We ordered a taxi from girona airport a few weeks before arrival by contacting the hotel directly. Even though we had a bit of a delay the driver was waiting for us and the taxi was a fixed price. The check in was good and they explained about the half board etc. We booked half board and a room without a balcony. The room was simple but homely. Good quality bedding and toiletries. Water was replaced daily also coffee pods. The air con was excellent and the shutters helped to keep the room cool. We picked up lovely quality pool towels each day from reception. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice and good quality. The dining room has a stunning view of the beach and the Vila vella. The staff were all lovely and it was very clean and relaxed. The pool was great and I especially liked the steps down which made it easy to get into the pool but there was plenty of room to sit and read if you prefer. Plenty of sun loungers and parasols and it was lovely to see no one reserving beds, there was simply no need to. There was a nice bar area serving drinks and snacks, again with a lovely view and service. Half board was a great choice. The menu changed daily and the food was very good. The salads were excellent. I had duck for my main course on our last night. There was a supplement for it and it was beautiful. There is about a 10 minute walk to the old town but this suited us as we enjoy walking and exploring when on holiday. The hotel is in a stunning position with the best view which ever way you look. It blends the traditional with the modern. It smells lovely and feels calm. The staff were all very good.

There was nothing to not like.

Very pleasant and helpful staff. Room was more spacious with a bigger bathroom than that on our previous visit. Bar, patio and pool area were well maintained and well provided with seating and loungers. The hotel is right on the beach with a great view across the bay. Breakfasts were very satisfactory though perhaps a bit short of variety. Car parking is more than adequate though relatively expensive.

The WiFi didn’t work in our room. Our phones and iPads only connected when we left the room and entered the main part of the hotel. The tv was small and BBC world news was the only English language channel which exacerbated the WiFi problem. Bar snacks were basic which encouraged us to eat outside the hotel.

WOW! The staff were absolutely amazing. From the moment we stepped through the doors to check in to the moment we left the staff were wonderful. Jessica went above and beyond to make us comfortable and she was very kind. Vita cleaned our room each day and refreshed the towels and did a perfect job. It was SO clean. The cleaning staff were fantastic, the rooms were SO clean!!!! The location is perfect, the facilities are clean and tidy. We enjoyed a few drinks at the hotel bar and restaurant each night and highly recommend the anchovy tapa. Highly recommend this hotel and we hope to come back again!

Once you learn that the Costa Brava is not a string of locations along a beach highway and that you need to pick a spot rather than expect to drive from town to town, Tossa de Mar is an excellent location and the Golden Mar Menuda is a fantastic spot. We were fortunate that they had only recently opened for the year and the rate was astonishingly reasonable. It is a lovely place to stroll and the views from the castle built in the 1200s and freely accessible. The bed was very comfortable in a clean and comfortable room. The staff at the front desk and the restaurant were very attentive to our needs. We could have parked nearby on the street for free but chose to pay the 20 euros to park on the property.

It would have been nice if breakfast had been available for us before our 8:00 departure for Barcelona airport; however, this is a holiday property, not an airport hotel.

This is a lovely hotel in my opinion has the best position of all the hotels in Tossa de Mar. Our room was good with a large walk in shower. It's right on the beach the pool area is clean there's no problem in getting a sunbed, the pool although small is very nice. The hotel offers a good selection of choice for lunch and has a nice seating area where you can sit and watch the world go by. The beach is very stoney you will need to wear shoes to get to the waters edge and into the water. There is a beach bar only 50 yards away which again offers food and drinks it gets very busy around lunchtime. It takes about 15 mins to walk in to the old town passing a few bars and restaurants on the way. The old town is lovely there are lots of shops and places to eat and drink you will pay anything from 75 euros upwards for a 2 course meal with a bottle of wine. There is a little train that can take you up to the top of the castle if you prefer not to take the steep walk to the top walking down is much easier. The beaches at this time of year are very busy we will probably go back in September next year when its a bit quieter. All in all a very nice holiday we will definitely go back to the same hotel the staff were brilliant especially Valentina, Julia, Lucas and Josep, Ricardo on reception was also very helpful.

Our room which had a partial sea view was a little small but this was to be expected as the hotel is quite old, the tv was good and the air con excellent. Maid service again excellent.

Very good breakfast, lots of options, all very fresh. The common areas are really nice, nice pool with lots of lounge chairs, so you don't have to fight over it, they offer towels and there's toilets close to the pool as well. Everything's always clean. The proximity to the beach is also great. You can stay by the pool, and go to the ocean if you want and come back. The staff is very friendly and willing to help!

The pillows could be better. The bathroom ventilation wasn't working, and it gets quite humid in the room. The breakfast is delicious but one day rained A LOT and we couldn't leave the hotel for lunch, and there's barely any vegetarian options on the menu (they have a restaurant by the hotel), and when we asked if they could remove one ingredient from a sandwich, the answer was no.

Location is outstanding. Right on the beach. Walking is easy to town and the walled medieval town. Breakfast was the best we had on our trip. So much choice and goes until 11. Outdoor patio to sit on while eating and enjoying the beautiful views. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Everything was great. We wanted a quiet few days and that’s what we got. Mind you it is October. Personally, I wouldn’t want to come in high season. Rooms have water and coffee as well as a Welcome Cava and Coke. Balcony with partial ocean view. Room was a good size and bed was comfy. The town is very cute and walkable. They have a small passenger train that does city tours and viewpoint tours, if you like. Lots of divers and cyclists in the area. Due to it being Oct and end of season a lot of restaurants were closed. I would have liked to find more authentic spots rather than the tourist ones. Prices were touristy.

The pool area was nice but pool extremely cold. I’m high season I’m sure it’s welcoming!

Great facilities, really hospitable and welcoming staff. The rooms, bar and restaurant were all spotlessly clean. The hall board option was very modestly priced given the quality and variety of the food, we were hard pressed to find better in Tossa itself. The pool side and bar were great places to relax and there was plenty of activities to do within walking distance.

The reception area could get a bit loud later in to the evenings, which could be a little annoying for rooms (like ours) that were right next to the reception.

Great location and facilities including the pool. Comfortable beds , air conditioning. Breakfast very good with multiple options to choose from.Great atmosphere.

Not sound proof and doors close with a loud noise which was disturbing during the night as l could hear the neighbours. Restaurant could be better. They did not have fish cuttlery and did not offer complimentary bread or olives . For a 4 star hotel quite disappointing.

This hotel was the best hotel we have ever stayed in it’s so peaceful, clean and beautiful right on the beach which is the best beach in tossa, the food was really good three course meal with a good choice each night and the buffet breakfast was brilliant, our room was cleaned everyday the bed was really comfy with a beautiful sea view and the staff were so happy and friendly!! It’s a 10/10 from us thanks so much for the stay golden mar menuda :) Joey and zoey
