Hotel itself was great - nice onsen baths indoors and outdoors. Breakfast was plentiful and offered a good selection, mostly of Japanese food. The beds sat low, but were very comfortable.

Location could be better… It is a 15~20 min walk from the train station which isn’t too bad if you don’t have luggage to haul. But the route to the hotel lacks side walks in some parts and the ground is uneven. I wish they’d provide a shuttle service to/from the station, even if they have to charge some minimal fare. I inquired about ordering a cab at two different times, and the front desk staff seemed somewhat reluctant, saying it may be difficult to get on a weekend or it may take a long time due to traffic on a weekday. Not sure why. They said there is a city bus from the station, but its closest stops is a few long blocks away.

Stayed 2 days at the hotel and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff. They even had a English speaking staff to assist foreign tourists. I really felt "omotenashi" during my stay here. The facilities were great too and I'm so happy that they had free washing machine. You just needed to pay another 100 yen to dry your clothes for 20 mins. It was great that you could enjoy the onsen, wait for your laundry to finish, then enjoy the free ice-cream or probiotic drink after the onsen. Had breakfast during the New Year period and the food was great. There was a change in the menu on day 2, so I was impressed.

Nothing that I didn't like. I'm definitely returning again.

Hotel was modern and spacious (by Japan standards). Breakfast buffet was excellent. Staff were very helpful. Also liked the ramen served at night and the onsen.

Initially, I thought that it was great that everyone entering the hotel had to remove their shoes. But after I saw people rolling their suitcases on the floor, the floor is not as clean as initially thought. It would be better if they had a cart, with clean wheels, that is used exclusively on areas where people don't have shoes on. If the suitcases were placed on this cart and taken to the person's room, the floor would be cleaner.

Although we weren’t crazy about having to put our shoes in a locker every time we entered the hotel, the fact that the floors throughout the hotel completely tatami was a novel touch, and there were nice little Japanese design features in the rooms and the hallways (see pictures). The range of food for the breakfast was wide and fresh (you can watch them making the tempura)

A view from our room would have been nice, but we forgot to request one. Whether rooms on upper floors have nice views or not, I don’t know.

- amazing rooftop onsen (from the women’s bath little window you can see the castle!) - with free ice cream afterwards - big rooms, with comfortable beds and cute decorations to give a traditional feeling (even the ceiling had 2 different types of wood paneling. Mine had a view of the canal. Higher ones could have a castle or lake view. - amazing breakfast buffet, with a lot of local specialties (Izumo soba, zenzai…) - within walking distance of the castle and historical houses.

Nothing, it was perfect

Clean hotel with traditional feel to it (tatami mats, samues). Very friendly staff (bit tricky with English but they had some translation app on little handheld devices). Lovely large onsen on the rooftop with views over matsue and lake shinji. Lovely large breakfast buffet. Absolutely loved the free massage chairs.

Would be nice to have cereal as an option at breakfast and a slightly larger selection of spreads for the western style breakfast (i.e. honey or different jams). The congestion status for the onsen did not work and one of the days it was super full in the onsen.

The onsen was very good although a loud TV in the Finnish sauna felt awkward. The restaurants in the neighbourhood are grrr eat value for money and are truly authentic Japanse.

Clear instructions for people who are not familiar with the onsen etiquette (and I am not referring to the standard rules like take shower and be silent). But things like put the small towel on top of your head. These things are new and further guidance would be welcomed.

This was the most amazing hotel we stayed in on our whole trip - it was the perfect balance of modern and traditional and every detail was just beautiful. The whole hotel is shoe-free tatami mats - all 11 floors and all rooms. Each wall is a different stunning rice paper, the windows have sliding rice paper screens. There are flowers everywhere and the hot springs onsen baths on the roof are just heavenly. Breakfast was incredible with so many tasty delights we ate several courses every morning. The showers are just wonderful and the room last spacious and comfortable. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and the whole stay was just perfect. Try the free refreshing melon popsicle after your onsen experience- so divine…. We will look forward to coming again!

Our only concern was the firm pillows, but we slept well none-the-less (especially after a hot onsen bath!)

Wonderful, spacious, clean, and comfortable hotel room. I was lucky enough to upgrade to a King room at check-in, and it was perfect. The hotel is within easy walking distance to city sights and the main train station with lots of good restaurants nearby. The evening ramen was great and there were hot drinks available as well. A few convenience stores are close by too. You leave your shoes in lockers near reception as the hotel has tatami floors. It was very cold in Matsue when I was there (lots of snow) but the room was nice and warm.

Excellent food service and overall amenities. The onsen bath was great! I enjoy strong shower dead spray and this was perfect. Nice views from the outdoor bath, and the extra touch of free ice cream after the bath was very enjoyable. The staff at the front desk were very capable and helpful with English explanations as well!

The shower hoses in the bath need to be wiped as there is a build of mold or (manganese bacteria)?
