We had a fantastic stay at the Sabah hotel! The pillows are SO comfy and the best we’ve had in a while of travelling. The room is sizeable and clean. The hotel breakfast was a nice addition although could be a bit cold and it’s a real mix of western and local dishes. We used the gym as well which was well equipped. We stayed during Ramadan and the hotel did a big Iftar buffet in the evenings which was great to experience. Lovely staff and close to town - we would highly recommend staying here if visiting Sandakan.

We had quite a few mozzies in the shower but probably to be expected being so close to the jungle!

Our rooom, which was a basic booking was large and comfortable. The bathroom was a good size too with a great shower. Yes there's still carpets around but it all looked clean and in good condition. I read somewhere it was a bit tired, that’s harsh. It’s no swanky top class city joint but represents excellent value for money in this area. The pool area is very good too. Food. I thought breakfast was great. Limited fruit but all fresh and the egg station was 1st class- swanky hotel standard. The evening meals were ok. Didn’t try the Chinese.

People come to Sandakan for specific reasons eg the animals do it’s a great base for that. Otherwise the town/city has little to offer.

The freeform pool with waterfall is a distinctive feature of this property. The pool has a deep end and also a very shallow safe end for little children to splash in. There is even a short waterslide into the pool. Both children and adults can slide down and plunge into the pool. Very fun! The waterfall is a great pummel onto tired shoulders. My swimming experience became adrenaline charged when the resident Water Monitor Lizard decided to take a plunge alongside me. I have never seen my husband move so quickly to get out of a pool!! I enjoyed watching this exotic creature swim around with me until it decided the pool should be exclusively theirs and I repeated my husband's hasty exit from the pool! Very exciting and delightful memory made!! Our rooms were large and well appointed. They were a comfortable place to relax and the beds too were comfortable. Wifi was good. Breakfast provided fruits, cereal, Asian options, bread/toast/muffins/croissant and an egg station. Plenty of coffee machines to ensure no waiting to get your latte or cappuchino. My children enjoyed the hot chocolate option. I liked being able to dine outside by the pool (under the fan of course) and watching the antics of the resident Water Monitor Lizard. This is a good family location. Staff are attentive.

There are not a lot of high end options in Sandakan and this is probably the best choice on offer. A good addition to the room could be a folder of suggestions of local places to dine, attractions to visit, etc.

The room was comfortable with good air conditioning. Whilst we had ordered an extra bed for the little one, this didn't come, but the 2 single beds were large enough to fit 3 of us. Breakfast had a nice selection of local and western foods, and ample space to seat people either indoors or outdoors. The pool was quite large with a shallow and deeper end, so was good for proper swimming or just playing in the water.

It would have been good to have somewhere to hang wet swimwear after swimming. Some hotels have a retractable clothes line over the bath rub where you can leave your swimwear to dry. Instead, I hung our swimwear on the bath taps. There was a slight smell of mould coming from the air conditioning system, which could also be smelt in the corridors too.

Our room had a comfortable bed and three chairs. We love chairs in a hotel room. We enjoy sitting in chairs and not on the bed. There is space for luggage. Nice bathroom with separate shower and tub. The room was clean. We loved looking out on the pool… beautiful view. The restaurants were all very good. We enjoyed each one. Good food. Great staff! Pool staff were helpful and friendly. All the staff from concierge to front desk were wonderful. The housekeeping staff was great. We had a wonderful stay. Thank you.

Location. When we booked this hotel we discussed the location not being in the city. But taxis were plentiful. This is really not an issue.

A lovely welcoming hotel which caters for families. We found it so comfortable, relaxing around the pool while kids enjoyed a swim and play; super helpful staff who responded to any enquiries quickly and always happy to help. The little cocktail bar at the pool was a bonus. The hotel provided a great base to travel to the attractions and also a short ride from the airport. I highly recommend this hotel. Breakfast was good enough, omelettes were my favourite. The concierge arranged us a driver to take us out for the day to visit orang-utan rehabilitation centre, sun bears, probiscus monkeys and rain forest discovery centre. It was a fantastic experience.

This was a quiet property. Everything needed is on the property. It is easy to get a taxi into town. Agnes Keith house is within walking distance. We stayed here before and after going to ‘turtle island’ and also ‘Kinabatangan Wildlife Lodge’. The pool is wonderful. The staff is terrific and welcoming.

The first room was dark, no view, older carpet. But it had a comfortable bed and 3 chairs to sit in around the room. Nice big shower. (This was all we needed as we caught up on sleep). The next time we arrived we asked for a new carpet and a nice view. They gave us everything we asked for. (This was perfect as we relaxed before heading off for more adventures.)

This property exceeded our expectations. We really enjoyed the comfort and relaxation during our 2 night stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. There’s the convenience of an ATM if required. We were able to easily book a Grab to visit local attractions including Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkeys or head into Sandakan for dinner. Our room was comfortable, the pool relaxing, and breakfast delicious. There’s even a pool side bar that opens in the afternoon selling alcohol beverages. Glad we chose to stay here set amount nature, and not noisy, hectic Sandakan town.

The pool, and the relaxed atmosphere around the pool. The room was really spacious and modern compared to the redt of the hotel, it even had a walk in closet! The beds we're nice, so was the shower pressure. The staff is really helpfull and friendly and they make very nice cocktails. At the Plantation restaurant the food is nice, although they don't serve alcohol in this restaurant.

The hotel cannot really advise you about tours. There are no brochures for tours available, although the concierge is happy to assist you by calling a tour agency.

Large clean, well air-conditioned, comfortable room and bathroom. Nice pool. Excellent food for dinner and breakfast in restaurant. We were impacted by the eruption of an Indonesian volcano - the hotel staff were very helpful in resolving issues with our flight out, ensuring in the end that we were able to make our onward connections to return home.

Alcohol is only served in the non-air-conditioned lobby of the hotel, not in the restaurant. I was trying to get access to a computer to resolve flight issues but the hotel's "business centre" had only a decrepit machine that couldn't even launch a browser.
