We loved our stay at Villa Moorings! The hotel is set in a gorgeous old Liberty-style villa with tons of character—high ceilings, cool old tiles, and vintage charm everywhere you look. It really feels like stepping back in time, but in the best way. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful, with a lovely garden and a pool that’s perfect for relaxing. And the views of the surrounding hills and town are just stunning. One of the best parts is the location—it’s only a short walk to Barga’s historic town center, so it’s easy to explore, grab a coffee, or head out for dinner without needing a car. If you’re looking for a unique, quiet spot with history and charm in a picturesque setting, this place is a gem. We’d definitely stay here again!

Great communication from hotel manager. Very accommodating and kind when our group arrived late. The hotel had plenty of secure parking for our group motorcycles. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and we were treated like family. The staff were polite and helpful. The room was well equipped and clean. The breakfast was superb and the pool was clean and well maintained. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We will definitely return again to this wonderful Villa Moorings.

We were only there for two nights!

The hotel location to the town of Barga. The pool is excellent The room was air conditioned, handy when the temperature during our stay was mid thirties. Lovely choice of breakfast food. Staff are brilliant. Beautiful building.

There's no lift, which is ok normally, but when climbing to top floor (3rd)with heavy suitcases can be awkward , especially in hot conditions. Some rooms don't have "normal" windows, IE, our rooms' window was at floor level, so no view of the town or the beautiful surrounding area.

Everything, the staff were lovely and so helpful ! Everything in the hotel was amazing and exceeded our expectations. The walk to the old town was easy although there are some steep streets so anyone with mobility issues may find it challenging, just take your time and enjoy the beauty of this amazing town and the breathtaking views ! The breakfast at the hotel was delicious and the lady looking after us couldn't do enough for us, we really don't want to leave !!

Breakfast table was lovely , good selection, Happy to make us pancakes or eggs in whatever way we wanted . Staff were lovely . Room was large , air-conditioning was a blessing , I loved the casual feel of this hotel more like staying in a very large villa .

Not much to dislike , perhaps a small lunch menu would have been welcome . Also the hotel is very quiet at night so if you wanted to stay in and have a drink at the bar not really an option , however you are yards from the town centre so not really a requirement .

Lovely large rooms in a large villa. Just enough bo-ho decor to be interseting and not busy. Staff are lovely and genuine. Breakfast is over the top, so much choice.

Would like More pillows (only two). Like a TV that had more options than just italian channels.

We loved this villa from early 1900s with its remarkable Art Nouveau decor and furnishings, large rooms, including a terrace for the buffet breakfast, a lovely garden setting a short walk from central Barga, safe parking, and a great welcome from the staff, notably Nadia and Beatrice. When we left something important behind Beatrice organized a courier to send it to us at our next location, for which we were very grateful. It would be a pleasure to stay again.

Set in a beautiful 100 year old villa our room was perfect. We loved staying at VM. The staff were delightful, funny and very helpful. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Everything we needed was available. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious with warm, fresh focaccia, homemade muffins and cakes, plus fresh cold cuts and cheeses. Eggs cooked perfectly to order and good coffee. Aperitivo in the bar 🍸 👌 😎 🤪 excellent. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Villa Moorings is a lovely place with incredibly kind staff, spotless and beautifully decorated rooms, and a truly excellent breakfast. We felt very welcome and comfortable throughout our stay. A real gem — we’d happily come back!

All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was superb!!! Location is great, just a stones throw from everything Barga has to offer. We highly recommend and will definitely be returning!
