As visitors to the bi-annual Pferdestarke event, we have stayed at Hotel Zur Burg Sternberg every 2 years since approximately 2010. The buffet style breakfasts and evening meals are delicious. The location is quiet and peaceful. The staff were very friendly and helpful and, as our German isn't brilliant, it was good that some staff spoke excellent English. Special mention to Stella and Stephanie.

Unfortunately, our shower tray had a leak so water seeped along the floor, so that we had to mop up the water each day. The extractor fan in the shower room didn't work. Surprised to find "Happy Easter" and bunny ornaments still displayed on the window sill of our room.

Great location and really good value. Hotel is clean and staff are friendly. The continental breakfast is good with a decent selection.

It maybe could do with modernisation but that might take away from the charm of the place.

Lovely hotel, great restaurant with good food at good value.. buffet for €21pp with free cold drinks. Parking was free.

No croissant or fruit salad for breakfast. Pillows were far too soft and bulky.

coffee maker in room would be handy. not a location if you like to walk to restaurants! but many cute towns close with the car

Could not book in till 16:00 and out by 11:00 there was no bar facilities untill the evening, there was vending machines, the room was ok for 1 night shower was broken, and kept going all over place tv was from 19th century,

It is no longer a quality what it used to be. They do not clean rooms every day (due to hygienic restrictions they say), if you need a new towel you can get one at a shelf in the corridor, they do not empty your bin...overall everyday service is poor. Carpets everywhere are dirty and smelly. A guest in the neighbouring room was smoking in the balcony from early morning (4am) and all that bad smell went to my room. Breakfast choice is poor and expensive to what you get. I will not return there.

quiet and peaceful location

We have stayed at this hotel maybe 8 times of more and our stay has always been excellent in every respect but this time was nothing short of a disaster really. On this occasion we had to pay in full on arrival only to find out that the hotel did not make up the rooms i.e make the beds, clean the rooms, empty the bins, clean the bathroom, provide fresh towels or even empty the sanitary bin - all apparently due to the COVID situation. We were told that they might do this for us on request but we needed to TOTALLY vacate the room and wait in the corridor with our luggages, wheelchair and all other belongings. l enquired at other hotels in the area and they did not have this policy. My fully vaccinated mother who is not only disabled but must change her sanitary towels regularly needed a restful and hygienic environment and sadly the latter was simply not provided even though we still had to pay full price for what was essentially an incomplete hotel service. No concession was offered. Also the evening meals previously consisted of not only a buffet but also an alternative table menu, but this has been sadly dropped, so it’s either the buffet or nothing which we found very limited. The only good point I can say at this time is that the few staff that were there were very polite and accommodating.
