Marie and Roger are warm and welcoming hosts, ensuring their guests feel completely comfortable, providing information on the locality and where to visit and recommendations for dinner. The weather was very hot, however inside the old stone house was nice and cool. The decor is fabulous; each room individual and lovingly restored to be in keeping. Breakfast was ample and delicious - croissants from the nearby boulangerie and plenty to keep us going for the day. Roger’s coffee was excellent! The pool was perfect, completely secluded and we had it all to ourselves! Dinner recommendation was Le Roman des Saveurs - the best meal we had during our stay in France and really reasonable. Definitely visit the bar at the top square on the other side of the river. Quirky inside and outside was beautiful. We will definitely be back if we pass this way again.

The location is excellent - just a few steps from the shops and cafes of Montmorillon, and yet once you are in the surprisingly extensive and beautiful garden it is quiet and peaceful. The swimming pool is an added bonus, lovely and clean and large enough to swim up and down The house itself is a large attractive traditional building with interesting features, and my room was a very spacious double room, tastefully decorated, with a large modern ensuite shower room, The breakfast room is a delightful garden room, with lovely furniture, and the breakfast was beautifully set out, witha plentiful mix of fruit, croissants,fresh bread and spreads, juice and hot drinks, and more choices offered that I didn't need. Everything is spotlessly clean, and the hosts are just lovely - willing to chat or give help and advice if needed.

Friendly and helpful hosts - recommended a suitable restaurant for a delicious dinner. Room pleasantly decorated, clean and comfortable. Breakfast exceptional, and hosts were responsive to request for a gluten-free option. The property is pleasantly situated in a position accessible to the centre of town, without being noisy. Communication in advance was helpful.

Parking was a short distance away in a public car park, which seemed safe, but a little awkward for access with bags. Only a minor issue. The ensuite bathroom was partitioned off from the main room (wall not to full ceiling height) but no real issue for us.

Montmorillon is a historical city and the house is centrally located. The house is full of original features - from a carved oak staircase, panelling, beams and original tomette tiles that have been lovingly restored and brought to life in an Anglo French style - bags of personality and a homely feel. The garden is a hidden gem and equally as charming as the house - with the original greenhouses. It feels like a secret garden as you walk through and under arches and trees. There’s also a swimming cool for those inclined. The breakfast was served in a converted barn/garden room - again, full of charm. There was lots of breakfast options and we felt thoroughly welcomed and spoiled by Marie and Roger - the owners. Our bedroom was really spacious as was the en suite- with beautiful restored and hand painted pieces of antique furniture. Marie and Roger’s love and passion for their home and business is evident throughout. They were so helpful and knowledgeable too. Just lovely people and a wonderful place to stay. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend.

An amazing stay with Marie & Roger at L'Arbre D'Ange during a recent trip to Montmorillon! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or return if visiting the area again. The level of thought and detail that has gone into their beautiful home and fantastic guest rooms is incredible. Breakfast is on another level with a range of choices and far more than I saw any of the guests able to finish. It really felt like a home-from-home experience and Marie & Roger are as generous with their time and knowledge of the local area/relocating as the breakfast! An exceptional place hosted by exceptional people. Thank you for a wonderful stay and wishing you both all the best for the future - it's certainly well deserved!

Our stay was a really nice experience. Marie and her husband Roger were so helpful, they were so generous , providing us with local knowledge and contacts as we are helping a friend who is renovating an old barn nearby. They were able to share all the information we needed to know,and they were able to share all the information we needed to know, including excellent recommendation for lovely restaurants, shops and places to visit! In particular Marie and Roger recommended L'Ascencier in Saint-Savin, which was a fabulous meal, lovely surroundings and very good value. Our accommodation at L'Arbre D'Ange was clean and comfortable, decorated to a high standard and Marie gave us helpful details of all aspects of the property, TV , shower and electrical, nothing was too much trouble & we felt really welcomed every day. Our breakfast was exceptional and is included in the rate, just a great experience. Their garden is an oasis of quaint rustic calm and of exceptional size and on our visit free parking was available outside the front door! Montmorillon is a lovely quiet town and Roger & Marie's property is just a short stroll to the lovely town square.

My family and I had the most wonderful experience at L’Arbre D’Ange. Marie and Roger were so welcoming and unbelievably helpful and kind. It was like a home away from home- so comfortable, exceptionally clean and close to everything. The garden and pool were sublime. I couldn’t stop taking photographs- just beautiful and so peaceful. Breakfast was delicious and nothing was too much trouble. I can’t recommend this fabulous place highly enough.

We loved everything about this beautiful haven

Breakfast excellent but when asked for your choice of patisserie do not think that is the whole breakfast as we did! That is additional so that the pastries come direct from the Boulangerie in the morning. We booked a room - we got a large room plus a hall plus a large shower room. It smelt nice!

The owners do have a cat and a dog. Excellently behaved but my husband is severely allergic to cats and it did effect him in the communal areas. It would have been nice to know in advance as for him it is a serious issue.

Beautifully presented old house with a pretty garden and swimming pool in secluded area. Hosts Marie and Roger (and Oliver their dog) were great hosts and we now have a perfect stopover point for the future on our drive up from the South to Caen with bars and restaurants within a short walk from the house.

Didn’t concern us but there is no TV in the room

The hosts were lovely and most accommodating. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The garden outside our room was so pretty, it was lovely to sit out there with a glass of wine. The breakfast was excellent and copious and in a lovely room with beautiful table settings. The location was perfect, in the town but still calm. We'll definitely return if we pass this way again.
