At first glance it does not look much though a fabulous setting, with trees and lakes as we discovered a mecca for anglers. Our room and bathroom were spacious, clean light and airy with everything we needed. We had an exceptional meal the first night (sadly the restaurant was not open the second night or we would have gone again). For 36 euros we had an amazing smoked fish carpaccio salad with a couple of scallops for good measure. Our main was guinea fowl in a fabulous Normady Sauce followed by a delightful raspberry flan. The wine list was small i had an excellent Viognier for 26 euros very happy. Breakfast was very good, no buffet, eggs cooked to order, ham and cheese, French Bread, croissants, orange juice, coffee and delicious home made jam - again very happy.

No fault of the hotel there is nothing else in Sommadieu so you have to drive if the hotel restaurant not open.

We stayed here overnight during a trip from Italy to the UK by car. The location is deep in the French countryside, very quiet and peaceful. The lodge is next to some artificial ponds which are full of trout and many fishermen come here to fish. Our room was enormous and very modern, bed extremely comfortable and bathroom very spacious. We had dinner outside which was very good and also breakfast in the morning. Abundant parking, the owner was very friendly and hospitable. A very memorable and restful stay which we both very much enjoyed.

Very little not to like, this is very much a unique experience which we much appreciated. However, to reach our room upstairs we had to cross a glass floor which was a little disconcerting, despite the owner's assurance that it was very strong. The dinner was a three-course set menu with no choice, so if you have dietary requirements be sure to state them before you arrive. Breakfast was good if a little expensive; no buffet but the owner did fry my wife a couple of delicious eggs!

Huge comfortable, spotless room, overlooking fishing ponds and trees. Quirky, in the best possible way, ..some picturesque, dilapidated buildings. You can book an evening meal in advance made by Chef Bruno. Well worth doing so.

Hard to find fault with anything. Perhaps, the large shower head could have a less fine spray? That's being picky isn't it? There was another one.

The rooms and bathroom were lovely, beautifully done. The grounds were stunning with 4 fishing lakes. The owner was very friendly.

Would be nice if an hours fishing had been included in the room. Would have been better value for money if they’d used the space to make it a family room. Floor surface was lovely but made your feet filthy. Cleaner played music from 9am -felt like they were trying to get rid of us early!

Unusual property tucked away at the end of the village. A fly fisherman’s paradise, but great also for relaxing and walking the dogs in the extensive ground. very friendly welcome and convivial dinner entirely based on local produce. Huge and comfortable room, recently decorated.

Beautiful location on an estuary of the Meuse close to Verdun. Charming accommodation the rooms are large and appear newly renovated. Very clean and well maintained. The adjoining building has a bar and restaurant with set menu. Staff are friendly and helpful great service.

No food allowed in the rooms but there are basic tea/coffee and there’s an espresso machine in the bar next door.

We came back a 5. time … It is a wonderful , peaceful snd idyllic place - not only for fishing enthusiasts . Dinner was really delicious !! We are looking forward to our next stay …

We enjoyed the Lodge Hotel from the moment we arrived: the welcome was very friendly and uncomplicated. We had the feeling to stay with friends. We had the feeling that the people working there, enjoyed their work and life. The parc is beautiful: the old trees, the ponds and the creek gave a very special atmosphere. A specialty seems to be fly-fishing, which was interesting to watch from the distance. The rooms were large and clean and equipped with everything you could ask for. The dinner and the breakfast were very good and we enjoyed our stay a lot.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Accommodation spacious and spotlessly clean. Delicious dinner. Would consider staying there again if in the area.

The location was superb over looking a lake and the building housing the bedrooms was wonderfully rennovated and the rooms was extremely comfortable and well designed. Breakfast was great and dinner was superb and beautifully presented. and good taste. The service was exceptional

Nothing was disliked and will be more than happy to return whenever this is possible. There really is not a major issue that can be improved.
