Once the home of Worpswede artist Hans am Ende (1864-1918), the hotel has maintained its historic ambience & tradition (antique furniture, paintings, prints and photographs from the Worpswede artist/friend group, etc.), but with all the modern amenities, of course. The rooms were comfortable, the staff was uniformly friendly, helpful and welcoming, and the breakfast buffet was more than generous. Local museums, historic homes and restaurants all within walking distance.

We loved everything, the location, the spacious room, the terrace, the friendly service. Last but not least the fantastic breakfast.

The reception was very friendly. The breakfast was very good and we were allowed to make a breakfast bun for the travel.

House in retro style, the former home of the painter Hans am Ende, situated in a large green garden, right next to the former property, now a museum, of the painter Heinrich Vogeler. The centre of Worpswede can easily be reached on foot or by bike via quiet foot paths and roads or via a safe cycle path along the main road. Quiet and very friendly atmosphere, comfortable beds and large bathroom. Good city bikes can be hired for a small fee at the hotel. Nice terrace where tea and coffee are served in the afternoon.

The room we had is rather dark and we were missing a table or desk at which we could write. Fortunately the weather was good and we could sit at the table of the small terrace in front of our room. There, although the house is a good distance away, the main road is clearly audible. We may have been unlucky, but on both mornings the scambled eggs were finished and it took quite a while until it was refilled upon request. Fresh fruit salad would have been desirable instead of tinned fruit. Otherwise the breakfast selection was wide and good.

Very nice staff, helpful. Nice big rooms, clean and quiet. Great breakfast.

Great hotel in a charming little artist town

Old style hotel close to the lovely Worpswede village. Family managed. Good breakfast, even though the cappuccino comes with an extra price.

I think it is a precise choice of the owners, the rooms are from early XX century in the way they are furnished, the appliances and all the rest. Not my style, but I guess it is designed for a specific customer base. At first the room doesn't smell like fresh and clean, maybe because of the carpet on the floor.
