The fresh food was excellent, and so is the staff. All of them were very friendly and more than willing to help. And our guide Kai has a tremendous knowledge of the wildlife. He was more than willing to tell a lot of it, to stop when we saw an animal even when it didn’t fit the schedule. Kai and his boatmen where very enthusiastic and saw over and over again wild animals even before we even thought about it. We did several tours both day and night. And on every tour we were able to see different animals. We have had a great time!

Room is dark and what you'd expect from a chalet, it's cute no WiFi in the rooms. No where really to sit outside which was unfortunate. Location to sanctuary/RDC were ideal for us as we walked to both. Food was ok, expensive and lacking, a lot wasn't available. Pool was good, but seating options around it were lacking all of the furniture was broken and only two parasol available
Was charged 100 for a transfer from the airport, when our return journey through grab was 40.. Soo many staff sitting around doing very little, when to me there were many things that could be done. Considering everyone staying were there on nature tours, nothing there was sustainable, no solar panels, powering lights, all of the amenities were from China in plastic (could you not work with locals to produce soap etc).

This is a beautiful little haven and we were sad to only stay one night! We really felt like we were in the rainforest - the resort is full of well cared for plants and flowers, and the lodges themselves are very well thought out (and quite memorable!) The staff were super friendly and helped us out with various trip admin, and it has a very solid restaurant for dinner. Hard to fault this place and would recommend to anyone looking for calm and a bit of luxe before going deeper into the rainforest (as we did!) Super close to all the activities in Sepilok too
Nothing! It’s wonderful.

Perfect place to stay to visit the orangutans and sun bears - a gentle 20 minute walk to work off breakfast. The pool is very well maintained and just what you need in the heat of the afternoon. Mealtime can be accompanied by the in-house karaoke specialist who really should be on Malaysia's Got Talent (if that exists). The chalets are a reasonable size, though the aircon doesn't work in the bathrooms (at least in ours) and the beds are rather hard. Very helpful staff and good food, together with an excellent supply of chilled Tiger beer.
Chalets could do with some maintenance, but that's not surprising given the challenges of maintaining wooden structures in all that rain and humidity.

Lovely place, real sense of being in the jungle, nicely-done rooms, very lovely staff. It’s pretty rustic but perfectly comfortable - we ate out in the evening in a place just 10 mins walk away which was great, but we breakfasted at Sepilok and spent a couple of lovely evenings sitting on our room terrace listening to the jungle. Nice enough pool. One night there was a local ‘family day’ event on which was lovely to be able to watch - lovely atmosphere.
Pretty rustic - see above - perfectly fine for us though, we don’t like 5* cosseting too much. Hot water was in short supply - chilly showers on one of the days we were there. You don’t mind this so much given it’s so warm, but for the money maybe we’d expect hot water. But overall - nothing not to like

Pool, setting, location and staff were all fantastic. Everyone was so friendly and perfect place to stay to go to the sanctuaries and rainforest discovery centre. Then after long hot days you could go in the pool and relax amongst the marvellous gardening and jungle.
Unfortunately the dorm building was very echoey. This meant slamming doors, children screaming, hairdryers and talking were even louder and more disruptive than usual. Hostel etiquette was also quite lacking and the noise went on late into the night and started early in the morning. Maybe some signs asking not to use the hair dryer/ talk loudly after 10pm, some slow close doors and not letting children under 5 stay in the dorms would have made it a more peaceful stay.

Close to Rain Forest Discovery Centre, you can walk to and from which is handy for Night Walk. Easy to get a Grab to Sun Bear and Orang Utan Centres. Also recommend getting a Grab to ‘The Nest’ restaurant for lunch (yummy burgers). Many tour groups stay at BSRR but we found in general to be quiet with tranquil gardens. Pool was a bonus, as very hot in Sepilok during the day. Fairly basic, rustic accommodation but aircon worked well and the room we booked did the job for 2 nights stay. Reasonable 12 noon checkout meant we could have a swim and shower before our flight. Breakfast included, but few choices. However we ate dinner here both nights and enjoyed the homely Malay food.
Light globes need to be replaced. No hand towel for handwashing. Many mosquitoes around so keep bug spray handy. But we are in the Borneo Jungle after all! 🙂

- the staff were very friendly and always willing to help. - the dorms were clean and comfortable. We were the only ones staying in the room! - the pool was lovely and refreshing on the hot days we stayed. - food was reasonably priced which was good considering there are no restaurants nearby.
- Not the property’s fault but there are no ATMs nearby so make sure you bring cash as most the local attractions don’t accept card. - We asked for price of laundry 3 times and were told “I’ll get a price but maybe 70” for the 2 bags of washing we had. This is very steep and so we asked to only do half of one bag and get back to us with price. They sent it to laundry without telling us price then charged 80 for only half a bag! Laundry wasn’t even turned the right way out let alone folded. Very expensive for poor service (although quite sure this was outsourced but would rather have held onto washing and got it done at our next hotel which only charged 10 per kg). - There was never any toilet roll in the ladies toilets next to the dining area.

Walking distance to Rainforest Discovery center, orangutan sanctuary and sun bear sanctuary!
When we booked online it said that there were only two beds left. We imagined that we were coming to a full booked dorm - turned out we were alone. Actually we were the only ones there the first night and it was 4 bedrooms with bunk beds. Not so fully booked after all.. Beside us there were several big travel groups and you didn’t get the tranquil vibe. To add on to this the staff held karaoke shows and others came to the mic to get their shot at the microphone. This was also the only place they had wifi so you had to endure their lousy karaoke. The food also needs improvement - tasteless and mediocre, and the restaurants closes at 830pm. It also would be nice if the cleaning happens more often - so many employees and still the trash/toiletpaper/etc wasn’t taken care of.

Staff were absolutely amazing! So friendly and caring. Food was great and the overall resort was beautiful. Perfect location between Sandakan/ Sandakan airport, the rainforest centre and the orangutans/sunbears. Really enjoyed my time here.
Would be nice to have mosquito nets added to the dorm beds as there were a lot around.
