Somit is friendly and helpful. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed the position, as it's close to the main ghat and right in the middle of the northern and southern part of Varanasi. If you wish, they offer many services (guided personalized tours, courses etc). We appreciated that the owner also run a school for children in need, if you feel like giving them lessons you can also ask Somit to help as a volunteer.

The room is not the most comfortable in the word, it's just a room for sleeping at night (we had a double room with AC).

This is the second time I've stayed in this place. Very convenient location, hospitable and friendly host and staff. Nice large rooms, hot water, air conditioning, fan, sockets. There is something to do in the evenings if you prefer to stay at the hotel. Lots of activities. Somit also opens educational centers for children. which is very generous and heartfelt and adds to the benefits of this whole place.

The Owner was helpful and flexible. There was a restaurant in the hostel where you got good and healthy vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. It was close to the river Ganges and the main body burning place was also quite close. It was far enough from crowded and noisy streets. The room was quite big with enough space.

Only one toilet and shower for the guests. It didn't seem to be a problem though. In emergency cases you could probably use the owners toilet too. No personal power sockets or lockers. There were few power sockets available in the room but not enough for everyone to use them at the same time. Not a big problem during my visit though. There were 8 or nine beds in the room which were in open space so no privacy. I don't know if there was an airconditioner but it wasn't needed because it was winter and cold enough during the night. Not too cold though.

Great location walking distance to the main ghats, very nice owner Somit and his family, he can teach you yoga and various things. The double room had a/c and a fan hot water which was very welcome after a sweaty day exploring the ghats They also serve food which was very tasty, and have some seating on the rooftop where there’s some plants. You can help teach the street children that come most days for a lesson if you have some ideas, which I unfortunately didn’t get time to do but can imagine would be quite rewarding.

Somit and the lovely staff make this place great. His heart and mission are really special and what drew me to this property. Location is excellent, though I did get lost a couple times. Really only 5 minutes from the main aarti ghat! Somit has many offers if you want a tour, massage, etc. A worthwhile experience.

The property is old and accommodation is very basic, but I did not mind at all personally, just something to note for guests.

It’s a great value for money stay close to all the (tourist) attractions. Also, what made it especially better as compared to other budget hostels, is that a part of this hostel is turned into a free school for local children in the evening. It’s a great initiative to improve the livelihoods of the community.

Somit house is a chill place in the best place of Varanasi, as everything interesting is so close to it. The owner Somit is auch a nice guy, there are quite a lot of activities to do and the room was clean and silent. I really recommend it in Varanasi!!!

Feeling very homely best if you directly contact by management online booking by some side they don't accept so better direct contact and day give offer and donation based room too super cool place budget friendly and owner with everyone here very friendly helpful ...we were here for 3 nights with friends super good and good sleep newt and clean the bathroom .. location is great near ma ganga . Ground floor he run free school for underprivileged kids and room cost going to support .... rooftop restaurant is cool and fresh foods ... Somit is yoga teacher too but we did not receive any class many foreigners come here for classes...anyway happy stay highly recommend...all the best Somit and his team...

Little inside the alleys but ok..

It is very near of mother ganga and kashi vishwanath temple is very near from these accommodation. Positive point is here that family accommodation not hotel type... I was here in dormitory room with sharing other peoples... No locker here but we can keep the expensive things on reception... When I asked why not locker Somit said in past people's stolen in locker box... From that time no locker... I think good way... What he is doing his social work for free school for the kids is super... Should to visit here...

The Veg Kofta and Eggplant Pakoda were fantastic. Highly recommend eating here at least once to enjoy the homecooked food, which was made with care and attention. The beds are very comfortable and Somit is doing some great work helping to educate kids cannot afford to pay. The guesthouse organises many activities such as boat tours, walking tours, cooking lessons, yoga etc. Highly recommend staying here. Also the children are a delight to talk to and get to know a little.
