4S was one of our favorite places we stayed. The setup is a traditional ryokan. It felt like an authentic Japanese experience. We were lucky in that we had the bottom floor to ourselves. The train station is less than a five minute walk, also there is grocery store that is also walking distance about 20 minute tops? My child and I enjoyed walking to the grocery store and buying fresh fruit. We discovered the large purple grapes, Kyoho, at the grocery store. Also, there is an elder gentleman outside the grocery store cooking fresh chicken on a skewer, oh my! Delicious! This was a quaint little town with stunning green mountains...I lost myself in thought just now, remembering.

There wasn't anything I did not like. I liked 4S Hostel and town, everything conveniently located.

We stayed here for three nights, and it was amazing. We also had dinner at the Heso Salon twice, which is part of 4S Stay. The staff was incredibly friendly, and we felt very welcome. The food was great, and we really enjoyed the beers and sake. Thank you so much for everything! Dankjewel! The station is only a one-minute walk away, which is very convenient.

If you're not used to sleeping on a futon, it might take some time to adjust. However, for us personally, it wasn't much of a problem.

The accommodation is just 2min on foot from Awaikeda Station. Room and facilities have been very clean. The Japanese style room was very spacious and comfortable. In the front / basement is a restaurant where you can have dinner. The restaurant serves mainly regional game. It's delicious. The accommodation can prepare a sandwich for breakfast which one picks up from the fridge in the morning. However, given the price, breakfast from a convenience store may be a good alternative.

Everything was fine.

Staff was very helpful and responsive. Dedicated parking spot is just about 100m away. Its free. We stayed at ground floor room so access to shower and toilets was easy. Other shared rooms are upstairs. We also dined once in the cafe, it was good. They have good sake too.

The duvet was a bit short in length, so either your feet are exposed while sleeping or you have to curl in. Mattress is OKish, not for light sleepers. Only one electric point available in room.

The staff is very friendly and the food in the restaurant was very good (my wife loved the gibier don so much, she wanted to eat it almost every day!

We stayed in the only room on the first floor and the ceiling was not very sound-proof. Especially in the mornings we could hear people in the room above us walking up and down, which was very loud and woke us.

We had the 2F corner room with a view. Futon was great to sleep on and shared bathroom was fine. The restaurant was excellent and we enjoyed venison, garlic mushrooms and steamed clams both nights. Friendly staff. Recommend Brompton bike tour to see the area. Top stay. The inn provided free bikes for touring the town👍

It seems a thing in Japan to have heated over mechanised toilets.

This is a mixture of a traditional ryokan and a modern hotel, but better. Located in the middle of the island or the fork of the road for most traveling to other places, the hotel is perfect for passerby's not just because is next to the JR Awa-Ikeda Station, but because it also has a restaurant on the first floor and a good one at that! The staff and the managers of the inn and the restaurants are beyond professional and very fun. We arrived a bit late in the day but they waited for us and were so accommodating when we were desperate for dinner that despite one of our travelers being a vegan and one a pescatarian, they made one of the most amazing curry meals with only vegetables for them. The food options were amazing and they even sell souvenirs that come from the local area. The check-in process was super easy and the check-out even easier. We just had to leave everything in order, though I missed saying goodbye to the staff at the restaurant since we left before they opened for service. We had the best dinner there in the four days we stayed. The location of the place is in the center of town, near the Tobacco Museum, which we didn't get a chance to go because we had other tours in the area and our schedules were packed. There are tons of shops and good food, also a public bath house within walking distance. We went shopping in the area and were surprised to find so many local items being sold just around the corner from the place. Everyone in town is super friendly and amazing and the food was very good. The tatami mats appear to be brand new, very firm and super comfortable for sleeping. Our room was spacious and very beautiful, even the chandelier was very authentically Japanese in design. The bathrooms and showers were shared but they were immaculate. They even had a shower and changing room for women only, which helped a lot. Everything was very clean and the entire place just like the entire town smelled like Japanese cedar wood.

The only thing I missed was having a place to hang the bath towels to dry. I wish we had a pole or a retractable clothline so we can spread them out since we used them for several days.

We very much enjoyed our stay. The host and staff were very friendly and helpful. This was the only accommodation we stayed at during our 16 day trip to Japan that had futons to sleep on, we were surprised at how conformable they were. Food in the Bistro was typical Japanese soul food, it was very tasty and very reasonably priced. The proximity of this property to the Awa-Ikeda train station was fantastic less than a minutes walk. We used this location as a base for two excellent day trips, A 5hr guided bus tour of the beautiful Iya Valley & Oboke Gorge which departed directly from the Awa-Ikeda train station. A trip to Kochi visiting the Castle, the amazing Sunday Market & the Hirome Food Market all of which highly recommended.

We had a very spacious room and the location is great, just outside the local train station.

On our first night we heard loud guests arriving at 1.00 am, probably drunk guests coming back from a party. You can hear people walking in the corridors easily, however there were earplugs as amenities in the room, so we used the earplugs and could sleep.

This was one of my favourite accommodations during my trip to Japan. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, and big bonus that they even have their own bistro/restaurant within the guest house. We ate there twice (once lunch, once dinner) out of convenience, and because after 6pm not a lot of restaurants are open in Miyoshi. The menu was extensive and featured a lot of gibier / game dishes which this area is famous for (we enjoyed deer and wild boar). The prices are also quite fair and the portions large. The room was very comfortable (tatami room), and it's a less than 5min walk from the train station, from where you can easily travel down towards Iya Valley / Kochi, and back towards Okayama to catch a Shinkansen.
