It’s a beautiful setting and the food was absolutely delicious and thoughtful. The lady who welcomed us, Yaba San, was very kind and explained all our questions about the onsen and food with perfect English. The English menu for the dinner was a great touch, and it helped us to enjoy the food even more knowing the ingredients. The presentation was exquisite, and the flavor profile and texture was creative and cohesive. The items sold in the shop were very reasonable priced and well curated. I regretted that I didn’t have the time to purchased something from the shop. Each room was design for privacy and great view of the garden/plants. I truly enjoyed the morning coffee on the little deck outside the room. We love this place so much and we would visit again in the future.

There were a lot of spiders around the outdoor onsen. It’s understandable that there were creatures in the outdoor setting, but it could be scary for guests who are afraid of the spiders.

A traditional Japanese style onsen hotel with excellent service. The dinner offers great value of money, with fresh ingredients and delicious flavors. It was a perfect experience for me.

The only suggestion I have is to provide some meal options for ordering or to sell instant foods and snacks within the hotel. My mom cannot eat cold or raw food, but the dinner, aside from rice and miso soup, most of the dishes were served cold. This is not okay for guest with healthy concerns. I do understand that make changes on menu might be difficult, but, please, at least provide some warm instant foods:)

Absolutely loved our stay at Hanafubuki. We landed there after hiking the whole Jogasaki coast trail (one of trail exists is less then 10 min away from the ryokan) Located in a forest like setting the room had a balcony with most serene view. Staff was exceptional, attentive and so friendly. They spoke English well. We were able to schedule spa massage (for a fee) and it was so relaxing! The ryokan has many private onsen baths and you can try them all! No limits on how long you use one or how many times. Dinner was out of this world with abalone and tofu desert that became a highlight of our whole trip (note, menu is seasonal). The three options for the breakfast was a nice surprise, so we ended up getting 2 different options and sharing. I wish we stayed there longer. For the price, compared to other ryokans we stayed, this is a steal! Highly recommend.

We loved the quiet, natural setting and the 24 hour access to private hot spring baths. The room was nice and clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. Proximity to the Izu-Kogen train station and the Jogasaki Coast hike was excellent.

The walls and floors are thin so we could hear people above us and next to us a little louder than we would have liked. The food, though very well presented, was subpar in quality compared to what we had experienced anywhere else in Japan, including other restaurants in Izu-Kogen.

The hot springs are phenomenal, so warm and gentle on the skin, very private and relaxing. As if that wasn't God enough on its own, the meals are so versatile, interesting, and delicious, similar to how and what you'd expect to experience in a michelin star restaurant. The staff is attentive and very kind, explaining things slowly, removing the language barrier, entirely, asking often for your preferences and your feedback, as well as providing maps and recommendations for things to do nearby. I would give them 6 stars if I could.

The hotel is beautiful with their own scenic walk. Staff are extremely friendly and lovely. Breakfast and dinner are exceptionally good. The private hot spring are lovely because you can enjoy different scenery from the bath house.

There is a bit of walk (about 10 min) from the train station. There is no shuttle and feels a bit short to get Uber. Since I am traveling for 3 weeks in the summer, the luggage and carrying it to the Ryokan was difficult. The room was a little small and difficult to move around when the bedding was set.

The breakfast and dinner included in the stay were phenomenal. The staff was so friendly and the grounds were beautiful, peaceful and tranquil. We loved the different natural onsens to try each day along with wearing our yukatas around the ryokan. There's an amazing suspension bridge and trail leading to it that's only a 10 minute walk from Hanafubuki. We also had massages in our room. We made amazing memories and will definitely be back!

The beds on the floor took some getting used to but it's all part of the experience and I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.

This is an exceptional ryokan, especially for foreign and single travelers. There is a wide range of excellent onsen, that were very calming. The food was quite good, and there were some unique dishes that were both creative and delicious. The staff was friendly, and the rooms were clean and comfortable.

The outdoor baths were quite close to nature, and I found the local wildlife both calming and sometimes unexpected.

Friendly Staff, excellent services. Each spring hot water is different giving you different feeling. Relax and confortable place to stay. Nice environment for the room that I stay. Nice food as well.

If you are a visitor who doesn't drvie, it may take a little time for you to get there if you choose to walk. So if the hotel can provide a courtesy pickup and dropoff from the station, it will be add more points to the place. After all, it will only take, if I remember correct, 3 mins to drive to the station, but take me 15 mins to walk there.
