It is like a small house 2 floors. Fully equipped with kitchen and laundry facilities. I took the 2 rooms one.

Car parking will be chargeable if you didn’t book directly through the hotel. Doing the booking through booking or other you will be charged

Check in staff were wonderful. Rooms & grounds are amazing. Felt very secure.

It would have been great to have some milk or basic breakfast items included as there are not easily accessible grocery stores nearby. Even if there was an option to add on a breakfast hamper. Lots of landscapers working on the grounds all day throughout the week, which detracted from the privacy and atmosphere.

We loved being greeted (by name) by Douglas before we even entered the gate. His help in checking us in and orienting us at the property exceeded our expectations. We stayed in the Marlene suite...amazing. Loved the decor- the furniture, the floors, the art, the stained glass bits in the old style windows, and especially the small black and white tiles in the 1 1/2 bathrooms. Douglas told us how to walk to the nearby grocery store where we stocked up on supplies for the next morning's breakfast that we made in the kitchen. We brought some flowers with us but guess what? There were some already in the room. We then Uber'd to a sushi place, then returned for a relaxing (very peaceful) evening back at the Charlie. Never heard a single peep from another "neighbor" at the Charlie or from the surrounding neighborhood, even though it was the last day of a festival. The room was gorgeous, like staying in a well-kept home from the twenties, which it is (if I have my Charlie history right)! Beautiful grounds, too. Green bushes, flowers, gravel, fountains making their tinkling sounds...Staying at the Charlie is a beautiful respite in a very large city.

Just that the parking spots are small and it is a little hard to maneuver to turn around to drive out of their gated parking area. But a landscaper/maintenance man saw us leaving and came over to eyeball the situation and tell us "we had it".

We were upgraded to a lovely suite with two bathrooms and to outdoor decks. It was beautifully decorated, good beds, great towel. Really top notch, charming and large. A little kitchen to make breakfast. The area is quite nice, although I’m not a fan of LA and Hollywood is full of homeless people and full of empty expensive stores. Drab is the word that comes to mind.

We read all the great reviews before coming and still, this place managed to exceed all our expectations. It truly is West Hollywood's hidden gem, in a great location, with a lot of lovely character. The place is incredibly quiet and peaceful, the beds are unbelievably comfortable. The studio is squeaky clean and we loved that the communication about housekeeping was seamless and always convenient. The kitchenette is superbly well-equipped which made us very happy and we enjoyed home-cooked breakfasts every morning. The bathroom was spacious and the shower very modern. The parking is also very convenient. While we felt like it's a little bit on the pricier side, you really are getting an amazing experience and comfort for your money and we'd take The Charlie over any traditional LA hotel any time. We hope to come back one day.

We absolutely love everything about this place.

Great location, comfortable spacious and charming bungalow and overall grounds, onsite parking. The king bed was incredibly comfortable. Staff was attentive and resolved a couple of minor issues immediately.

Just that it’s expensive. Would love to go back but probably won’t anytime soon because of cost. Unfortunately I booked through Booking.com instead of directly through them so had to pay for parking. But given the location, size of bungalow, full kitchen, in-room laundry, the cost is not unreasonable.

a beautiful transformative place

I liked that it was the whole floor of a bungalow with a terrace. I liked that the interior was old school classic with built-in cabinets and plaster walls. I liked that every morning I got a text checking in to see if I needed housekeeping, and I could respond with a specific request. I liked the washer/dryer. I liked the many windows and sunlight.

I couldn't figure out how to raise the temperature. I could push the button on the thermostat to a higher number, but it was always cold in the room... so I used the giant spare blanket when I sat on the couch.

Amazing oasis in the middle of West Hollywood. Super premium area. Secluded. Like living in a bygone life in the middle of beautiful landscaped gardens. Wooden houses. Our 2 bedroom suite actually was a duplex on 1st and 2nd floor, drawing/dining/kitchen on 1st and beds/baths on 2nd. Our bed rooms had private sitouts, big balconies and even a large private sundeck with sundeck chairs. All around was still secluded and plants. Amazing. One of our best and coziest stays ever, and we have travelled the world.  This was a treat to my son for his graduation, and boy did he love it. On being asked if he wanted to stay here by his sister, he had replied: Oh dear sister of mine, as I have doth mentioned before, I have fallen in trance after gazing upon the Charlie Chaplin hotel. If thou would be so kind to accept it as the chosen hotel, this humble servant of yours will be very blessed. On talking to the front office lady, she said that they wanted to keep it niche.

The price was oh.......... My........ God.......  We would have liked it cheaper. But we knew that. Perhaps not again, but amazing. But to find a fault: A minor glitch in the payments, was sorted out by the nice lady at the reception by the next day, and the extras refunded. Satisfied.
