Jimmy was very accommodating and helpful even before and throughout the trip, offering advice and even rides to the ski slopes and Furano city wherever possible. The place is well organized, kept warm during the winter season and clean. Water and hot coffee is provided free at the hall area. Jimmy cares to check your schedule and offer to send and pick you up from the ski resort or town area if there is no other conflicting schedule. His wife is an exceptional cook and we highly recommend having breakfast and dinner at the Pension - it is affordable and full of warmth. The serving is better than many restaurants food. A must try if your trip schedule fits the timing. We had a great stay here and will come back again.

This place is very cute and cozy, everything is very nicely organized and clean. But I must point out how nice the hosts are! Jimmy was very helpful, friendly and welcoming, he gave us some good tips a well. His lovely wife was baking bread every morning for breakfast. We are very happy with Pension Ashitaya.

The only downside is the location, it’s a bit remote, but there is a free shuttle. In addition, I was not feeling fit enough to ride but Jimmy even offered to drive me to the city.

- Breakfast available for 1k JPY / pax. - Traditional japanese environment. - It's like a single family home, with no attached houses nearby. - It's very quiet at night. - I was surprised by the bathroom size. It's decorated similar to the public bath in Japan, except it's actually private.

- The curfew is strict, I hope there's more room for adjustment and negotiation, especially for late check ins. - Bathing is not available once the curfew starts. - Hard to access without car.

The room was generous in size. The hosts Jimmy and Riko were warm and engaging. The meals at the Pension were delicious and very welled priced. The room was warm - we stayed in winter. It was a straight forward drive of 10 minutes to get to the ski area. Great views across the valley overlooking the vineyard and winery.

Don't even THINK about staying anywhere else if you visit Furano. We have been traveling for 9 weeks in Japan and this was our favorite. There are simply not enough words to describe the help, kindness, fun, laughter, and great time we had during our two stays there. The food was outstanding, Jimmy's English is very good, the beds are great, rooms are large and clean, and the advice and help he gave us exceeded anything we have received in Japan so far. So, thanks again Jimmy and we would love to come back and see you again!!!

We loved everything

Pension Ashitaya is an excellent place to stay as a base for skiing/snowboarding in Furano. The owner Jimmy-san is a kind man who graciously provided transport to and from the slopes and a restaurant every day. Outstanding value with the tatami and shared bathroom/ bath onsen. Truly exceeded expectations. Humble Japanese hospitality at its finest.

The owners are very friendly and really go out of their way to ensure their guests have a pleasant stay. The rooms and layout are very comfortable, and the meals the owners prepare are delicious. This was a perfect place to stay for our ski trip.

Absolutely wonderful hospitality in all regards in the very comfortable and clean pension that Jimmy and Noriko San have put a lot of thought into. We loved the prepared dinner and breakfast made with local ingredients and the fantastic bath. We had everything we needed and more, and could not ask for anything else! A very homely stay away from home, all thanks to hosts who go above and beyond. Highly recommend, and will definitely be back!

I really like this place. The owner is so nice and helpful. My mom got the injured and the owner helped us to call and took us to the hospital, also be a translator. The room is very clean and spacious. Breakfast is also great. I love this place and will be come back again.

Rooms were large and beds were comfortable. The shared bathroom facilities were well maintained. Enjoyed the warm hospitality of Jimmy and his wife. Jimmy speaks wonderful English and was most helpful.
