The room with private onsen for family of 3 is luxurious! My daughter was amazed with the line up greeting by staff as we were the first few who arrived. Enjoying the breathtaking view of Lake Biwa while soaking in the private onsen in the room is such an unique experience. Two about queen size bed fit family of 3. The happy hour with free flow of juice and red/white wine is so relaxing. The quality of beef for dinner is top tier as the fats literally melt in the mouth. Though slightly pricey but worth paying for the experience. You can't miss the big sign board with a cell phone at the metro station to call the hotel shuttle bus. An option for public onsen or feet & hand soaking after dinner. The night passed away fast! Will definitely visit again 😃

Pillow too soft.

I reserved 3 Japanese-Style Deluxe Rooms with Open-Air Baths along with the dinner and breakfast. The rooms were all nice sizes and the futons were comfortable. The dinner was definitely a unique experience and is something you should do at least once. The breakfast had a great selection and was very good.

What we didn't like was how small the open air bath was in the room. Based on the photos it looked like it could have accommodated 2 to 3 people but only 2 fit at most (it depends on the size of person). The only other issue was not having a large enough yukata available that would fit one of my kids.

* The room is quite good and one can see the lake from the hall. * Breakfast had quite a lot of seafood and the grilled seafood was especially tasty & generous. * Friendly staff. * Good onsen with coconut water to drink after. There was sauna as well. * Shuttle pick up and drop off were very useful & convenient, I was able to make the call from the train station upon my arrival (useful since I didn't have Japanese phone number).

* Dinner was decent, not as tasty as expected. There weren't any outstanding dishes except one of the appetizers. * Quite limited places to visit around the area. * Ventilation in the restaurant was indeed, not very good. I recommend taking shower after eating, else your hair would stink.

This spa was AMAZING! The staff are truly exceptional. I booked this place as our 'treat yourselves' part of our Japan trip for a night for my wife and I....and I accidentally booked the wrong night?! I was completely horrified as we had to travel the next day and had other reservations already booked. The staff were able to switch my reservation over to the day earlier and give me the same room for no charge!! It literally saved the vacation and this place ended up being the highlight of the entire trip! Everything is very clean and laid out for you, truly you don't even need to unpack your suitcase. The rooms are nice and the view is amazing. The public onsen was great and the private balcony onsen is an absolute must for a romantic evening/anniversary. The dinner was very fancy (very traditional food) and fun to try so many interesting dishes. Breakfast had a wide spread of anything you could want to fuel up for the day. My wife and I still talk about this experience often and how it was the thing we loved most on our 2 week trip through Japan. I highly recommend! :)

Zero complaints, everything was perfect.

Enjoyed Japanese breakfast very much - different selections for breakfast and loved the miso soup, very tasty with boldness to the soup. The dining and hotel staffs were very gracious, helpful, and hospitable. Also, I enjoyed the public bath experience in addition to our private bath in our room. The Lake Biwa walk was very beautiful (stayed during autumn). The town of Otsu is very quaint - for those that enjoy small towns. FYI - we did not get a chance to explore the town, based on my readings, Otsu does seem to have "numerous historical sites, temples, shrines, and other buildings". We arrived from Osaka via Tokyo and Kyoto, so this quiet town was what was needed. I would recommend Biwako Ryokusuitei, good place to decompress and reflect.... I will explore the town of Otsu next time I am there ☺️cheers!

honestly no complaints - we stayed only for 3 days - 2 nights, but only with this limited time frame, our overall stay was a pleasant .

Literally everything Best hot spring hotel we stayed at by far, staffs welcome us to the parking space and guide us to the room, happy hour in the lobby is very chill and relaxing, in room hot spring has amazing view. Dinner was amazing, we did not expect this level of food and cooking at the price point we paid. The public hot spring is also beautiful inside out. Very short walk to Lawson nearby, it was a perfect vacation for us.

Poor air circulation system in the dinning room, when they offer grill fish for breakfast the whole dinning room was filled with smoke. Can be hard to get to by public transit.

For the price, you cannot beat this hotel. It is a more traditional style Japanese hotel with a hot spring on site. Breakfast and a multicourse dinner were included in our stay. The bedroom we booked had a private hot spring and the room itself was very good. It is not a traditional hotel room, they will transition the room into the sleeping area while you are at dinner but that added to the charm. Those against sleeping on the floor on a futon (sounds odd, still comfortable) should be aware that that is part of your stay. Some of the areas of the hotel showed some slight wear, but overall for the price the service was excellent, the food traditional Japanese and generous courses, and the rooms were comfortably traditional. They offered a shuttle bus from the train station which was an added bonus!

Our arrival seemed rushed. We had originally asked to arrive at 2pm before check in and were told we could stay in the lobby until 3pm. With that in mind we booked a slightly later train to arrive closer to 3pm. I’m not sure if we needed to update them on our timing or if they needed specific arrival times but when we arrived our greeting seemed rushed as they hustled us to our room. Not sure if we missed instructions or if it is normally like that.

Top tier experience hidden just outside of Kyoto. Only wish we planned more time to enjoy the facilities (definitely check in as early as you can for the full experience if only staying one night)! The full complement staff greeting, snack on arrival, and happy hour drinks settled us in immediately even with their limited English and our bumbling Japanese. The public high ph onsen and accompanying Nordic style sauna were more than we expected. Our stay was then topped off with 2 amazing meals (don't skip the dinner and breakfast options!), a 15+ item dinner where every item was a surprisingly intricate experience (even the kids meal we purchased for the 10year old as enough food to stuff a grown man), and an equally well thought out breakfast buffet I wished I had the tonnage with which to sample everything!

Minor water stains on one wall of our room

An excellent ryokan with great food, clean rooms, and nice public baths. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. The staff were extremely polite and helpful during and after stay as well. There is also a free shuttle bus for guests who are checking in and checking out that heads to Ogotoonsen station. I would like to compliment Mr Toshi Kondo (Reservations) for his excellent service as my family left a phone charger head and wire in the room after checking out. He was able to help mail the charger out to a hotel in Kyoto where a friend who was visiting would help collect it and bring it back for us.
