As Americans, I wanted to share the traditional ryokan experience with my family. Our daughter loves everything Japanese, so she was in heaven with everything (food, accommodations, kimono, and the decor). The staff was on point and even came out to our car and brought us umbrellas when we parked and carried in our luggage from our rental car.

Again, for me and my wife-we aren't as adventurous with our food selections. So a western sushi restaurant has a lot more Americanized versions and the traditional Japanese meal we had was a bit out of our comfort zone-but we signed up for the full experience and totally got it!

From even before we arrived, everyone we spoke with from the ryokan was incredibly helpful and accommodating. When we arrived, it was such a welcoming check in and very thorough. Our room was beyond what we expected, perfectly clean, much larger, great views, we couldn't ask for anything more. Our dinner and breakfast was beautiful and delicious, and the staff even helped me get a cake and local sake for my husband's birthday as a surprise! The onsen itself was perfect and so easy to operate. The location offered so much too that we loved exploring Mt. Aso and other local sites before we arrived. We wish we could've stayed even longer.

Very nice and comfortable room Baby crib and chair were provided - but seemed more appropriate for above 1 year old Onsen tub was one of the best we have stayed in Breakfast and dinner were served in the room, which was very convenient for us with a baby

Location is difficult to get to without a car Very sticky about the check in time of 3pm - unable to check in any earlier and nowhere to chill around the hotel while waiting for the room to be ready

This is really a very nice ryokan. The room has 2 floors, with the second floor having a bedroom and a balcony with a mountain view. The first floor has a dining area and a very very nice private bath. Hands-down the best private in-room bath we have ever experienced. It's really very good bath. Dinner and breakfast were great too.

Top notch facilities and service, staff go out of the way to make the stay pleasant. Very nice view of mountain from my room and also the public onsen. I also left my phone behind at the property and the staff helped to express courier it to my next destination. Very impressed by their service level.

We love wonderful dinner and breakfast, very delicious. All are excellent, and all of us enjoyed hot spring inside the room.

Perhaps the price but worthy to stay for a night

Everything was so well arranged and organised. Appreciate their attention to detail. Dinner was served on time with lots of food. The staff were all so attentive and hardworking. Must stay place if you are in Aso. We will definitely stay again if we are back to kyushu the next time. Highly recommended.
