Our stay at Hotel Paola… We were greeted by Marco who was very pleasant and hospitable. He was very helpful and he recommended a place for us to eat dinner. That place was amazingly delicious. We ate so much. The next morning he was there making coffee for us. The breakfast looked and tasted great. Our place was clean and very welcoming. We have everything we ever needed. The place is tastefully decorated. Sad to say goodbye to Marco. He was amazing! But we have 18 mile Via Francigena journey to San Miniato ahead of us. Hotel Paola was a great stay.

Good location and reasonable price.

Check weather as AC is “seasonal”. We arrived on an 80 deg F day. Hotel promotes AC and double paned glass. When it is warm like we experienced this last week and cooling organ part of AC is not turned on the road noise is unbareable. The front desk guy (owner) kept arguing that the hotel has AC. In an 80 deg F day he kept saying “we have AC if you want it warmer push the up button”!!! l asked for a fan or fan function of AC to be enabled to lessen traffic noise and he said “no because if i do it for you I have to do it for everyone”. He said “road noise is not an issue if you keep windows closed” Based on other negative comments the responder will trash my honest response. Good weather in April great place. First off Marco and Paola were exceptional hosts. I was traveling with my mom and two of her friends, all three are in their 80's. Marco and Paola were so welcoming and accommodating. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The breakfast was amazing, especially the cappuccino. We enjoyed the fresh breads and pastries, the jams, yogurts and juices. There was a little noise from the street, as the hotel was directly on a well traveled road, but it was not an issue at night as our rooms faced the back of the hotel. Marco was more than helpful with advice or answering any questions we had. The hotel was a short walk to the train station and to the center of town. There were plenty of restaurant and cafe choices in town.

The driveway to the hotel was a bit narrow and required precise maneuvering, but otherwise parking was fine. There was a little noise from the street, as the hotel was directly on a well traveled road.

In spite of the one-star classification, this small hotel offers an excellent room, bed and shower, and is situated right on the Via Francigena, five minutes walking from the historic centre of Altopascio with it's restaurants and bars.

The hotel is on a busy road, but the sound isolation is very good.

Check in was very pleasant and we were warmly welcomed. Our room was bright, clean and very comfortable. The shower was hot. There was a kettle and cups in the room as well. The bed was good too.

The location is about a five minute walk to restaurants etc but the high quality of our room negated the walk completely.

Advised hotel was doing the francigena and arrival time would vary but no-one around until 2.30pm....

There WAS a balcony but a huge plant occupied the table of the bistro set table & chairs so they weren't exactly encouraging anyone to actually use it...

Very clean and comfortable. Ideal for walking via Francigena. Sink and rack outside for washing clothes. The road is busy but windows exclude noise well and AC worked for us. Appreciated kettle and fridge in the room.

Shame you can’t check in until 2.30 but I understand why and it is clear from information available that this is the case.

The host was very friendly. The property was very clean and spacious. We were given plenty of info about the restaurants etc. Comfortable bed, and air-conditioning very easy to adjust.

Its a little bit away from the centre if you are on foot.

The hotel had a very nice standard exceeding its rating of only one star (we would have given it at least 3). Located in a small cozy town. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

The air conditioning unit was a bit noisy, didnt bother us too much though.

All marble small boutique hotel full of charm. The hotel is spotless clean as are the rooms and bathroom. Beautiful chandeliers everywhere, decorations are elegant. The breakfast room is lovely and elegant and the breakfast is tasty. The air conditioning in the room worked very well and we had a balcony. There are parking spaces available in the back of the hotel, but the entrance is quite narrow, but doable after two tries. The hotel building is nothing special and the buildings next to it are falling apart and rather ugly. But the hotel is well-situated and you can walk to the center of the town which is very picturesque and has some nice restaurants and shops.

There is no elevator, so you do have to carry your own luggage to the rooms.
