The staff were A-MAZING. The owner is on site and you can tell their attention to detail. The rooms were clean and updated. Grounds were beautiful, clean, and well maintained. The proximity to the beach was fantastic and the hotel provided umbrella service at the beach as well as food and drink service to the beach. Beach was great and there is a water sports company close by so my kids enjoyed that. The kids enjoyed the hotel pool. Hotel bar provided a variety of food and drink options, including fresh, healthy smoothies and yummy, milk shakes. Back to the staff...they were super friendly and accommodating. We were in a jam and they went above and beyond to help us out. This is a well run hotel and just made our vacation that much better.

The room keys and safe need updating.

The hotel is located right next to the beach and very close to the center of Skala with various restaurants, cafés and shops. Rooms and pool were always clean and well prepared. Staff was very supportive and polite at all times.

Sunbeds at the beach cost extra, even for hotel guests - consequently we stayed at the pool area and just went for a swim in the sea most of the times. Internet connection is very poor in rooms but good in pool area. Airport transfer is only possible by taxi, which is with 60€ very expensive. Alarm light in room above the door shines very bright - we needed to cover it. Breakfast is very basic and does not offer any variety.

Really good location and very clean hotel

A little disappointed with the room for what we paid, we had a sea view but on the ground floor looking through the car park. Room was cleaned everyday and new towels everyday too, was expecting a little more relating to the room but I wouldn’t say it spoiled my holiday, it was adequate. I was amazed how many people left litter around the sun-beds on the beach, leaving the two lovely helpful lads working there to clean it up usually the next morning. I do think that should be addressed by the hotel and guests told to pick it up. I’d be happy to stay there again.

We had a great stay at Makis. The position is ideal for easy access to tavernas and beach. Beach beds were the most comfortable we’ve experienced. Staff were very friendly and professional. The rooms were quite basic but recently refurbed, so modern and clean with comfy beds. The landscaping around the hotel was attractive and well kept. We would happily stay again.

Breakfast was a bit disorganised … never quite enough clean glasses or cups available. The swimming pool is quite old and due a refurbishment , the steps into it are worn and wobbly.

The location of Makis Hotel is perfectly situated for easy access to the centre of Skala. There is a nice pool with ample sunbeds but I used the beach just across the road. Sunbeds are chargeable on the beach but you get a free bottle of water and sometimes melon - a nice touch. You can order food and drink from your sun lounger on the beach and staff bring it to you. The pool bar offers a great selection of food and drink at reasonable prices. Rooms are a good size and have everything you need. Wifi was great, even on the beach. The staff are fab and a credit to the hotel.

Kettle and tea bags were provided in the room but no coffee or milk.

Breakfast was excellent, wide choice of pastries, fruit, cooked breakfast. Location, facilities were excellent, across the road from the sea. I was lucky enough to have a room facing the sea which was wonderful. Very relaxing environment. Would definitely stay again.

People putting their towels on the sunbeds early in the morning and not returning for a few hours.

Been to a couple of hotels during our stay here in Skala this week and Makis is by far the best hotel. Having nosed around other hotels, I'd say it's probably the best one out of all the hotels located a couple of minutes walk from the main high street of Skala. The staff were young, professional, very friendly, smiley and helpful in every interaction we had with them. The rooms are all newly decorated with great furniture and the beds are very comfortable. Showers were great. The place was kept constantly clean and maintained perfectly. The pool is small, very well kept and never felt full. The bar next to it had everything you need including craft beer. Cross the road and they have their own beach set-up with comfortable cushioned sun beds and large umbrellas. Most of all, and I don't say this lightly, they seem to attract good clientele with a mixture of families and older couples looking for a relaxed quiet atmosphere from which to go to town where there are plenty of tavernas, restaurants, bars and shops to enjoy. Our next trip to Kefalonia, will once again be spent in this same hotel, guaranteed.

Nothing

The rooms are very beautiful and comfortable. Nice and cozy styled in boho style. Its just a 2-3mins walk to the beach. The hotel employees were everytime very helpful and friendly if needed. The swimmingpool is a nice advantage if the weather is a bit colder and the sea wavy. The location is great nearby you can find restaurants with delicious local meals. We enjoyed our vacation in Kefalonia so much and would recommend for every traveler to visit.

the breakfast could be more local, basic greek style foods like olives, feta cheese, olive oil or pita bread would be really appeeciable

Excellent buffet breakfast. A good selection, especially good on fresh fruit. The breakfast area was on the 1st floor, overlooking the pool and with a good view to the beach. You could choose to sit either outside on the terrace, or inside in the shade.

Just one very minor point - the only teabags provided were PG Tips. Fine but could have done with more variety - e.g. Green or Earl Grey.

Modern decor, lovely balcony with a sea view! Great pool area with plenty of sun beds and cabanas. Brilliant selection of food & drink on the menu & for breakfast. Fantastic location, minutes walk to the beach, taxi rank, bars & restaurants and a supermarket. Couldn’t rate it more highly, we loved our stay!
