We had an absolutely unforgettable stay at Magical Pond in Ruka, Finland, during the Christmas holidays. From the moment we arrived, we were immersed in a magical atmosphere that felt straight out of a fairy tale. The place is truly enchanting, with breathtaking nature and a warm ambiance that immediately charmed us. The hotel, intimate and cozy, offered the perfect setting for enjoying quality family time. Our two-year-old son loved playing in the snow, and the outdoor space, with stunning views of the frozen lake and snowy forests, was perfect for peaceful walks. The owners of the hotel, incredibly kind and welcoming, made a world of difference. They were always available to offer advice and little thoughtful gestures that made our stay even more enjoyable. Their warm hospitality truly made us feel at home, even though we were far away from it. The rooms were very comfortable, perfectly suited to the needs of a family with a young child. We especially appreciated the impeccable cleanliness and the attention to detail. The breakfast was delicious, featuring fresh, local products – a perfect way to start the day with energy. If you’re looking for a peaceful, magical, and authentic place to spend a memorable Christmas holiday, we highly recommend Magical Pond. The place is indeed magical! Beautiful scenery, great accomodations, good breakfast and nice staff! There is a nice trail that you can walk, and you can use their snowshoes for free.

The place is a bit far from the town, which would not be a problem if there was a way to reach the Ruka village without having a car. There is no public transportation that can take you there, and taxi is quite expensive (25-30 euros each leg). THERE IS NO WAY TO EAT unless you pay 30 euros on delivery (which is more expensive than the food itself), or 60 (back and forth) to get a taxi to town. The hotel has a restaurant which was closed during our stay, so not helpful at all. I think it should be more clear that you have to either own a car or be prepared for not having food there.

The location is a must, very suggestive, in the middle of the Forest. Other "Igloos" are spaced enough to be not too near. Modern structure. Very kind receptionist. Possibility of having breakfast to go since we left at 6:30.

Small room. Shower is open, that means the bathroom gets flooded. The food in the bar is very basic and the restaurant is not always open, this means taking a taxi to Ruka at 30.00 euros each way. Since the room is small, we did not understand the usefulness of dedicating space to the small kitchen which has no possibility of heating or cooking food. It is not so easy to sleep well, due to the shape of the bed which is not square.

Amazing location in the middle of nowhere, yet easily accessible from Ruka. Clean and tidy room, comfy bed and obviously wonderful views. Friendly staff, everything went smoothly. We had dinner at the restaurant, the 3 course dinner was very tasty and atmosphere in the restaurant was romantic and intimate. Breakfast was great, not the biggest selection but definitely fresh and good quality. Overall this truly was a magical place.

I loved everything, but I felt like there was a lot of bright lights on during the night and was a bit worried it might make it difficult to see northern lights. Also I would suggest not bringing big suitcases as there's not much space for luggage in the room.

We celebrated my husband’s birthday here and we had the most perfect stay and experience. The cozy glass igloo and the snowy landscape is such a perfect combination. We enjoyed the quiet arctic night at the same time felt so close to nature. The staff were kind, helpful and amazing. We were also given welcome drinks. The breakfast is fantastic. Their little cafe/ restaurant is such a vibe. The price you pay for this stay is absolutely worth it. I would highly recommend.

The bed is very spacious but there’s not enough space if you bring too many luggages. We used the space in the toilet to keep baby’s stroller. The igloo can only be accessed by taxi from Ruka village so better have everything you need before coming to the igloo as there will be no shops around.

Stunning scenery, wonderful staff, fantastic location beside lots of activities and close to Ruka village. The igloos were clean and comfortable and warm. We were lucky enough to see the northern lights from the igloos, would certainly recommend!

stunning! right by a quiet lake with great views (and northern lights). enjoyed a peaceful campfire by the lake which was warm and lovely. the igloo was beautifully designed, clean and comfortable. staff were lovely. would stay again.

It is unfair for this type of accommodation to be rated on a Booking.com review. Yes, the room is very small. But the whole experience is far beyond a typical hotel. The scenery, the view from the room, the stars, the northern lights, the tranquility. Just magical..

Everything was better than expected..

- incredible location & beautiful views over the nature only (from Cabin Nr. 3 at least) - very nice staff, very helpful, arranging and friendly - great breakfast

2 things can be improved: - a daily make-up of the room (not necessarily new bed sheets, but just a quick make-up) including the replacement of dirty dishes with clean ones would have been appreciated - the window of the bathroom is useless (can't be opened and does not bring much light into the cabin) BUT it is a bit disappointing at night when your neighbors let the light on and you cannot enjoy a real dark night > maybe you could cover the windows at least in winter to avoid light disturbances
