Very large onsen (both indoor and outdoor). There’re 3 private onsen. No need to reserve but people rarely use them since they’re small compared to the public onsen. The room looks a bit old but still comfortable. Both breakfast and dinner are super delicious. Dinner is like a full course with satisfying amount of food. Each dish is special. The ramen at late night is also good. All staffs are very hospitable.

The hotel pick up car is scheduled every 30 mins. But it would be better if the pick up time accommodates the train schedule. My train arrive at 16:30. So when I get out the station, the car just leave and I have to wait for another 30 mins. It’s fine to walk to the hotel, but the road is climbing up so walking with a suitcase is tiring.

I honestly did not really know what I was expecting before my arrival. But this place is a lot bigger than I thought! It's fantastic. I love the garden and the trees. It was fantastic to just wander around. Enjoy the snacks that are offered from time to time. We loved how friendly the staff were. Our little apartment was perfect for our stay. Loved the little tatami area in our place where we could enjoy our green tea. The breakfast was divine; I would definitely recommend the Japanese style breakfast over everything. The onsen was awesome. So relaxing. There are private baths as well. But I would not really recommend them.

Can't think of anything! Other than the fact that it is maybe a bit too expensive. Not sure if the value was fully there

Absolutely loved my stay, from start to finish. I had high expectations as I treated myself to the half board for 1 night, and that was something I really wanted to experience while in Japan. I found others to be much more expensive, and the price at Kira No Sato was more so in my range - but really good value for money and didn't compromise on quality at all. First of all, it's easily accessible by train from Tokyo. You just need to do one change at Atami. Then, a shuttle picks you up from Izu Kogen, if you do time it right. Easy to find as well as they have a banner with the name of the ryokan. The staff is really hospitable, and they do speak good English. Great amenities. It's in some sort of village set-up, and super pleasant to stroll by. You basically wear the clothes the ryokan provide for you, and it's super comfy - with different sizes available. The room was great and of good size - you can admire the tranquil sea. Little snacks and coffee as a welcoming gift, great tea/coffee ware. Comfortable bed. You get a shower in the bathroom as you will enjoy the onsens anyways. re: the onsens, you get a really good variety of them. You get a few private ones you can lock, and these are amazing. But then, the public ones are amazing too - and really spacious, so you don't feel it's crowded at all. Food was really delicious and very filling - I had dinner and breakfast, you can choose between 2 options each time, and order drinks from the menu. The staff is very professional and reactive, they were able to communicate in English and explain the whole menu to me. Bonus: you get snacks during the day - and ramen for free in the evening, if you are still hungry! Highly recommend and will stay there again.

There weren't many people there when we were there, I had the whole public bath all to myself at one point. The public bath was quite a good size, 2 indoor, 2 outdoor, sauna room, a room with reclining style personal soaking options, and a couple small baths. Clean, well maintained. At night, it was beautiful. The three private baths were all really nice too. Small but nice. First come first serve. No reservation needed. The Japanese traditional room we had was spacious. You can tell the place is old, but well cleaned, and cared for. Beware of bugs tho, I got bitten by a centipede in the middle of the night while sleeping, woke up and saw a centipede in the bed. Dinner and breakfast were all excellent, even my picky-eater children ate almost everything. Overall, everything met my expectations, the train ride there from Tokyo was very scenic, stunning coastal view. Definitely recommend.

This was my group’s first stay in Japan, and our favorite by far. We were truly blown away with the accommodating and kind staff in the hotel as well as the restaurant. We added on dinner and breakfast last minute for our stay and highly recommend! The dinner service was delicious and great variety of coursed meals for the price. Knowing a bit of basic Japanese goes a long way, but the staff did use a translator when necessary which was appreciated. Additionally, they offer a lot of free snacks for guests (oden, ramen, etc). Would definitely come back here and recommend!

I was able to enjoy the natural beauty of Japan while also enjoying the incredible accommodations of a traditional ryokan. The food was very good and well-priced. The service was the real standout - all of the staff were incredibly polite, accommodating, and easy to speak to. They made several recommendations and it really enhanced my experience. The room was big.

This just comes with a traditional property: there are some spaces that don’t fit the average American easily (toilet, shower). But if you’re fine with a squeeze there you’ll have a great time elsewhere.

Staff were extremely helpful and friendly despite our group speaking no Japanese. One staff member at the reception spoke English and was able to explain everything to us. We were supplied Japanese garbs to wear around the resort and they were actually really comfortable to wear. The baths were beautiful and relaxing. Everything was very clean. The whole resort was genuinely as enchanting in person as the pictures make it seem, if not more.

Honestly this was the only stay on my trip I can't think of a single criticism of, but it was also the most expensive place we stayed.

This accommodation felt like a traditional Japanese style resort. We loved how big the whole place was and there were outdoor spaces to explore. A warm cute coat, on top of the usual yukata, was provided so we could go out into the cold to the restaurants and onsens. The main highlight was being able to experience staying in a traditional Japanese house with dark wood and tatami. Even the layout of the space was traditional and gave us a taste of Japanese living in the older days. Since this place is run by the same company operating Dormy Inns, there were the standard supper ramens, yakults and popsicles. There were also free baked sweet potatoes at 6pm and tasty oden at 7pm. It was a nice place to relax and just enjoy the facilities within the accommodation - we felt no need to get out after checking in. After breakfast, we tried out some of the traditional games and took a short walk before checking out. Shuttle bus was available at frequent intervals from Ito Kogen station. We found the dinner quite value-for-money. The dinner was delicious with good portion size - got to try seafood shabu shabu for the first time.

We had a private onsen tub in our room, however the water wasn't very clean and I could see many small specks of dust or whatever that was in the water. By comparison, the water in the private onsens for public use were cleaner. Not sure if this was because the water was already like this before we use it or if it was because we couldn't drain out the water and could only let the water run continuously and hence re-used the water. To be clear, we showered every time before entering the tub. Anyway, it was a pity as we really liked everything else.

This was an exceptional experience. All exceeded my expectations. We had a traditional japanese room with a private onsen. The room was immaculate and the onsen was quaint and peaceful. The breakfast and dinner were beyond words esthetically and taste. The public and private baths for guest use were beautiful and tranquil. There was a shuttle bus to pick you up from izu kogen station. It ran to and from the station every half hour. Knowing some japanese is helpful, but there's always Google translate.

Absolutely no complaints.

This is a magical place and we wouldn’t want to go away. We felt very comfortable and even pampered, everything was perfect. Communication with the place was smooth. We have got arranged a dinner and a breakfast which we’re not a part of original reservation. When ordering, keep in mind that the dinner is extremely voluminous and very filling. The beds were very comfortable and it was warm to sleep. In our room (apartment) the shower was outside, which was exotic but not at all inconvenient. We have tried all types of onsen on the premises, private and public and our personal little onsen bathtub. All were very relaxing and incredibly clean. Loved the whole experience, and we will definitely come again.
