The vibe is amazing. Quiet but lively. Well equipped kitchen for those travel on a budget.

The parking is a mess. The free parking is basically a public parking lot that's 3 blocks away(imaging walking in -15 degree Celsius with ski equipment. As for paid designated private spots you paid for, they don't actually have control over who's going to park. On the day I arrived, I paid at full for my 8 days stay and assigned spot 5. The second day when I came back from skiing. My spot was occupied by others. I want to the reception. And they assigned a random space in the parking lot where it wasn't supposed to park. The third day, same thing happened. The random space is also occupied. My suggestion is just go and park in their private parking lot. It doesn't matter if you pay for the parking or not

I had the best time in Furano! This hostel is super modern, organised with lots of signs/info in various languages everywhere, common spaces and fantastic wooden beds. They have a café/restaurant and their breakfast (made with local products) was great. They shared the ground floor with a coffee shop (again, local products, delicious coffee) and the tourist info centre (super helpful!). The staff was really friendly and made me really wanna come back in winter to ski. Furano is small so every place is probably convenient, still, just mentioning it's a few minutes from the station and there's a bus stop for the line going to Sapporo literally in front of the main entrance.

Clean dorm room with good lighting and pretty comfortable mattresses. The bathrooms were very spacious and the cafe/common area downstairs was very large. The staff was sooo helpful in helping us communicate in Japanese over the phone with the other hotels we were staying at to confirm bookings and shipping our skis. The kitchen was decently large and had lots of amenities.

They don't offer to arrange ski shipping at the hotel and let you pay in cash like they do at other places we've stayed. So you have to go drop them off in person at the Yamato office, which is pretty inconvenient when you don't have a car. The shuttle to the slopes picks up right in front of the hostel, but it only comes every 2-2.5 hours which is highly inconvenient if you happen to miss the early one and you get stuck waiting until mid-day.

SUPER close to the train station, which is great if you're in Furano to see the flower fields or go tripping around. Also, lots of nice izakaya around. I also liked that there was space beneath the beds to store your larger pieces of luggage. The kitchen was also great.

Very very quiet. I think most places in Japan tend to encourage quiet around their premises. I just found that a bit hard with so many people in one room. Plus the common space near the beds also had enforced quiet hours. The place to be was definitely the kitchen area. You have to go more out of your way to be social there, not super great if you're traveling solo looking to make connections.

Staff were extremely nice, knowledgeable, and careful about making sure I understood the area when I asked unusual questions. The location was great, being close to the station (and a bus stop right outside), with shops and restaurants everywhere, and well-lit even at night.

I can see how the thin walls could make a busier season unbearable, but I visited during the low tourist season, so it was almost scarily quiet.

The staff was really nice, location is perfectly accessible from Furano station and it was really clean. Since it's a Hostel it has a big kitchen and it was really clean too. You can also rent bikes.

It has really thin walls and the potential to get noisy. You can hear people talking in the neighbour room, so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. But they make it with signs everywhere really clear that you have to be quiet. I'm not sure if it's a minus, but you can't regulate the heat in the room by yourself. You have to ask at the front desk to make your room warmer or colder, just so you know.

Friendly check-in Comfortable capsule like bunk beds with curtain. Temperature was ok for me, but could be slightly hot for some and maybe in top bunks. Air circulation is probably all that is needed as it's cool in communal areas. Awesome clean showers - never busy Lockers for valuables Ski bus outside door (although first bus only goes to Kitanomine side) Easy walk to anywhere in town. It wasn't too noisy for me, but luckily no snorers until the last night. Tap water tastes good I would stay here again.

Not something that can be changed now, but I little more storage space at the end of the bed would be good. Maybe some small shelves and more hooks inside. Could have had a separate drying room for wetter ski gear, but it worked and boots were fine in the morning. Refrigerator was too small and jam packed so probably didn't even work properly. Dining area a bit busy sometimes, but fine most of the time.

Very clean bathrooms, showers, kitchen and lounge areas. Privacy curtain and hooks, outlets and light in the bed area. Fresh linens. Super convenient location for transiting into town and up to ski hill.

Dorm rooms were also clean but sweaty clothes and feet from a room of skiers made for a rather pungent smell. Only downside we can think of is that we had to make our own beds and mattresses could’ve been slightly thicker

The location of Hostel Tomar is near the JR Furano Station and there are many nice restaurants within a 5-15min walking distance. The staff were very helpful and friendly. They provided many great recommendations on places to visit and eat. Hostel Tomar also has many facilities including a big shared kitchen and a rooftop bar that opens in the summer. You could also rent bicycles to explore the area at an affordable price. Overall, the hostel is clean and the staff goes above and beyond to ensure that the guests' stay is comfortable

For a hostel this place is amazing. Super clean throughout - pretty much a private bath with the room (even though its shared). Breakfast (japanese) was great - simple - beautiful - considered - great value - served with care - couldnt fault it. Staff were excellent- super friendly- super helpful. Great location - right next to loads eating out options - bus stop out the front - i would 100% go again.
