The host was so kind and welcoming. She met us on arrival, always put shoes out ready in the morning, continually tidied the communal areas, emptied bins, washed up mugs, and made sure we were okay. The room was comfortable with a fridge, fan, air-conditioning, seating area, tissues and plenty of sockets. Although we were hesitant about the shared bathroom, I never had to wait yo use it, there were toiletries provided and it was clean and tidy. Considering there are quite a few rooms sharing the one bathroom I was pleasantly surprised. There are 2 toilets and again, one was always available. When we left, our host came out to see us off and waved us goodbye. No, it's not a top quality hotel but in many ways is much better, as it's an authentic Japanese Ryoken and I couldn't fault the service. All for a reasonable price compared to other nearby places to stay. I'd definitely return.

The air con didn't work as well as it could have, due to the window having to be partially open for the vent, but did a fair job and the fan helped! Just a minor thing though.

Loved our stay at Ryokan Sansui - Yumi San was delightful and very helpful even with the language barrier. The Ryokan was clean and warm. The bath was wonderful after a long day skiing. The beds were warm and comfortable. We met lots of interesting fellow guests and had a great time. It wasn't an issue to have a shared bathroom and toilet - sometimes we had to wait a bit but it was not a problem. We appreciated the hot water for tea and coffee and the microwave for heating up our coop/7-11 meals. It was quiet at night and we very much appreciated having our car cleaned of snow and ice in the morning by Yumi San's husband. Thank you!!

Yume and her husband were the most dedicated and caring Ryokan owners we have met. They cleaned our rooms and brought towels daily, turned on our kerosene heaters in the afternoon, so we’d return to a gloriously warm room after skiing, and greet us with a smile in the evening. They cleared our rental cars of snow on a particularly cold, deep morning and gave us 20% off coupons for our Furano ski resort day. They no longer serve meals, but awoke early to ensure a never ending supply of hot water in the upstairs common room. It was convenient to have 7-11 around the corner, and we easily made our breakfast, including coffee at the Ryokan. Left early for 2 amazing backcountry ski days in the Furano area, & a 3rd at Asahidake, with Whiteroom guide Christopher Ebeling (highly recommend him and Whiteroom), and look forward to returning.

Nothing; Sometimes the kerosene heater had a strong odor as it was warming to ignite.

The lady boss of the ryokan was very welcoming and friendly! Upon arrival, she introduced me to the places that I could visit in Furano. She even helped me to call the Furano Cheese Factory to make reservations for the workshops and drove me there (as I did not rent a car). Every morning and each time I returned back to the ryokan, she never failed to step out of her room to greet me with a warm smile :) On my last day, she offered to drive me to the Furano station after my check out! Her hospitality definitely added positively to my experience in Furano. どうもありがとうございます! While she can't speak English, there was no issue in our communication using translation apps. The ryokan was clean and tidy, plus it included a nice little cosy pantry with basic utensils, a fridge, and condiments. It was non-peak period when I went (May 2025) so the shared toilet/bathroom was not an issue at all. A lovely stay and I would definitely be back if I visit again!

This was the best stay we had in Japan. Small guest house with about 7 rooms and common areas. The rooms were perfect for what we wanted. Loved the communal kitchen area as we chatted to other travelers over breakfast each day. Picked up some great tips to enjoy our journey. Really handy if you have a car as parking is free and plentiful. We didn’t at that stage but the lovely Mamasan dropped us up the hill each morning. She also has 20% discount vouchers on lift pass. Which we thanked the gesture by giving her 500yen. It saved us heaps. Alternatively you can catch bus to the hill. The walk to gondola will take about 20-30mins. Heaps of supermarkets nearby you can stock up on breakfast items etc. Local restaurants are only a short walk and a lot of variety, cheaper and not as likely to be fully booked out each night. When we come back to Furano we will definitely stay here again.

Home stay feeling. The room was large and full of light. The bathroom had a large tub, very pempering for the end of the day. On the room's floor, there is a very well organized corner with free coffee and tea, warm and cold. Refrigerator and microwave. Atention to detail and comfort.

The room was quite hot. The portable air conditioner was a little too small, maybe for the room. I think other rooms were better in this regard. Luckily, the second night was cooler outside, so I just slept with open windows. August is tough nowadays everywhere, even in Hokkaido.

Great location, ~700-800 meters from JR station. Furano town area, so not exactly close to the gondola area but the host literally drives us every morning to the ski rental shop where we rented equipments at and that shop provides us with drop off service to the ski lift every morning and pick us back in the afternoon, so no issue with getting to our skiing everyday. She's a very nice lady who speaks very little English, but nothing Google translate cannot resolve for us. Free drip coffee and matcha, shared bathroom and toilet, but well maintained big supermarket and furano marche 100 meters away

There are quite a bit of dust accumulation on the nooks and crannies of our room, nothing that's super obvious, but if you have allergies, be aware.

This place is in a nice location, close to a lot of restaurants and convenience stores. Perhaps the biggest plus of this place is the lady running it. Does not speak a lot of English but is very kind. She drove me both to the cheese factory and to furano station without me even asking. The room is very comfortable. Even if it gets super cold you're reinforced with multiple layers of blankets and a heat pad (there is a heater in the room as well).

The shower does take a couple minutes for hot water to start flowing. There also is no central heating, so the hotel tends to get quite cold during the evening. Each room is equipped with a space heater.

Very cozy, homey and clean. Loads of little decorations and details in the house, making it cute and convenient to stay. Landlady is so nice and sweet, she’s very helpful and she keeps the house in great order. 2-minute walk to the 7-11, 6-minutes walk to the bus station. Room has everything, fridge, heater, electric blanket, clothes racks. Free tea in the public area and nice onsen in bathroom. Located in the residential area, which is quiet and nice to take a little walk.

Our room was little bit small but it has everything.

The hostess is fantastic - she offers to drive you to the ski rental shop, train or bus station, though you need to be precise on your destination as she speaks little English. The rooms are spacious and include everything you might need. There is a very large hot tub to soak in after skiing. The bed is very large and comes with two heavy blankets and an electric blanket so no need for the gas heater while sleeping.

I wish the heater in the room was electric and not gas. There is a common area table where some people like to linger during late hours when all you need is rest for the next ski day.
