Beautiful property amidst the serenity of Shimla. The location of the resort is away from the hustle of the town, still proximate to Mall road. The rooms are maintained as a heritage with all the modern amenities. I had stayed in the British cottage and can't really express the pride. There are other cottages too and one can chose as per the budget. If you are coming with your family, I would advise British or Scottish one. The restaurant is decent with space outside to enjoy your meals amidst the beautiful weather and surroundings. Top notch I would say. The meals are tasty. I specially liked the Chinese and I can vouch it's outstanding. There are enough space for parking and the road is also accessible. They also help you with cabs if you need that. The staff are all well trained and behaved. I got the chance to meet the owner, Mr. Goel, and must confess he is one really modest and welcoming. The best part is that the owner stays in the property itself. And Yes, its a pet friendly resort 😁 Overall, a great experience for someone with aesthetic sense and want to enjoy Shimla at its best !!

Well, let me tell you about it, it's deep down in the heart of forest, definitely not for you if you're not a skilled driver, but wait, give them a call before you try to land , they'll assist you, they will literally send their drivers up to bring your vehicle down if you can't, also they'll land it up, don't doubt the drivers, they are the best, coming to the staff, show them the respect they deserve and belive me they lay down their lives for you , "ji kaho ji keheleao", they literally would go out of the way to serve without any expectations.., their senior manager Mr. Dinesh is awesome, he knows the term hospitality really well, Mr Jatin, Mr Sachin and I am sorry I forgot the name of the gentleman driver , they will help you thoroughly, book them and you'll not regret, it's pet friendly and their St.Bernard(doggo), Mr. Marshall will guide to the trails, no fear of monkeys as the territory is well guided by the decent Langoors , go for it, don't be scared of the road, their assistance is upto the mark... Owner if the property Mr. Goel is a delightful person…always there to help you out. Pardon my typing errors..also I apologise for not mentioning MS.Teena, she’s like a pillar to this establishment

The best part about Shimla British Resort is its prime location—situated in a nice forest, it offers a peaceful, secluded retreat. My favorite spot at the resort was the open space outside our Villa Rooms, where we had a nice evening Bornfire Night. The rooms were also well maintained, and the staff were incredibly attentive—perhaps even a bit too helpful at times! The daily breakfast was delicious, served in a stunning setting.

The road to the property is a bit steep, but motorable

Shimla British Resort was a hidden gem! The staff was incredibly friendly, especially Sachin from HK. The food was delicious, and the bonfire nights were magical. Can’t wait to visit again! Stayed there for 2 nights in my 7 day trip to Himachal. Will probably stay here on my way back as well

An absolute delight for nature lovers! I woke up to breathtaking forest views and enjoyed a peaceful garden walk. My Shimla Visit was completed with the quite and peaceful Resort Stay. It was just what we needed. The food and service were good and the Tandoori items were lovely!

The ambience

Nothing as such

We are a British couple used to travelling and making the most of things. Shimla British Resort was hard to review as we did enjoy it because it was quirky and had character. However, it did have some obvious flaws, which I will mention. I would like to say that the staff were very welcoming and although we didn't really spend that much of our time there, as we were out exploring, they were super helpful and accommodating. The bedroom was large, had a large comfortable bed and we had an adequate shower and toilet room with hot water for showers. Although up/down a steep hill, it was around a 20min walk to the main mall street area of Shimla and it's "off the beaten track" vibe was good for us, nestled in some forest area.

So although we enjoyed our stay, we did have a few question mark moments when we arrived. I would like to say before I start, they were not a huge deal as we are pretty laid-back, but worth a mention. The property is relatively worn compared to some to the images online, we could live with that considering its well over 100 years old, however could be deemed a little cheeky not to show more up to date pics. For example, our balcony rail was rotting away, the door was also rotten at the bottom, there was a bit of dodgy wiring on the bathroom extractor fan and the decor was a little dusty. As mentioned, the road to the resort is at a steep angle so if you're unfit or elderly this may cause a problem and require transport into central Shimla. Although this, in my eyes, is part and parcel of being in the foot hills of the himalayas! There is a lot of construction around the historical houses and the owners are building a large hotel in between the two plots. At the moment it does look like a Multi-storey Car Park, however they did mention it should be finished in a few years and all in all wasn't the end of the world but maybe could be mentioned in the hotel information. In conclusion - We enjoyed our stay in this character hotel, the staff were very friendly and we got used to the quirks. A little overpriced considering the above issues and inaccuracies in the advertising!
