The Drexel House was a private and calming escape after our safari. Property is lush and very well cared for. Staff are thoughtful and charming as well as skilled. Food was made with love and very tasty. (The butternut soup was among my favorite dishes of our entire trip across Kenya!) We even saw some incredible birds we had not encountered on safari while sitting outside during our stay. Location is very close to the Elephant Orphanage and Giraffe Center as well as good food options.

Walls between rooms are thin and when someone was in an adjacent room - you could hear everything. Routine of burning debris created a lot of smoke that impacted enjoying time in the gardens / by the pool.

After a day in the buzzing city of Nairobi, Drexel House is like stepping into a peaceful oasis. The moment we arrived, we felt the tranquility wash over us, birds singing, a gentle breeze rustling the leaves, and the chaos of the city fading into the background. I was traveling with my 6-year-old son, and he summed it up best: “The boss is nice, the girls too. The fruit juice was yummy. Good food. Sleeping in bed was fun. Waking up was fun too. I like the house and also inside. Tasty ice cream. We could chill. I swam from one side to the other.” Honestly, I couldn’t have put it better myself! The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, especially to my son. It’s rare to find a place that feels so genuine, where hospitality isn’t just a job but a natural way of being. The house itself is stylish, comfortable, and just a short drive from Nairobi. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat while exploring the city, this is the perfect spot. Highly recommended!

Our stay at Drexel House was superb. My mother and I stayed there for two nights after our safari at Masai Mara and all I can say is that it was a fantastic experience. The House is beauthifull!! The rooms, the garden all the common areas... Everything is lovely. If you are looking for a different place to relax, to connect with nature and to enjoy a pleasent conversation with the staff, this is your place. We specially appreciated having breakfast or in the garden, the swimming pool area, enjoyed the different lounges and relaxed in our nice room. We also enjoyed fantastic dinners in the place. Regarding location, it is very convinient to visit all the ammenities in Karen District: The Gireafe Centre, Karen Blixen Museum, Shopping centers or aricrafts shops, the Nairobi National Park... They can arrange you transport in the reception. All the staff is really lovely. They are very friendly people that make you feel like at home. In conclussion, if you would like to enjoy a boutique hotel away from the bussy city center, this is a place to go. I will always remember it as a wonderful experience. It is one of the best hotels where I have ever stayed.

Drexel House was very welcoming and its location in Karen is great - an oasis of calm in a busy city. As soon as you enter the gates, the noise of the city seems far away, and you feel relaxed and peaceful. The gardens are wonderful and we enjoyed sitting outside for breakfast. The breakfast options were great, and the team was very helpful in preparing snacks for us when we arrived late at night. Jeremy is super helpful, proactive and friendly, and made our stay very comfortable. We left a personal item behind in our room, and he was very solicitous in helping us retrieve it. We will definitely come back when we are next in Nairobi.

Beautiful location with friendly attentive staff. Very clean pool, gorgeous indoor and outdoor places to chill in.

We have spent the most unforgettable days at the Drexel House! The location is perfect! There is a beautiful garden at the house where you can enjoy breakfast with a beautiful view! The design of the house is so adorable! There are a lot of vintage details inside. There is a fireplace inside where you can have dinner. We have stayed both in the room and in the villa. We liked both so much! Villa will be great for the family, it’s big and has several rooms. The owner of the House Dan is very friendly and helpful,as all his stuff! We liked every day of being there,sometimes we didn’t go anywhere ,just wanted to stay there and to enjoy the atmosphere of this unique place! We are sure that we will come back there one day! Cozy,comfortable and welcoming place! Thank you for the perfect stay!

Drexel House is one of the nicest, most comfortable hotels I have ever stayed at! The property is gorgeous. The staff is amazing-so eager to please. Dan, the owner, is so friendly and pleasant that he made us feel completely at home. Diana is wonderful, as were Victor, Noreen and Betty. Breakfasts were delicious. I would not think twice about staying there again, or recommending it to anyone looking for a place to stay near Nairobi.

A guest in a friend’s home, that’s the feeling one gets when staying here. Every staff member greets you by name and are helpful and welcoming. The rooms, garden, and common areas are comfortable and kept spotless. Enjoyed having tea with Dan and learning about the history of this house and his visions for the future. He has thought through each detail to make your stay comfortable. I started my trip here at Drexel House left for other travels around Kenya and they happily stored a bag. Upon my return I felt like I was coming back to my Kenyan home. Dan even had a garden BBQ for myself and our group returning from a Nyumbo celebration. It was beautifully executed and delicious. It made for a very special last night in Kenya for everyone there. My flight out was late night and since my room wasn’t booked for that day they allowed me to keep the room enjoy Nairobi and then shower and freshen up before heading off to the airport that night. From start to finish Drexel house made my stays in Nairobi comfortable

Dan, the owner, and his team could not have been more warm and welcoming. We arrived very late at night and were treated like royalty…shown to our suite, a portable heater provided and fresh water. The next morning, breakfast was served a bit later for us and we chatted with Dan over ‘dawa’ and pancakes. Later, a private tour of the gorgeous property, gardens, pool area, reading rooms, kitchen and cottages. Our housekeeping staff was so lovely and our laundry was crisp and fresh. The property is a bit removed from Nairobi, set amongst a beautyful forest and so wonderfully quiet yet alive with colors from the garden and smiles from the staff. We loved our few days at The Drexel House and will recommend to friends and we hope to visit again!!

The one area of improvement would be the showers for pressure and temperature, but it IS the bush after all!!

I liked that they included breakfast The location is great if you are doing things in that area Check in was friendly, although cumbersome The grounds were beautiful They were very helpful when our washer in our unit was broken. They helped us get our dripping clothing out and washed everything for us, which was very helpful.

The one issue we had was at breakfast. We were all served at different times and although they had taken our order the night before, and confirmed it in the morning, they still got it wrong. I arrived at breakfast at 8:30am and asked four times for my breakfast. I was finally served at 10am after finally walking TO the kitchen and telling them that everyone BUT me had been served, I had asked multiple times, and was the first one in the dining room, but the last served. Thankfully another member of our party allowed me to share their coffee or I would have really been upset.
