We had a seaview room which was comfortable with a fab view.. You can definitely hear the waterfront karaoke, no matter which floor you are on, but if you accept that it's going to be heard, it just becomes background noise which finishes at about 11pm. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was very clean with the usual amount of moluld for a tropical climate. We found the staff to be terrific - they moved us on request when cigarette smoke was coming through the airconditioning vent. The hotel is supposed to be smoke free, but obviously all guests do not follow this request. Breakfast was extensive, delicious and in a pleasant waterfront, open restaurant. Excellent location with a mall just outside the door and fresh food market 5 minutes walk away. Plenty of space out the front for Grab/ Tour drivers to do pick ups. Wifi was quick and trouble free.

Rubbish ( mainly plastic) floating in and out on the tide - clearly visible from breakfast room and seaview rooms. Guests who ignored the recommendation to not smoke.

Room is beyond expectation for the price we get, location is strategic, there's mall, shops, restaurants, cafes even fresh market nearby, can have a whole shopping experience, most can be reached by walking from the hotel. breakfast is decent like any other hotels breakfast, but at night there's a live band performance beside the hotel, you can eat while enjoying the sea view

It is very stylish, situated right in the middle of old town next to the mall and near to the see, 5 minutes walking from the heritage trail. The stuff is very sweet and helpful. The room was quite comfortable and had the air conditioning.

It is a little bit old and not everything is already looking pretty. After flushing the toilet, some amounts of water appeared unter the toilet. 😅 We did not understand why the water in show was so cold ( but afterwards we found the switch for the heater, so everything worked, we just did not know, we had to switch it on)

The Elopura is a well run hotel with responsive and helpful staff who have good English skills. We had an issue with the room key activating the power to the room. Staff worked hard to address the problem and, even though it seemed that they'd fixed it, management decided we should move rooms anyway. The whole episode was attended to quickly and efficiently. Our (superior) room was quite small - comfortable but not luxurious. The view from our window, particularly at night, was nice - overlooking the harbourside restaurant and out to sea. The breakfast buffet had a range of choices (lots of carb rich foods!) and we didn't go hungry. Equally the harbourside restaurant had an expansive menu. Most things we needed were within walking distance (bank atm, pharmacy, supermarket, restaurants) and the Harbourside Mall houses lots of shops (including several mobile phones and eyewear shops) and a food-hall up the top for cheap meals. Tourist attractions 'in town' are within walking distance - provided one likes walking up hill and navigating lots of steps.

More than one pillow each would be an improvement. Yoghurt and a larger range of fruit, even berries, at breakfast would be good (particularly for diabetics). Also, a boiling water urn and a selection of tea bags would be nice at the buffet - or better for the likes of me who travel with their own tea-bags! A shelf in the shower (some rooms have this) would be convenient. Our shower hot water faded and hubby, at mid-morning) ended up with an almost cold shower - shower early!

Very clean. There is a small but well maintained gym with beautiful sea view with some basic equipments but sufficient for work out. The room was very clean. Good services rendered by staff from room service to reception to staff at the restaurant. Strategic location surrounded by eateries within walking distance and a mall next to it.

Breakfast choice could be improved. Music and noise from the streets and shops downstairs can sometimes be heard. I was there during the Ramadhan month and there was an event held downstairs at the square that started in the evening all the way to night at around 10.30pm. The speech, music and singing could be heard from my room at the third floor.

This hotel is a must to stay if someone want visit Sandakan. The location is very strategic, in front of the mall & besides the beach. The staff is really helpful and friendly. You can take many outstanding picture here including the beautiful words SANDAKAN. The breakfast cafe is wonderfully decorated with magnificient seaview.At night, you can walk alongside the beach with many restaurants available. A lot of foreigner tourists stay in this hotel. It obviously shows thar this hotel is among well known hotel among the tourists.

-The car parking is quite limited. No definite parking provided by hotel. -The breakfast menu is ordinary. However the taste is delicious. -The most I dislike is the bathroom door which is made by glass. Even worse you cannot lock the door. Your children can open the door at anytime. Not feeling secure at all during taking the bath or using the toilet.

Great location, had a nice sea view from my room. Staff was very friendly. Free water and toiletries, water got refilled daily. Fridge in the room. Nice gym. Breakfast was okay, not many vegan options unfortunately even though they took note on what I could/couldn't eat during check-in. But you get a nice sea view again in their restaurant. I think for Sandakan this is probably the best option.

The bathroom had a bad smell. No hair dryer. It's a bit noisy at night.

Clean and modern enough room with a decent breakfast. Nice location on the waterfront and within walking distance to many restaurants and shops in Sandakan. Friendly staff.

The hotel was clean and modern enough but I think the “movie” theme is a bit confused and half-baked. Not an issue as such, just a bit random. The hotel isn’t expensive as such but is expensive for the area.

The hotel as well as nearby area is managed by the hotel itself. The location is nice, we requested a sea facing room and got it and the view was amazing. The rooms are spacious and you can easily spend enough time in rooms. The hotel is located in the market area and you can find restuarants and eateries at walking distance. Getting a cab was never an issue as hotel is located right opposite a mall. Being a vegetarian, they also accomodated our request for breakfast menu and prepared separate non-meat dishes for us. A great coffee shop called Roastery#1 was also walking distance and they also prepared some veg dishes for us. Overall this hotel experience was great in Sandakan.

All was great

A lovely hotel in the middle of Sandakan. The hotel bed is free of bedbugs (we always check) and the room is super clean. The A/C is good too. The breakfast is quite nice and varied too. We ended up staying here on two occasions. One was in the standard room and another was in the Shah Rukh Khan suite, which was basically the size of two rooms and was super clean. The staff were incredibly nice to us and were super accommodating. I'd also like to give props to the team for having the right signage in their elevators too, for example, when they were doing refurbishments. Some hotels don't even bother to do this and it's a nice touch.

While the location is convenient, there are some issues with sewage smells nearby and you can clearly see that some people have some mental health issues in the square if you stay there long enough. It's quite uncomfortable and worth factoring in. If you're there quickly, it's fine.
