Dog Friendly :):):) Arrived 2pm to there restaurant Karrikaburu which had a lovely dog friendly beer garden, got amazing food starter and main for 15 eur (which was well needed after my hike from SJPDP) THEY DO THE BEST MOJITO'S here. They gave my dogs lots of attention and we were very happy to be there. Then checked into apartment which was a short walk down the street, had 3 other housemates and another dog who were lovely. Also doing Camino. Had a Pilgrim dinner then that evening. Would definitely come back here.

Only item was if there was a bit of grass to take dogs for toilet would be handy for future.

For us it was a short summer-end break of 5 nights rather than a one-night stay for Camino de Compostela (we did the camino earlier). But if you want to split the camino etape from St.Jean-Pied-de Porte to Roncevales through alternative route (not the Napoleon route), then we think this quiet village of Valcarlos is a very good stop. The mountain view is magnifique. We were lodged in Casa Karrikaburu, which I believe one of the 3 properties they manage. The building is newly renovated and in good quality. The owner and their staff in the restaurant are very sympathique, helpful and extremely friendly. Really enjoy our stay and will definitely return again when spending vacation in the region.

The air circulation in the bathroom is not so good as the ceiling ventilation didn't work properly, you need to open a bit the bathroom door. But otherwise, no particular point.

Great facility! Maria was above and beyond anything you could want from a host. She's busy and on top of things. I wanted her to know she helped me so much and saved my sanity. I was very exhausted, it was late and she handled everything. She even helped get with a taxi the next morning. Thank you, Maria!!

This was not Maria's fault and I did not bother her that late, I was fine for the evening. This is a maintenance issue, and I do not think she was aware. Only one plug worked in the room, and the washer did not work. I wish I had told her before leaving.

Beautiful4l old house tastefully converted into apartments.

The address I had been given was wrong and so finding it was difficult.(Given 113 but actually it was no. 1. No response when I telephoned. Human contact was minimal - at checking in only. A hairdryer would have been helpful. I had understood from the write-up that I would have a room in a (shared apartment. It was a surprise to find I had the whole apartment. I would have bought different food and cooked an evening meal if I had realised I had sole use of cooking facilities.

Nice overall, clean and very good condition. Staff was super nice and super helpful. There is a bar/restaurant/supermarket where you can get dinner and provisions for breakfast not too far away.

We liked overall. It was a little confusing- there are 2 different buildings and they are not right next to each other (granted Valcarlos is not large). If you are in Casa Ferran, google maps for Montana Mendiola Apartamentos will get you there. If you are in Casa Karrikaburu, google maps for “Casa Karrikaburu “ will get you there.

Great, fully equipped apartment is very convenient for Camino pilgrims. The refrigerator was stocked with convenience items on an honor payment system - water, juice, milk, wine and snacks- very reasonable prices. Comfortable bed, cute little terrace, great shower/hot water and kitchen. Hostess was very accommodating and let us check in a little early.

Need better towels

Very clean apartment ready for us when we arrived on the Camino. Spacious, comfortable and quiet location. Lovely restaurant next door.

Needs better signs on the way into the village as we missed it the first time we past it and there was nobody there to meet us but the key was in the door.

I would have appreciated a supply of coffee/ tea in an apartment with a small kitchen and kettle. Also I was confused about the apartment location, I assumed it to be further north at the Mendiola apartment complex.

Everything, especially the staff. Everyone was so friendly and very helpful. Place was spacious and clean. Beds were comfortable. The restaurant next door and staff were amazing. It’s also on the Camino route which was helpful. Highly recommend.

Fabulous property in Valcarlos! Situated at the end of the town, but within a short distance from the end of the Camino leg. Very efficient check-in, lots of information given & some condiments in the fridge to purchase, if desired! Loved the honesty aspect of it all….. If heading to Valcarlos, then deffo look up this place, you will not be disappointed.
