The location is spectaular: quiet, away from the hustle and bustle and amazing views. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The food was delicious: good portions and so tasty and fresh.

The communication from the lodge regarding logistics: how to get there, if by self-driving, then making guests aware that there is a 'shuttle' boat avaible at an additional cost as it is not possible to drive to the lodge. If flying in from Maputo, then then there is a boat transfer available at an additional cost.

This is a hidden gem. I have been to beaches and lodges in Asia before and nothing, absolutely nothing compares to the wonderful Machangulo beach. In the lodge, the staff is 10/10 (all speak English and Portuguese fluently), the food is AMAZING and the suites are PERFECT. I recommend doing the activities the lodge offers, specially snorkeling -- I felt as if I was inside the little mermaid movie seeing all these wonderful creatures under the sea. Paulo, the guide is super amazing. If you are not confident enough, he holds your hand throughout, but he makes sure that you get the experience which you paid for. I cannot wait to return to the Machangulo Beach Lodge. All the best to Mr. Jose and all of his team.

Overall the site, staff and chalets were terrific. The view from our room was lovely and we enjoyed the privacy. We took the snorkeling/lunch on the beach option and loved it. We did not feel rushed, the boat driver and the snorkeling guide worked hard and the lunch arrived with warm sandwiches, fruit and veg. We loved it. They even helped me squeeze in a little kayaking, so much appreciated.

The late departure from Maputo, 3PM, and the early departure from Machangulo (8AM) seriously cuts down the amount of time guests have to enjoy their time at the property. We opted to pay for the private morning boat which gave us almost another full day. That added expense was considerable and we did not regret making that decision. However we definitely feel that value for money would have been greatly enhanced if the arrival and departure times were adjusted by even a couple hours.

This is a place to go when you need to rest and rejuvenate. The resort is serene. The low number (10) of chalets at the resort make is very private and the service is great. The staff is ready and excited to help. The food is good. The thicket make the chalets almost hidden from each other. There is no noise at then resort so you can hear the ocean waves 24/7. The view to the ocean is beautiful. The stairway from the beach to the chalets and everything in between helps with some physical exercise 😁 though its painful 😣.

I like everything except I am not sure if any of the chalets are accessible by wheelchairs though and this could be a disadvantage if a person has a physical disability

The location if this Lodge is fantastic and the views are gorgeous. The staff is very helpful and takes care of your needs well. Room are spacious, bed comfortable and the shower are fantastic. Our room had two showers: one indoor and one outdoor with fantastic views of the water. They do your room twice. Free tea/coffee in the room and also free drinking water in the room everyday. Breakfast and dinner was included in the room rate and both were fantastic. The hotel offers several activities, so there are plenty of options. We loved the lunch picnic on the beach and the snorkeling.

Bulky pillows, safe didn't work in our room ( it wasn't necessary).

We liked everything about the lodge. The service was amazing and the staff very friendly. The food was excellent with a different selection of food everyday. The rooms were cleaned everyday and at night while we were having supper they could come and opne the net around our bed. We felt like royalty. I would rate this resort six stars!

There's nothing we didn't like.

A pearl nestled among the dunes. Watch the sun rise over the Indian Ocean or the sun set with Maputo in the distance. Staff is fantastic and always available to assist. Food was great. The villas are secluded and the views from the terrace is spectacular. We’re definitely coming back!

Excellent location only 1 hour from Maputo. Good rooms and attentive staff.

The boat transfers to get there are extremely expensive. $80 US dollars each way per person which adds a significant cost to the trip
