful. Hotel owners Petra and Patric and their excellent staff helped us a lot. They were friendly and very helpful. Like everything else, especially the breakfast was great too. Whatever you were looking for was there. In addition, the hotel's kitchen and staff were at your service throughout the entire breakfast. I had read the reviews about expensive food when I read the reviews about the hotel before I came. But actually not true We left after breakfast and returned late. For this reason, we could only eat one evening at the hotel. We ate paella with vegetables and seafood. It was very tasty. We drank a lot during our stay. Beer, coffee, tea, wine... All prices were almost the same as elsewhere on the island. Beautiful location, friendly staff , comfortable room. Good restaurant.

Air conditioning and hot water were a bit temperamental, we had a courtyard view, I would recommend an upgrade to a room with a view. The restaurant is a little expensive however the portions are very large. We could have split the lovely fish dish between two and may of had room for dessert .
