We liked everything about this property! A huge thank you to our wonderful hosts, Genevieve and Christian and of course their beautiful dog! We have just finished an amazing stay prior to starting the Camino and did not want to leave! Their home is superb; comfortable, exceptionally clean and in a great location. Christian is an excellent cook and our breakfast was lovely. All that aside, it was everything else that they did for us that made this an exceptional stay. We had decided to walk the Valcarlos route, rather than over the Pyrenees. Christian, upon hearing this, drove us through the Pyrenees so that we did not miss it. Also as first time pilgrims, we were a little nervous as to how our cases were going to get from one village to the next. Christian rang the luggage company and confirmed all our details and put our minds at ease. It would also be remiss of me not to forget Genevieve’s wonderful conversation and her good sense of humour! All in all, our stay at Gure Lana set us up for hopefully what is a “buen Camino”!

Nothing to dislike

My husband and I appreciate the warm hospitality extended to us during our 2 nights stay. We enjoyed staying in the big, neat, clean and beautiful room overlooking the hills. Breakfast is always a pleasant surprise from the hosts, Christian and Genevieve. They went out of their way to help us make alternative transport arrangements when our scheduled train booking to Bayonne was cancelled at the last minute due to a local social movement. They even volunteered to personally send us to Bayonne if all other alternative transport arrangements fall through, notwithstanding their busy schedule. Our heartfelt thanks for their graciousness and generosity.

This place is absolute perfection. We stayed here before starting our Camino. It is right outside of SJPDP, about a 5-10 minute walk to the Pilgrim's office. It was quiet and comfortable and the breakfast that Christian made us the next morning was DIVINE. The owners are friendly and full of information on the Camino. They made us feel so welcome and it was a great start to our trip. If I could give them 11 stars I would!

The host was very helpful and friendly! We had a beautiful view of the French countryside from our room. This B&B was a wonderful choice to rest after three long travel days from the USA before starting our Camino. Breakfast was good, our host even made my husband an omelet on our second morning.

It was a little bit of an uphill walk to old Town SJPdP for services BUT what the heck we were getting ready to walk 500 miles across Northern Spain.

Having stayed at Gure Lana recently, we were already familiar with and happy to return to Christian and Genevieve's lovely accommodation. We were not disappointed. The location is almost rural amidst beautiful rural scenery but less than 5 mins walk from the historic centre of St Jean. It is peaceful and soothing. The accommodation is beautifully presented and a delicious and generous continental breakfast is served. As before, warmly recommended.

Our hosts were the best. We arrived early and they allowed us to drop our bags so we could enjoy SJPdP easily. When we officially checked in Christian helped us in identifying the "Way" markers for our trek on the Camino. The rooms were large, beds comfortable, plenty of hot water, and the breakfast was excellent. We were able to do laundry, and they allowed us to have a picnic dinner in as the weather was too cold and wet to enjoy the yard. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you again.

The breakfast was amazing. Two kinds of home made plum jam, excellent hot chocolate, which the owner whipped up a second pot of for me, good croissants. We arrived in the evening, and the host pointed out that restaurants would be closing soon--so he personally drove us to a couple of the nearest so we wouldn't go hungry; while he was at it, he quickly showed us where we needed to go the next day to start the Camino, and the way markers we should look for so as not to lose our way. Incredible hospitality.

This is a lovely, large home in the Basque tradition. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with the owners. We chose to eat our meals outside for our entire trip due to Covid, and the owners made sure it was an outdoor breakfast setting in their front patio which required them to bring breakfast down a flight of outdoor steps. They insisted on us not helping. The property is stunning. We especially appreciated the very large bathroom.

location was magical! beautiful French countryside. loved the sheep grazing outside our window our hosts were outstanding. so accommodating to our every need. our wonderful host Christain picked us up gave us a tour of our starting points for our Camino explaining the markers. So helpful!

Christian and Genevieve are fantastic hosts, incredibly helpful and welcoming and very good company. Gure Lana is perfectly located on the edge of St-Jean-Pied-De-Port and is clean, bright, comfortable and beautifully decorated. There is a fabulous view from every window.
