Very generously-sized suite for the price, with an inviting sitting room and huge bathroom. The Schloß is a beautiful building to contemplate, situated in a lush park, and is directly adjacent to the main landing for the famous Spreewald canal boat excursions. We had an excellent dinner with very satisfying vegetarian entrees in the hotel’s restaurant, which has an attractive outdoor terrace and a welcoming staff.

This historic property, not surprisingly, has no air conditioning and we arrived on a day when the temperature hit 98 F. and stayed in the high 70s until well after dark. Our quarters, located on the side of the castle that bakes in the afternoon sun, were equipped with two small, totally inadequate fans. We know from other hotels we stayed at in the same region and during the same heatwave that more powerful fans, strategically placed, can make sleep comfortable in otherwise stuffy, heat-retaining old buildings that cannot accommodate AC. The establishment needs to take the sad reality of climate change a little more seriously.

An imposing, but charming hotel-castle in the heart of Spreewald, located in the middle of its own garden - the location could hardly be better. The grand staircase leading up to the guest rooms is certainly breathtaking, and the castle touches upon much of German history, from the 16th century on (there are discrete, fascinating information displays scattered among decorations). Several of the picturesque Spreewald hiking trails start in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. The main harbour, with boat rentals and tour departures is also nearby. Our room was spacious, well-equipped, and very comfortable. Although no air conditioning is provided, the solid construction and ample airflow took care of the midday heat. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and were very happy to accommodate our pet; this generally appears to be a location popular with dog owners, and for a good reason. The hotel restaurant is excellent, and by far the best place for a gourmet dinner in the area. It tends to get very busy at dinnertime, so reservations are essential.

The castle was really beautiful, surrounded by a lovely park. The room was a comfortable size, with a high ceiling and comfy bed. A nice touch was a free selection of drinks in a mini-fridge. I also appreciated the mosquito net in windows. We particularly loved hotel restaurant - both the dinner and breakfast were simply excellent, with impeccable service. My son loved "children lounge" and the special menu in the restaurant- this hotel receives special appreciation for being child-friendly. I highly recommend this place.

There was no airco in the room, so it was simply very hot - admittedly, the hotel was prepared, and ventilators were waiting in the room. I was also disappointed about the lack of facilities for a tea/coffee in the room, especially since there was also no room service, so no chance to order a hot tea before bedtime. But perhaps these facilities would not match the character of the place.

Great grand location, good spacious room, fantastic evening meals in a beautiful setting, good breakfast, secure bike storage, very close to town. The whole stay felt like a special occasion. Very responsive reception staff.

What really stood out were the absolutely beautiful grounds - perfectly manicured rolling lawns with big leafy trees, perfect for reading outside. Just a three minute walk to the cute tourist area near the canals. The room was very spacious and lovely, had a sort of "hunting lodge" decor. The room included *free* bottled drinks (sodas and water) in the mini fridge, and a decadent free buffet breakfast as well. The windows have screens to keep out the summer mosquitos, and the room came equipped with two fans which was a nice touch. Staff were very nice and responsive.

Everything was perfect! The room is spacious, very comfortable, beautiful and fits the style of a castle. The drinks in minibar were for free, which was quite a surprise. Also, the reception area and the stairs look fantastic. The breakfast is very tasty, has pretty much everything; waiters wish you a good morning and ask whether you want some coffee (pot or from coffeemaker). Don't forget to leave some Trinkgeld on your way out! The stuff is very professional, do everything fast and are very welcoming. We left our luggage twice (before check in and after check out) and asked for a kettle to use in the room, they served everything without any delay. The restaurant (opens at 18, i believe) is amazing - they serve delicious local dishes, waiters are exemplary and also speak English. Book beforehand, as it is quite full even on weekday evenings

Both my friend and I had a magical experience at the Schloss. The location was breath taking. The top floor room had a beautiful view of the gardens. The breakfast had great variety and the dinner at the hotel was a very romantic, fine dining experience for us. In all cases the staff was super friendly, and accommodating. 10/10 would come here again.

Absolutely nothing

The castle is located in its own park. It’s steeped in history. Beautiful rooms, amazing restaurant, wonderful bar and very friendly and welcoming staff.

We liked everything.

Everything was perfect, beautiful rooms, great breakfast, and wonderful park and location! Our dog, Noodle, loved everything as well.

The food in the bar wasn’t great, expected more for almost 20€
