The staff were A-MAZING. The owner is on site and you can tell their attention to detail. The rooms were clean and updated. Grounds were beautiful, clean, and well maintained. The proximity to the beach was fantastic and the hotel provided umbrella service at the beach as well as food and drink service to the beach. Beach was great and there is a water sports company close by so my kids enjoyed that. The kids enjoyed the hotel pool. Hotel bar provided a variety of food and drink options, including fresh, healthy smoothies and yummy, milk shakes. Back to the staff...they were super friendly and accommodating. We were in a jam and they went above and beyond to help us out. This is a well run hotel and just made our vacation that much better.

The room keys and safe need updating.

It was clean and comfortable and the location was fantastic - being right across the road from the beach meant myself and my teenaged children could wander back and forth between the beach, the pool, our room, and the local shops, restaurants, etc, as and when we each felt like it :). The beach and swimming were wonderful as was the bar service out on the lovely sunbeds. Breakfast views over the sea were perfect too.

I hadn’t read that you had to pay extra for the sunbeds on the beach (€15/day for two) so that was an initial surprise and it wasn’t the cheapest place I’ve ever stayed - but I can see now that it does state that on the website listing - and once we were used to it, it wasn’t really a problem and I think we got our money’s worth :)

Superb location a stones throw away from the beautiful beach . Ours was a standard room but we had a graden terrace, very private with lovely outside furniture. Room was lovely, spotlessly clean and great maid service. Good a/c and comfy bed. 5 minutes walk from the little town which has lots of restaurants and bars. So much choice. The hotel staff were so friendly, very relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast buffet was great and catered for every type of breakfast you could want on the upper terrace work a lovely view of the Ionian Sea. From the comfortable sun beds on the beach the friendly staff will bring you drinks and snacks. Beds are at a reasonable cost for all day.

We had a lovely stay at Makis Hotel in Skala. The location is fantastic, just a short walk to the beach and within easy walking distance of many charming restaurants and cafés, which made evenings especially enjoyable. The bedroom was spotlessly clean, nicely decorated, and very comfortable. That said, the layout felt like it may have been designed by a man: there was no space to hang long dresses and no full-length mirror, which was a bit of a shame. The pool area and pool bar were great: a relaxing space to unwind and enjoy the sunshine with a drink and some lovely food.

One point worth noting is that hotel guests are required to pay for sun loungers and umbrellas on the beach. It felt a bit disappointing given you're already staying at the hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at Makis Hotel in Skala, Kefalonia! The hotel is very quiet and peaceful, giving the feeling of a private or boutique retreat. It has everything you could need for a relaxing holiday — a private beach, a bar offering a variety of delicious food, and comfortable, well-kept rooms. The staff are both friendly and professional, making us feel truly welcome throughout our stay. What impressed us most was their kindness — we even forgot something after checking out, and they immediately contacted us and offered to send it to us. That level of care is rare and deeply appreciated. The location is also excellent — just a short walk from the heart of Skala, where you can enjoy shops, tavernas, and a lively atmosphere, yet the hotel itself remains calm and quiet. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing, well-located stay in Kefalonia. We will definitely return!

The location of the hotel is perfect, it is directly opposite the beach and the town with all the restaurants is a short walk away. There were also boat trips and water sport facilities within walking distance which was perfect.

There was not a lot of variety in the breakfast which after a week became repetitive and we struggled to eat the same thing everyday. We were slightly disappointment with the size of the room as the pictures online were misleading however it was lovely and clean and we enjoyed our stay.

Really good location and very clean hotel

A little disappointed with the room for what we paid, we had a sea view but on the ground floor looking through the car park. Room was cleaned everyday and new towels everyday too, was expecting a little more relating to the room but I wouldn’t say it spoiled my holiday, it was adequate. I was amazed how many people left litter around the sun-beds on the beach, leaving the two lovely helpful lads working there to clean it up usually the next morning. I do think that should be addressed by the hotel and guests told to pick it up. I’d be happy to stay there again.

15€ Charge for the sunbeds/ umbrella, although they were like the rest of the hotel clean and in very good condition, and very comfortable. There was good free hotel wifi at the beach and the beds also came with 2 bottles of water. The sunbeds could also be accessed by general public for same fee - perhaps guests should get a discount.

The hotel is located right next to the beach and very close to the center of Skala with various restaurants, cafés and shops. Rooms and pool were always clean and well prepared. Staff was very supportive and polite at all times.

Sunbeds at the beach cost extra, even for hotel guests - consequently we stayed at the pool area and just went for a swim in the sea most of the times. Internet connection is very poor in rooms but good in pool area. Airport transfer is only possible by taxi, which is with 60€ very expensive. Alarm light in room above the door shines very bright - we needed to cover it. Breakfast is very basic and does not offer any variety.

I had a wonderful time at Makis Hotel in Kefalonia. The staff were friendly, the location was perfect, close to the beach and town and the rooms were clean and comfortable. I especially enjoyed relaxing by the pool and starting each day with a tasty breakfast. Highly recommended!

The only downside was that the pool could use a bit of TLC, it was a little dirty at times, and the ladders felt a bit loose. Otherwise, everything else was great!
