Heaven on earth,we loved it here. Staff were so friendly and helpful. In the jungle , grounds were beautiful and well kept. Flowers beautiful.Accomodation was fantastic (didn't use outside shower!!) Food was beautiful and inexpensive, such good quality. Drinks were great. Pool was lovely for a dip. Close to walk to orangutans and sunbears. Passed a shack selling homemade bananna fritters...husband was chuffed ,paid equivalent of 33p for 9....yes 9 freshly cooked bananna fritters. Easily got taxi's to and from rainforest centre. Did nightwalk here, too. Promiscuous monkey trip well worth the money too. Staff are so helpful with anything you need. Highly highly recommend.

Absolutely nothing to moan about here.

Having read some of the reviews on here I was slightly cautious ahead of arrival. I can absolutely say most of the negatives were debunked easily. The property is absolutely wonderful, about 10-15 minutes by foot from the main attractions. The staff were all incredibly attentive and kind, checking in regularly at meal times and giving excellent guidance and directions - thank you Mimi in particular on reception for getting everything booked for us. The rooms (we got a deluxe lodge) are comfy, with good aircon and facilities including a mini fridge. It was lovely to sit out on the balcony and watch the rain cascade down. The outdoor shower works perfectly, and very warm water. We had a little bat above our balcony who could be heard at night, you really do feel like you’re in the wild! The dinner in the restaurant was superb, especially the tofu. Yes breakfast is basic but it’s everything you need to fuel you for the day. A friendly reminder that you are in the middle of the rainforest, if you manage your expectations accordingly you will be right as rain here!

The city tour run by the hotel was the only thing i’d suggest passing up on - it only includes a driver rather than a guide. Get a grab into town if you have an extra day after seeing the animals to see the memorial park in any event, it’s worth it!

Solid clean room Good balcony Nice shower - although it had a fault most of the time so it was cold. It was like a Power one with digital display. Super close to the animal sanctuaries.

Cold water Breakfast same every second day - limited choice Late checkout (12) not possible. They want you out at 11 sharp which is fine - but they remind you, a lot. Taxi the hotel book you are expensive and unreliable Grab works fine. I read lots of reviews saying they don’t go / come that far. I had zero issues Even with food delivery the on site food is super over priced.

Beautiful chalet rooms with friendly and helpful staff that are very accommodating. We initially had a mix up with the rooms but the staff quickly resolved this. The food was fantastic. The location is ideal for the orangutan rehabilitation and sun bears (only 10 minutes walking). Such a relaxing stay with the sounds of the rainforest to wake you up in the morning. Overall a great stay and I would book again.

The food is really great but more expensive compared to other restaurants in the area, such as the white house bistro. However the quality of the food was lovely so we were happy paying this.

The property was set out beautifully with an open plan dining area looking over the forest edge. We stayed in a dorm room, which was clean, well maintained and the mosquito screens in good condition. A breakfast buffet was provided and the food at the restaurant was of a good standard. In line with other reviews, the staff were friendly and made our stay pleasant.

The dorm room did become quite warm in the day, and while cooled by fans, would have been made more comfortable in the day and early evenings by having air conditioning. The restaurant, while great food, was expensive compared to other options in the area.

Beautiful scenery and great location. Comfortable, quiet room, no daily cleaning. Nice restaurant with very good food, kind service, beautiful setting on a terrace. Reception staff very kind and helpful. I wish the communication would have been better before arrival. I had several questions regarding programs and dynamics around the stay ahead of arrival, and the answers were delayed and not detailed enough. Thus, I’ve made the mistake to hire a driver suggested by the previous hotel in Sandakan to take me to Sepilok and drive me to Kinabatangan, which was absolutely unnecessary.

The grounds are gorgeous and the location is perfect for Sepilok and the Rainforest Discovery Centre - both a short walk. I had a lovely meal in the restaurant for dinner in the evening. The staff were incredibly helpful and arranged a canopy night walk for me - I did some laundry, everything was really great. I’d definitely stay again if I’m back in the area.

I stayed in a dorm room (I actually had it all to myself) If it had been full there really wouldn’t have been much space for four people and their luggage. The bathroom is basic but absolutely fine. It’s no frills - but I paid £9 GBP including breakfast and can’t fault it at all!

Our first couple of days in Borneo and an ideal start. Glamping was fun as sleeping surrounded by jungle and the tent facilities were excellent. Don’t expect anything more than mood lighting. The bathroom is a small building separate to the tent but bang next door. Delightful and responsive staff including dealing with what turned out to be an old squirrel’s nest behind the air conditioning unit! Plunge pool was a highlight for us all but especially the two children. Great food. To my surprise there was - limited - alcohol available and we enjoyed a bottle of Italian red wine albeit at UK restaurant prices. Easy reach of the Sepilok Sanctuary. What’s good enough for Dame Judi Dench was good enough for us!

Fruit squash for breakfast rather than decent juice. Since being there we’ve had an abundance of amazing juices and it’s a shame to offer watery thin liquid instead. We were also not shown all the facilities including the second WC as part of the bathroom block.

Delightful. We had booked a standard chalet but were upgraded to a deluxe and very nice it was too, situated up on the hill with a wow-factor view of the trees from the balcony. All very comfortable. Decent air con, too. We enjoyed the plunge pool very much, and relaxing with a drink while watching the birds from the beautiful (covered, but outdoor) restaurant deck was wonderful - even when the heavens opened as they do in Borneo (each room is supplied with an umbrella which is a lovely touch). Dinner and lunch were much better than breakfast - the latter was very mixed in quality, but our meals the previous day were very enjoyable. The staff are absolutely terrific - friendly and very helpful, going way out of their way for us. Useful information: I’d read various reviews mentioning that although it’s easy to get a Grab *to* the area, it’s a different matter when it comes to getting one *from*. Our departure was time-sensitive as we were catching a flight so I took the precaution of booking a taxi via the hotel. Although obviously more expensive than a Grab, it was very fairly priced and was utterly reliable - the taxi was ready and waiting for us when we turned up, even though we were actually a little early. Unfortunately the hotel jungle trail was closed for repairs while we were there, but the rest of the grounds that we could wander through were gorgeous, and it really is walking distance to the orangutan and sun bear centres.

Lighting in the room leaves a bit to be desired - rather dim and no bedside lamps, and the shower drainage was a bit sluggish although the shower itself was great - hot and plentiful. They served the tiniest Americano coffee I have ever seen - two mouthfuls! (I did check to make sure that they hadn’t misheard and given me an espresso instead!) Breakfast, as I mentioned above, was very mixed in quality. Overall, the negatives are pretty minor - I’d happily re-book :)

Very beautiful location, and friendly staff. I liked the dining area, where you can sit and play games. The outdoor shower was great! The staff helps you with your luggage and that’s a great service to offer. The huts are very nice, but there is a few things that would make the experience a lot better, fx the mirror in the bathroom is useless when the only thing you can see is your stomach, unless you are a kid. Put the mirror in the room, you don’t have to have a mirror the the bathroom, and more hooks to put clothes on in the room would also make it more enjoyable.
