The location is amazing in a quiet street just a few meters away from the main strip, it was easy to find all the main attractions and with some intimate beautiful restaurants right next to the canal it was such a lovely walk in the evening. Extremely safe and charming neighborhood. We loved our stay; this traditional style hotel was just beautiful, and we especially enjoyed the stunning surroundings and impeccable service. I would recommend this, traditional yet modern Japanese hotel to any couple. Our hostel staff were lovely and accommodated us extremely well.

it wasn’t as central as I’d have liked it was a bit noisy at night, I think due to some local businesses and the fact we were on ground floor or something could you provide more solid pillows! they deflated flat - give pillow options (some people like firmer) the slippers were very difficult to wear - can you give lighter ones? the beds were too narrow for 2 people

Absolutely beautiful! The design was exceptional, such a pleasing and calming place to stay in. It was extremely comfortable, the bedding was luxurious and the outdoor/indoor baths were just gorgeous. Had all the simplicity of a traditional Japanese home yet with the modern convenience of air conditioning, bath that self-heats and stays warm and anything you would need for cooking. Can't wait to come back one day

Incredible!!! Massive house with stunning garden right in the centre of Kyoto. Nearby shops, kimono rental, bars, temples, etc. So well appointed, clean and comfortable! Can’t recommend enough. We managed to bag two nights for just under £400 in total and I think I’d have been happy even if we’d paid twice the amount!

Everything was really nice, comfy large place with a traditional touch, and a serene scenery. Really nice private outdoor tub with an amazing view.

The only thing was the loud voices feom the street. No sound proofing.

the complete lack of hooks in the bathroom. plus it’s quite dark downstairs and there are no mirrors upstairs so it was challenging to do my makeup

A funny smell, musty. There was a lot of noise from people in the street late at night, no hanging space in bedroom, the power tripped, no bowls or tea pot ( unusual for Japan) the kitchen generally not very well equipped-missing some basic items. I would have liked bedside lamps so you can read in bed. Nowhere to hang wet towels so they would stay damp and messy in bathroom. There was no guest information about the area, how to use things in the house, or where to go, restaurants, supermarkets or cafes, - any recommendations would have been good. The key code pad was temperamental- sometimes didn’t work.
