Friendly staff, he even bought the kids ice cream our first night which was soooo nice! Always available if needed. The common lounge and rooftop had great views and were comfortable. The beds were comfortable too, and the Onsen was great -hottest Onsen I've experienced on Japan, so you might not want to go when it first opens. (Onsen hours are 5-10pm, alternating with women first, then men, when women again). The Onsen facilities were good and clean.

Everything was great. It is right between the station and beach, but no convenient bus. Not at all a problem for an adult, but my kids got a bit tired climbing the hill after beach time. But we all managed and had a great time!

Atami Onsen was awesome! Seki, the front door manager, was extremely helpful, spoke good English and was just all-around nice and very helpful. The hotel, overall, was a wonderful experience. I will say the dormitory style cubicle room, did not have the most comfortable futon mattress, but that's ok, I didn't have high hopes for that anyways. Breakfast was very traditional, light and simple, but very good. The hot springs were excellent, although their hours were very strict, only available from 7 to 930, for men, which was a bit of a bummer. Overall, I had a nice experience here and would go back, especially for the price!

Onsen hours could have been longer!

guest house megumi is one of the loveliest places i’ve stayed in a while! the property is up a pretty steep hill, so i got my morning exercise climbing up and down. stayed for two nights in the dorm and the bunks were very comfortable, the curtains made for a good amount of breeze that ventilated the room well and kept me cool. the onsen was in fantastic condition and loved using it every night. the owner was so sweet and kind, old chinese man who clearly is passionate about his job and his property. we conversed in english, japanese, and mandarin, and always asked me how the room was, the facilities, even helped with my doing laundry. would definitely come back again <3 谢谢您!

One of the best hostels I have ever been to, not only in Japan, but in general. To start with, staff were incredible, hard working and always there to help if needed. Location was perfect, facilities were great, really nice atmosphere, cosy beds and great views from the living room and the roof. I originally booked two nights there, though ended up staying for six. Highly recommended! Really, deserves a 10/10 in my opinion.

I could not really think of anything negative about this hostel, I just had a super nice stay. The hostel really felt like home to me in the six nights I stayed there.

The room was nice and well kept, beds were comfortable, the bath/shower was great. The staff was nice. A great view in the morning and at night. They held our bags for us before checking in and after checking out so we could explore.

The bath time worked out for us, but only being able to bathe at night during a 2 hour and 20 minute window might be a turn off for some. Guys could use the onsen between 19:00-21:20. Women could use it for about an hour and some change before and after that, but the onsen was really nice. The breakfast was as advertised, but still a bit disappointing. The directions to get to the hostel did help, but it’s still out of the way and a bit harder to find than expected.

We only stayed for one night for the firework festival. The owner of the Guest House is super friendly and helpful. He showed us on a map where were the places that worth visiting when we asked him about it. Also, he allowed us to leave our luggages in the Guest House after checking out. When we tried to pick up the luggages, it was raining so hard. He even gave us 2 umbrellas so we could go to the train station without getting wet. We really appreciate his kindness to make our Japan trip pleasant and memorable.

The guest house offered a delightful blend of affordability and comfort, striking a sweet spot in terms of value for money. The hospitality extended by the staff was particularly heartwarming. As I was accompanied by a Japanese friend, communication flowed smoothly, but it seemed evident that the staff are well-equipped to communicate in English too. Another highlight was the onsen, which provided a soothing, authentic experience. Additionally, the thoughtful gesture of the staff providing an umbrella due to the rain prior to our checkout added a personal touch to their service.

While the overall experience was quite pleasant, a minor drawback was the audible sounds at night, likely due to the wooden flooring. Although it wasn't a significant issue for me, it might be noteworthy for light sleepers. Also, the approach to the guest house felt somewhat isolated at night, which might be a concern for those who prefer more bustling surroundings.

Really nice location, close to shops, restaurants, the station and the beach. The view from the rooftop and the communal area is really nice and definitely one of the reasons to stay here. The staff is also really nice and kind and respectful of all guests, everything feels safe, overall had a really nice stay! The beds are comfortable and the room is made dark from 10pm to allow people to sleep. I would definitely stay again if I'm in Atami!

Nothing everything was good :)

Clean and well-appointed guest house, an easy walk from Atami station (with a short but quite steep driveway), very friendly and helpful owner, and .... in-house onsen (hot bath)!! Nice common room.

Paid extra for towels (but they were large and fluffy). Shared bathrooms and showers (as in the description). No restaurant in this district is open past 2000.
