The Abbey is magnificent! À fabulous place to stay! We had the Monks Bar-B-Que for dinner and the standard of the food was fantastic!

Unfortunately when we arrived after a really long drive There was no cold water so we couldn’t shower. Apparently there was a problem in the area so the hotel couldn’t do anything about it. We were looking forward to a lovely breakfast as the dinner was such a high standard .The breakfast was very dissapointing hardly anything fir vegetarians, the hotel agreed and they refunded us no problem.

Lovely village and great location and fabulous property

Whilst it’s a fantastic place it probably would not suit the disabled with mobility issues and certainly not the wheelchair bound as it has a few stairs to negotiate. I have mobility issues so was glad for a staff member to help with the bags. I just needed more time and a rest when going up to our room or anywhere off property. You have to accept its a very old property and making it disabled friendly would present a challenge.

A privilege to stay in the Abbaye and the whole place was beautiful. They have done a fabulous job of maintaining the ambience of the place. Breakfast and evening meal exceptional.

There was nothing I didn't like but to have a little fridge in the rooms would have been nice. Also, it is very very hot on the top floor so I would recommend you have a mini AC unit with you.

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous - full of character and thoughtfully restored. There were interesting artefacts all over the place, and a very grand staircase. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We ate in the restaurant and the food was high quality, generously portioned and cooked in front of us on an open fire. There was no vegetarian option so be prepared if you don’t eat meat. Our little dog was welcomed in all areas, including the restaurant. The history of the property is so interesting. The location is perfect - right by the river with a gorgeous view, and a short walk into the centre of town. The bedroom we stayed in on the 2nd floor was beautiful and traditional, with a very comfy bed. The shower was hot and had good pressure. We had a corner room with a view over the terrace and the lake.

The parking area is quite small, so it can be difficult to get a space. There is waterfront parking very close by, which is free and safe.

Beautiful historic building in an amazing location beside the Loire River. We could park inside the gates (reserved parking). The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. They also were kind enough to change our room to a lower floor to accommodate our difficulty with many stairs. They helped us with our luggage, too. The breakfast was in a room overlooking the Loire, was excellent with lots of choice; it was worth the money. Our room, while like a stately home bedroom, with its heavy curtains, high ceiling and antique furniture, had a lovely modern bathroom. The bed was very comfortable as well.

Slight difficulty accessing the WiFi because there was more than one site relating to the hotel. A notice in rooms stating the site to access and the code to use, would have been more helpful than the information which was provided.

If you like historic old buildings, you'll like this one. It's a fabulous old building. The location is great, with a terrace overlooking the Loire River. It's not a luxury hotel. Everything works as it should, but the building and fittings have retained much of its character which is great to see. Restaurant is good although the menu is limited so if you're staying more than two days you may need to walk ia few hundred meters nto the town.

The location is wonderful looking over the Loire river. The building is totally unique and grows on you with its charm and lovely staff.

They played ethereal music from about 6pm by the staircase which I found eerie but that’s a matter of choice. They hadn’t told us in advance that the hotel restaurant and bar were closed on a Wednesday when we arrived but lovely restaurants on side streets.

Beautiful, historic building (I think it used to be a monastery) with nice common rooms for sitting. Beautiful dining room for breakfast with views of the Loire. Very friendly staff at check-in. Nice-sized comfortable room.

There is a grill that serves dinner. We went there and found the staff to be pretty indifferent if not bordering on the unfriendly--very different from the hotel staff, who were very friendly and helpful. I would skip the grill and go to one of the restaurants up the hill in the Town center.

Amazingly characterful property, very comfortable, great location, friendly staff.

I appreciate it is near the river but there were too many flies in the breakfast room, there was no electronic zapper nor any effort to keep them off the food. There were dead flies on the window sills. The breakfast selection was poor for the money. The rotisserie was a nice touch, but was expensive.

The stunning building and location. Take time to view the original staircase from the ground floor. The staff were very pleasant. The restoration of the building is a huge task which is being done sympathetically. (There is no current building work). The secure parking was important for us!

There was no Zero alcohol stocked. I would expect at least one Zero beer/lager in 2025.
