Really lovely and quiet location. Very friendly host, ready to help. Very good breakfast in the morning. A lot of outdoor space. Charming building.

The only problem we had was that the room smelled of damp. Like a basement smell and we could feel the moisture. The smell was quite strong. The smell was in our room only, the kitchen area was absokutely fine. I think it was just the room. There was a tiny window but it was cold so we couldn"t have it opened all night. There was also no ventilation in the room and no ventilation in the bathroom. Apart from that everything was ok. Ventilation needs to be sorted for thia room. We stayed in the king room, that's the room that had an issue. I think other rooms would be ok but iurs was slightly under grouns so maybe that's why it had issues.

It was great that the hostess was flexible to allow as an exception on the check-in time at around 3pm. Their normal check-in time is 5pm which is quite unusual and late. The chateau is really a small heritage house with a tower. It was owned by vineyard owners way back a few hundred years ago. The current property is tastefully furnished to preserve some of it's history, and managed well. The breakfast is of home-made breads, muffins and a variety of jams.

Nothing really.

This beautifully restored chateau was warm and comfortable, with a superb breakfast, including freshly baked bread, in the morning. Though small, the room was well appointed, with tea and coffee available, and the en-suite shower room was perfect. We would go out of our way to stay again if passing nearby. Madame speaks English, too.

The small suburb of Dessertine lacked any restaurant for dinner, though Montluçon was not far. Finding the address stretched our car sat nav, but the effort was worth it.

Very generous and varied…

What was common to a few places we went to this month was how cold the tiles are when you get up with no socks, either in the middle of the night or the morning; it may seem like nothing, but in April and early May you feel it for sure…again, this was not only at the Chateau because a lot of places are covered with tiles, but maybe it is worth mentioning. We did not feel it necessary to mention it to the host as hospitality was perfect.

A fantastic property with lots of history. We stayed 3 nights. Our room was well equipped (TV, tea/coffee/water), bathroom was beautiful, and the use of a communal kitchen, diner, seating area with TV. Secure gated parking. Lots of outside seating (we didn't use as it was raining). Very dog friendly. The lady of the house was SO lovely. We would highly recommend a stay.

Nothing - its a fantastic place.

Our host Lynda was very welcoming and helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean, and nice and cool in the hot weather. A lovely breakfast - great selection of fresh produce, and served by the host. Situated just a short drive from Montluçon where there's plenty of places to eat and easy parking. We enjoyed a dip in the hot tub. For us it was a great place to break a long journey for just a couple of nights.

We have a large car and the entrance off the road was a little tight, but not too much of an issue, and once in there's plenty of room to park.

Used the chateau for a one night stopover and was impressed with the welcome. What a great start! The owners of the chateau have retained mainly of its original features and the results are a very pleasent, if somewhat quirky in places. Great facilities, excellent breakfast and a great host in Lynda.

Nothing not to like really.

The host Lynda was lovely, the breakfast Besson typical french with homemade breads and jams, with freshly squeezed orange juice. Nice deep bath to soak in and a comfortable bed with tea and coffee facilities in your room. The old house had lots of character with low door openings to duck under. Off street parking behind a gated access with a nice garden.

Nothing
