I visited Hotel California as the start of my hiking route in the Val d'Ayas. It has great location near a park with beautiful wooden figurines, it's a great place to stay for a family. The personnel was very passionate about music and each room was inspired by an American band or singer, creating a very personal and enjoyable ambience. The breakfast included local cheeses and freshly baked bread. I will visit again!

The hotel was quiet (low season and midweek) when we visited but the staff looked after us extremely well and we were made to feel very welcome. For a 3* hotel everything was fine and it was a good value for money option for our 3 day ski break.

The hotel location means it’s a short walk (15 mins) into the main ski lift area, it’s a similar walk to the Frachey lift. There’s also a shuttle, bus service or you can self drive and park.

For the price, nothing to criticise. If you want to go skiing, be aware it is not walking distance to the gondola so you would need to drive or use ski bus

The location is good if you want to hike in the mountains and this is the only positive about this hotel.

The hotel is very old and poorly maintained. Everything in my room was in a terrible condition: the floor, the bed, the bathroom and towels. The heating in my room was not working. The fan is the bathroom was so noisy you can hear it from a mile away. The blanket was without a cotton cover, which reminded me about the early 20th or even 19th century. During the second day of may stay in the hotel, at 10 in the morning I was unable to enter the hotel because the entire hotel was completely locked from the outside and no one answered the emergency phone number indicated on the front door. The staff told me they have locked the hotel because they were thinking I am inside of my room.
