This beautiful lodge in the foothills about 15 minutes north of Oaxaca City is an idyllic spot. The grounds have been lovingly decorated with trees and shrubs covered with colorful flowers that attract butterflies and hummingbirds. We were upgraded to the apartment with a kitchen, where you could view the birds right out the window. The bed was very comfortable, and bathroom is modern and spacious. There is a lovely little restaurant on site with tasty Oaxacan food at reasonable prices. Last but not least, the hosts are about as perfect as possible- friendly, helpful, truly proud of their property and happy to share it. We will definitely return!

You really need a car to stay here. Public transportation is not a great option.

We loved Huayapam Y'u'u and especially enjoyed the beautiful, traditionally styled courtyard with sweeping vistas for morning tai chi and evening meals after restaurant hours. Ours was a corner 'apt' room with a fantastic outdoor kitchen, comfortable bed and beautifully styled bath/shower. We were greeted with a large beautiful bowl of fresh fruit, and had delicious meals throughout our stay, both at the lodge's restaurant watching the hummingbirds out the window, and in our 'apt' kitchen with food they'd reserved for us after hours. Fernando and Fernanda are gracious and thoughtful hosts, always a step ahead as to our comfort and needs; sorting transportation, scheduling massages (and the extraordinary temezcal steam), and even accommodating our need for an early breakfast before a day trip. If you're the kind of guest who appreciates a place that blends tradition with care, beautiful landscape, and tons of artful details you will not be sorry choosing this special place.

We loved everything -- we quickly got used to occasional fireworks from the village, and loved hearing and the next door burro braying;)

We stayed for 3 days in this little paradise very close to Oaxaca. Close enough to go for a day in the city but in the middle of nature. The small village has enough restaurants to entertain you and the cocktailbar is amazing. Also a perfect spot for day trips to highlights like Hierve el Agua, Milta, various Mescal distilleries etc. Like many others said, the food is absolutely fantastic. It’s hard to describe the excellence. Fernando and Fernanda are very welcoming and great hosts. We can not recommend it enough.

The only thing that would improve this place is when the restaurant would be open for diner. The food is to good to just eat it during the day.

A quiet and calm setting outside Oaxaca yet close enough for easy cab access into the city center. The lodge is quite LOVELY, as is the setting, and the staff is attentive and welcoming, providing excellent care. Breakfast was always fabulous and my favorite time of day there. An assortment of hot drinks where I fell in love with Chocolate Atole! Scrumptious and beautifully presented breakfasts and dinners of healthy and fresh ingredients. Hearty or light - you choose. Look forward to returning next year!

We loved our stay at Fernanda & Fernando’s lodge boho-chic style in the middle of flowers, greenery and eclectic decorations. We first stayed in a double room then moved for the last 2 nights to the room with king bed and kitchen, which is a worthwhile upgrade. The hosts and their staff work hard to keep this huge compound welcoming and clean, it seem to have further expansion plans. We could not use the beautiful pool as water was a bit cold (normal during this season) and did not eat at the restaurant as it closes at 5-5.30pm, too early for us after spending the day visiting the region. The village of Huayapam is an excellent surprise. Great location just 30min from Oaxaca center and easy starting point to visit Monte Alban, Mitla, Arrazola, Hierve el Agua and so many other fascinating places. Tiny but super cute with amazing restaurants, esp the family run Luz de la Luna (we live in Peru and the food and cocktails are at the level of some best Lima restaurants). Huayapam and its friendly inhabitants are worth being much better known and supported! Mil gracias y suerte!!!

Not having had time to taste food of the lodge.

Our stay was wonderful! The place was beautifully decorated with great attention to detail, creating a warm and arty atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious, and every meal felt thoughtfully prepared. What made the experience even more special were the incredibly kind and welcoming people who made us feel right at home.

The only small downside was that the bed was a bit too short for our Dutch height, but everything else more than made up for it. Highly recommended!

It is a really magical spot with beautiful views and gardens, a spa for massages , lovely couple that owns it who speak english and answer all questions - and a nice restaurant - very clean, stylish and comfortable room - it's a great place to take a break -

Breakfast is not till 9 - it is open for lunch but for dinner you need to eat in the small town and the best place closes at 6 - after 6 not very many choices - (but there are a few ) without a car you are limited in terms of what to do - but you can taxi to local sights -

This lodge is located about 30 minutes from Oaxaca de Juarez, off the beaten path. A place to relax, curl up on a hammock to read a book by the swimming pool, enjoy the scenary ( full mountain views) foliage and flowers, their friendly cats and dog and delucious meals. The beautiful decor of the rooms are typical authentic Oaxacan. The owners Fernando and Fernanda over extended themselves to us - laundry, served us dinner in our room, helped with airplane and taxi reservations, not to mention showing us around their property where there are additional apartments for rent, huge pottery workshop. They offer a Pre-hispanic experience: temazcal massage and sauna in a clay made igloo. Using local herbs to heal. It is similar to a sweat lodge used to cleanse one's body of toxins and negative energy. It is quite rustic, which adds to the experience. I can't say enough about the quality of our stay and its offerings. WE LOVED IT HERE!!! We definitely will return in the future.

Because I did not speak Spanish, it was difficult to communicate with the temezcal lady and as a result did not understand the entire purpose of her cleansing ritual.

The lodge is lovely and well maintained. It is peaceful and within walking distance of trails and a charming village. The restaurant on site has many offerings including both traditional Oaxacan cuisine and creative dishes. The massage and temescal treatment is highly recommended. The lodge is clearly a labor of love and the owners are gracious and helpful.

Tranquil, at the edge of town with some nice restaurants nearby, lots of natural sounds day and night

It could improve by putting mosquito mash in the windows or provide nets for the beds because the rooms could get quite warm but opening doors and windows would invite the all in.
