The facility is about 600 meters (an 8-minute walk) from Kokura Station. It is approximately 150 meters from Uomachi Gintengai Street (魚町商店街), a covered shopping street lined with many eateries and shops. Please note that the hostel is surrounded by numerous nightclubs and bars. Its location also makes it easy to walk to Kokura Castle, Riverwalk Kitakyushu, and Tanga Market (旦過市場). If you are paying at the property, be sure to have cash on hand, as the hostel does not accept credit cards. I only needed a place to sleep for the night, and this place perfectly suited my needs. The host, Ai, was very kind. I had forgotten my phone charger, and she kindly lent me one.

It was very cheap which was perfect for a one night stay. It is surpringly clean and quiet for this type of accommodation. Check in was easy. I left my suitcase over night in a coin locker and only took what I needed in a large backpack which fit comfortably in the provided locker.

The bathroom is very humid and hot especially after a shower. I had to hold the door open for a few minutes for it to cool down. The mattress is VERY thin and I felt it was sleeping directly on the wooden board beneath. However even so, it's great value at for this price. I wouldn't stay any more than 2 nights though can't imagine the thin mattress would be good for anyone's backs

This is a nice place to stay for a few days (unless you need a luxurious stay :)). There are several important points. First, booking was free without any pre-payment. Second, the Guesthouse is just 6-8 min of a very easy almost straight walk from the Kokura Station. The hostess (Ai) was extremely friendly, explained everything about their rules and requirements. For this price, the single room is good, with a bed, a small sofa and a table (so I could work with a laptop (wi-fi was OK)), and an air conditioner (it was up to +31 oC in early Sept. outside). The shared facilities (toilets, showers, kitchen with two large fridges) were always kept clean and convenient. In the kitchen, there is everything one might need to cook or warm up a meal (a microwave, a gas stove, cold (drinking!) and hot tap water, an electric boiler (always ready with boiling water), an electric pressure cooker, a large set of kitchenware, etc.

I can't say that I didn't like something. However, it was a bit strange that the single-room bed was on the 2nd level (at a hight of about 1.2 m) with a small ladder, while it was just empty space under it. (Nevertheless, the space might be used for storing other things.) One small point for improvement: the sliding mosquito net on the window was old, with a gap at the edge, so it'd better be repaired to allow keeping the window open in the summer night.

It's small but cozy, I found it comfortable but if someone has a lot of luggage maybe hard to find space. Good internet, clean bathrooms. I found female dorms more comfortable because smaller and less people, less noise and cheaper than mix dorms which were noisy. The cheapest hostel in Japan so for this price is amazing

Strict for checkout time, impossible to sleep longer because of noise in dorms, cleaning. Strict for using the kitchen and living room when it's cleaning time 10-12 which exactly when I wanted to have breakfast.

The bed was very comfortable, but be careful when entering the lower beds, I bumped my head a few times.

I didn't like that I was asked to write my resident card number on the check-in form, even though I'm a permanent resident in Japan. By law, it is not required for residents who have an address in Japan to write their passport or resident card numbers. It's discrimination because they don't require this from Japanese citizens. I don't mind showing a hostel or hotel my card, but I refuse to let them make copies of such a private document. If everyone (including Japanese citizens) was required to do so, I would oblige, but this was not the case. I'm glad it was sorted out in the end.

The living area is very cosy and people are friendly. I think this is largely due to having long term tenants who make the space feel more like a home. Lockers are big enough for a bulky backpack with space to spare.

The beds, lockers, luggage storage and bathrooms are close together but in a narrow space, so it's hard to re-arrange without being inconvenient to others. I found it a little difficult to organise myself quietly in the morning in order to get the right things to take outside to the shower room. There's nowhere to hang coats/towels.

the capsule is bigger that I could sit straight without hitting my head. Shower is great! Free washing machine, location 8mins walk to station.

it locates at bars street I don’t know if night time would be a little bit dodgy. The capsule has a thick curtain which is good but also blocks the AC so it gets hot inside.

Near Kokura station. Staff was nice and really helpful (especially towards an inconvenient guest)

Surrounded by bars and karaoke bars. Sometimes woke up in the middle of the night with people singing at 4am, and even throwing up at 9am.

Great location, very good value for money. Ended up staying in a private room with my friend so can't comment on dorms. Facilities were clean, supplied shampoo, hairdryer, coffee. Quite a no-frill hostel, which I like. Feels very homey, I think it would be a nice place to stay a long time and make friends.

The staff are very friendly. The living room is a good space to eat, meet new people and relax. The kitchen is small but it has everything you need. The WiFi is good. Big lockers, with a padlock provided. If I were to stay in Kitakyushu again, I would definitely stay here.

The weather sucked but that's not their fault 😅 The bed isn't very comfortable.
