We were self catering, which is as we like it but the supermarket was very close by. Tony was there to welcome us and even helped us to take our cases upstairs! As you expect with Greece, it is quite basic but the Aircon is included in the price and it's good too, also the safety deposit box. For us it was perfect. It's about 10 minutes walk to the beach and about 20-30 mins walk (depending on how quickly you walk)to the town centre with so many great restaurants and bars. The hill going up to the apartments is pretty steep and can be a bit of a challenge on your way back but if you're fit or have hired a car then it's definitely worth the effort. The rooms are kept spotless by a lovely lady. We got a taxi that was recommended by Tony to and from the airport which was €60 each way, about one hour or so. Would I go back, most certainly, we loved it.

The hill up to the apartments could be a challenge for some without a car or not very fit. If it had a swimming pool then it would be absolutely fantastic, but then I'm sure it would be probably be much more expensive and out of our price bracket. Other than that there was nothing that we didn't like 😄

Very friendly and responsive host, great location: only a few minutes walk to the beach, restaurants and a very short walk to town centre (around 10 minutes walk). Big room with very specious balcony, table and chairs and amazing view to the sea. The room was cleaned every day, so it was very clean and tidy. The room has kettle, cutlery, pots, dishes, cups, and fridge, so there are no issues to cook your own food, but there are plenty of restaurants to choose from in Skala as well.The supermarket is just down the hill, 2 minutes walk. Property is located on the hill, so it is far enough from the noise and is very peaceful and quiet: we had a great sleep, and the bed was huge and comfy! The outside area is beautiful as well with lots of flowers, blossoming bushes, and well kept. The only thing that could make this place even better would be a swimming pool 😊 but it was not an issue for us at all, having beaches nearby or within driving distance. It is not a downside, just a suggestion 😊 Skala seemed quiet and nice, but we only spent one evening there as we were travelling to different locations every day and explored the whole island (stayed in Summer Sun for around half of our trip). Just down the hill (2 minutes walk), there is a very nice "Ammos beach bar" with a lounge vibe, perfect for cocktails or so to finish the day. Beautiful interior, sitting outdoors under the roof. From nearby places, I would definitely recommend visiting Poros, which is only around a 20-minute drive from Skala. Go for lunch or dinner in "Agrapidos Taverna" - it is located on the hill and has an amazing view of the sea, town and mountains! There are loads of great places in Kefalonia, but I would probably have to do a separate review! 😊

We really loved our holiday at Summer Sun Apartments. For us it was a perfect, peaceful, stunning location within walkable distance into Skala town. Although air conditioning is available in the rooms we prefer a natural breeze so mosquito nets at the windows was a real bonus for us (didn’t see a single mosquito) Daily maid service was very efficient and respectful of our desire for late leisurely wake ups (we got lots of sleep) We chose to eat out, but the kitchenette area had all of the essentials for basic meals and/or drinks (the apartments are situated a short distance behind the largest supermarket in Skala which was a bonus for supplies too) Select local hoteliers are more than happy for you to use their facilities if a pool is high on your priority list (as a gesture of thanks we coupled the use of a nearby pool with lunch/snacks) We swam in the sea most days too (top tip is to take sea shoes as it’s a pebbly beach at Skala) WiFi is very reliable here. There are no hidden extra costs ….a safe is provided ….a check out time of mid-day is very convenient if you have a later flight home. We appreciated good comms from Antonis prior to arrival as well as a warm welcome from Spiros (along with a very thoughtful gift of a homemade blend given to us during our stay) Thank you to the Solomos family & their team :)

We stayed here for five weeks. We used the provided equipment for self catering some days and sometimes ate out. Beautiful views and amazing flowers in the garden. Spiros the owner came everyday, a lovely friendly man. Our lady housekeeper came every day and worked hard in a heatwave to clean our room. Clean towels every third day .

Only a couple of negatives, one we wish we could have stayed longer, two a pool would make it perfect, . There is a steep hill to the property and if you have mobility issues you definitely would need transportation up and down it.

The apartment is situated on a hill with a lovely view overlooking the sea. It was very comfortable for me as a solo traveler, and I really appreciated the spaciousness. The parking is conveniently located in front of the apartment, behind a secure, closed gate. It's just a 3-minute walk to the nearest supermarket and beach, and about 8 minutes to the village center. A big bonus is that the apartment is serviced daily, adding to the overall comfort.

One note about the location: when walking up the hill at night, the public road lacks adequate street lighting, so it's a bit dark.

We received an apartment with a sea view, a large bedroom, a spacious kitchen and living room, and a huge bathroom. It was very convenient to get organized in the apartment. It's very close to the sea and all the nearby restaurants. The hosts are very nice, kind, and helpful, answering all our questions. We really enjoyed our stay.

The only downside of the place is the spring mattress, which is very uncomfortable for sleeping. We would suggest the owners replace the mattress with a new one, which would make the place perfect.

The apartment is in a perfect location, just a short walk to the beach and around 10 minutes to the centre of Skala. It has everything you need for your stay and is very clean!

The only negative was that the bed was so uncomfortable, it’s like sleeping on plywood. Me and my partner really struggled to sleep during our 3 night stay.

Beautiful location. Flowery terrace that looked out onto the sea. Property very well maintained, spotlessly clean and efficiently run. The hosts clearly take pride in their property. Basic kitchenette with fridge, hotplates and kettle. Good shower. Short walk down the hill to a big sandy beach. Easy parking. I would happily return.

The mattress was hard and you could feel the springs through it.

Close to the beach with great sea views and not too far from the main village, about 20 minutes walk. The accommodation has free parking and there is a supermarket and bakery nearby for provisions. Antonis and staff were very friendly, the outside space was well maintained. The balcony and room was spacious and well equipped.

There was nothing to dislike. The property is situated up a hill so may be a consideration for those with mobility difficulties.

Peaceful, clean & good location with great views. Host was lovely.

Ground floor studio we stayed in the kitchen area was too small - no work surface area to prepare food just a sink, small fridge, draining board & cooker rings. No table inside to eat (too hot to eat breakfast outside). Hill upto the apartment could be challenging for some.
