I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to Tony，the manager of The Firefly Resort Semporna. Tony is not only warm and hospitable but also arranged transportation for us to the town and the airport, which was incredibly thoughtful! Additionally, I appreciate his help in fixing the wheels on our luggage, resolving our concerns. I would also like to extend a special thanks to the Malay lady at the front desk who speaks Chinese. Her presence made us feel very warm and welcomed. Every interaction with her was a comfort. Moreover, I want to thank manager Daniel for personally driving us to the clinic at night, showing great concern for our health. His arrangements for deep-sea fishing and recommendations for delicious restaurants and hiking trails enriched our trip immensely. Of course, I must also thank the chef at Firefly and the enthusiastic young waiter in the restaurant, whose warm service made our dining experience delightful. Lastly, the professionalism of the drivers ensured our travels were safe and comfortable. If I return to Semporna, it will certainly be because of their warmth and loyalty! Every moment spent here has brought me immense happiness. Thank you once again to everyone! I hope to see you all again on my next visit!

The resort is in a beautiful, peaceful spot surrounded by nature, which feels like such a nice escape from the busy town. The free hourly shuttles made it really easy to get in and out of Semporna, and arranging pickup through WhatsApp was super convenient. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and far enough from the dining area that we couldn’t hear the karaoke at night. Speaking of which, the karaoke was actually a lot of fun when we joined in and made it easy to meet other guests. Breakfast and dinner were both very tasty, and on our last day the manager thoughtfully packed us an early breakfast with coffee, toast, jam, bananas, biscuits, crackers, and more, which was such a nice touch.

The resort is situated about 15 min drive out of Semporna, in a plantation. Semporna itself is not a nice town, therefore I was glad I was not staying in town. The rooms are lovely. Very clean, good lighting, comfortable bed, well working ac, soap, toothbrush, comb etc. available. The girl working at the reception is lovely and helped organize transfer from the harbour to the resort (which was free) and from the resort to Tawau airport as well as a last minute trip to Bohey Dulang, Mantabuan and Sibuan. Being so far out of town, the operate a free shuttle to Semporna which was amazing. The reception girl reliably told me which car will pick me up where and when. The tropical garden around the rooms is lovely and the restaurant was good.

A Hidden Gem in Semporna!" The Firefly Resort is a paradise above the sea! The breathtaking restaurant set up with high roof and wood designed tables, chairs and bars, and impeccable service make it an unforgettable experience. I loved the eco-friendly approach and the dedication to preserving the local forest life as I could see squirrels jumping outside my room during my walk to and back my room.. and could a some fireflies at the darkest areas of the pathway. New Year's Eve (NYE) night part was exciting and fun with a live band where you can ask for your favourite songs, a spectacular light show , decorations for NYE . Food was incredible with free flow tiger prawns, roast lamb, grill beef, clams ,crabs , butter chicken, and more .. drinks were free flow beer and Sarawak beer whee I can't get anywhere in Semporna. Fireworks were so long for 1hour in total of 6 sets of fireworks. Tons of people. Bedrooms were clean and the mattress was of highest quality that I can sleep immediately like in Hilton . Staff were so helpful, people there were so friendly. Can't wait to come back!

I prefer to see more animals than squirrels, fireflies , talking bird .

Comfortable relaxed gardens style resort with super helpful and friendly staff who went out of their way to make sure we were okay. Thoughtful touches such as hairdryer, toothbrush kits etc provided. Relaxed lounge and dining area for guests to use with karaoke at night.

Breakfast for Westerners could have been a lot better with more provided. If you arrived towards the end of the breakfast time there was none left and kitchen was closed.

Amazing value for money Wonderful staff- the general manager is incredible Food is absolutely delicious Open bar and restaurant area is great Monday night turned into karaoke with a really fun vibe and the owner giving us free drinks! Easy check in, check out, tour bookings and shuttle to Semporna

Breakfast could have more variety Shame that the restaurant is only open in the evening!

Firefly is a lovely place. The staff are really helpful and it’s in a great natural environment. We had a car so it was easy for free parking and travel to and from Semporna. We left very early to drive to Kota Kinabalu so took a packed breakfast from the breakfast buffet. Lovely place and lovely people.

We loved the gardens, restaurant, layout, a relaxed and safe sanctuary after visiting Semporna and islands during the day. Saw fireflies at night too. Great free transport service to and from town, helpful to organise a car to the airport etc. Food was excellent too.

It was lovely that it was a bit out of town , as it felt like a small oasis amounts the business of Semporna- the staff were very accomodating to all our needs snd the shuttle bus made getting in snd out of town so easy

Comfortable rooms Quiet location You can see the fireflies, make sure to ask the staff for direction. The staff is super nice and helped us book tour for islands hoping. Free shuttle service!
