Beautiful location, surrounded by mountains, very friendly and helpful staff. Onsen was great after hiking for over 20km. The traditional style room is beautiful and the beds are comfortable. The lunch and dinner were on very high standard, with a lot of fish and meat options. More veggie options would have been much appreciated. Altogether we had an amazing stay and would be happy to go back.

Note that it is 25 minutes walk by from Harano station, but if you are not too tired from hiking all day, it is a beautiful walk.

Very traditional and the staff is really nice. Food is incredible (we had dinner and breakfast). It has a garden perfect for some sunset photos in kimono (provided by them). The hotel looks it was a hospital in the past but we didn’t mind it

As the reviews suggest, this hotel is really hard to find even with a car! I’d suggest they work on their google maps information

The rooms were large, and the futons were very comfortable. The shared facilities were nice and clean. The onsen was perfect after a full day out walking. The food was the highlight of the trip. Breakfast and dinner included, and they were unreal. It was perfectec delicious and abundant. We felt like in a family.

It is a bit far from the main town and busses are not that frequent. But if you are renting a car,no problem at all.

Great japanese style room, with futons, very spacious and comfortable. Friendly staff, open to our request to arrive a bit later as we were walking the Nakasendo Trail and depended on specific train schedules. There was a small onsen, which was very good after a day of walking. The japanese style breakfast was plentiful and tasty.

Amazing surroundings and mountain view, piece and quiet vibe. The room is traditional Japanese with tatamis and we haven’t slept so well anywhere else in our Japan travel. The bath was clean and we were the only people there so each of us had a small private onsen :) The breakfast was great, with miso soup and rice.

Nothing, I would gladly come back here again.

Large room, not busy, set in gardens. The futons and mattress were comfortable.We really enjoyed the dinner and the enthusiasm of the server. The price was lower than other similar properties in the Kiso Valley, probably because it is a few kilometres off the main road. We enjoyed our time there.

The breakfast didn’t match the quality of dinner.

I did not realize when booking this was closer to a traditional ryoken than hotel room. It was an unexpected joy! The onsen was wonderful and the room was so interesting. I'm thrilled we got to have this experience staying here. We ate at the sitting table, set up our beds, and walked on the traditional flooring. Again absolutely unexpected and wonderful! And the room was huge which was great for four people.

To our surprise, our host picked us up at the station. Staff was very kind and explained dinner and breakfast to us. We had asked for a vegetarian version in advance and enjoyed traditional, beautifully arranged meals. We were also given a room with ensuite bathroom. Thank you very much!

The building is not exactly charming, it may be an old youth hostel. The rooms and facilities are quite dated (but clean nevertheless).

Situated in beautiful garden by the river, Super clean, the place is modern and the rooms are traditional so it was a good combination for us. Was very happy with the onsen. Good value.

If you’re without a car you need to take a bus from Kiso-Fukushima station, check with the owner the bus time table.

The facilities are very nice, with spacious tatami rooms and a decent sized onsen-type bath. The view of the mountains is amazing, and the staff are very kind.

The location is quite far from the nearest train station (Harano eki), and the walk is uphill with few streetlights at night.
