Parkhotel Horst exceeded my expectations. In my opinion, it deserves five stars, not four. The staff is polite and attentive, the service is excellent, and the food in the restaurant is both delicious and elegantly presented. Dining with a view of the lake is a real treat. The bed was large and very comfortable, and I appreciated the high-quality Rituals toiletries.

The only slight downside was the wellness area: swimwear is required in the pool, but not allowed in the saunas, and the outdoor sauna area is visible from the hotel grounds. It’s a bit awkward, but really just a minor inconvenience.

Overall, the hotel in Venlo was quite nice. There was a small pool and a sauna area, which we appreciated, although not everything was working perfectly — for example, the steam room didn’t produce enough steam to be effective. The location is lovely, with a park and a lake nearby, which sounds ideal in theory. However, while the lake is close, it’s not really suitable for swimming. There are a lot of ducks and geese living there, and unfortunately, the entire lake area is heavily soiled with bird droppings. We were told at reception that swimming is allowed, but honestly, it didn’t feel safe or hygienic. I’m not blaming the birds — they’re just living their lives — but I do think it's important for future guests to know this in advance. If you're looking for a beach day by the water, this might not be the right spot. Another issue we had was dinner. We waited over an hour and a half for our food, with a small child, and it turned out our order had simply been forgotten. We were cold, the baby was cold, and we ended up sitting there until almost 9 PM. Yes, they brought us some complimentary fries, and the staff were kind and friendly overall, but if I hadn’t asked about our food, I don’t think anyone would have noticed. Despite these issues, there were still things we enjoyed — but hopefully this helps others set the right expectations before booking.

The steam room in the spa area didn’t work properly — there was barely any steam, so it wasn’t really effective. Although the lake is nearby, it's not suitable for swimming. There are too many ducks and geese, and the area is heavily covered in droppings. We were told it was okay to swim there, but it really didn’t feel safe or clean. Dinner service was very disappointing. Our order was completely forgotten, and we had to wait over 1.5 hours with a small child. No one noticed until we asked. While we were offered free fries as an apology, the experience was frustrating and uncomfortable.

I had a very good stay for 1 night with my husband, we too the tower suit and I was surprised to see that the room is exactly pr even better that the photos , its luxurious , lots pf space and very well decorated . The only downside is that there is no noise isolation , so all night long we could hear very well the cars across the street . And that affected the atmosphere and was a bit of struggle . We also had breakfast included, I believe that breakfast could improve way more. But beside that great experience.

We liked that the hotel was situated close to the motorway, easy to access for our break from our long journey home. The room was spacious, we enjoyed the view over the lake. Staff at check-in were friendly and informative. The pool and sauna were a big bonus for us and we enjoyed spending time there.

We had a coffee in the room and noticed that the sugar sachets were very hard, perhaps old. The shower gel in the bathroom smelled beautiful. However, it was attached by the sink, and there was no other shower gel in the shower. We unpacked our own shower gel, a bonus would be, though, if there was shampoo and shower gel in the shower.

Great family hotel! The location is surrounded by nature next to a lake with a beach, with trails for walking and biking. There's even a pet farm across the lake. Our 3-person family room was large and comfortable. The bathroom was modern, clean and had bathroom amenities (which many hotels don't provide these days). The breakfast was very nice with a good variety of products. We made use of the indoor swimming pool with our kid and he really enjoyed it. It is also very handy being able to rent electric bikes to explore the area. All the hotel staff were very kind and helpful. Overall a great stay.

The only thing I would have liked is to have a mini fridge in the room to keep drinks cold.

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel was very quiet at night.

The service at the bar wasn't great. Although the staff were friendly, no one came to take our order or offer us a menu. A friend also found small fruitflies in his drink, but the member of staff said it was from the orange on the glass as decoration and wasn't flies. No alternative drink was offered.

What I will say about this hotel is in a very good location and is a great hotel clean and comfortable beds really recommended

Maybe the pool opening hours would be much better to open a bit earlier. I was leaving the hotel at nine o'clock, I could not use the swimming pool as it was opening at 10 o'clock.

the hotel in general was very good. The location is perfect. Breakfast is very good. However the coffee was hard to find. the pool and the sauna where good too

It was dissapointing that there was construction work in the hotel. Although this is to improve the hotel it was anoying. This caused that there was no fridge in the room and only a mobile airco. I hate that there is only electricy in the room when the badge is in the slot. so you can not charge your devices when you are away. Not even a dummy card worked. Please stop this nonense in this kind of higher class hotels. I was also disappointed that jaccuzi part in the pool was not working.

Everything. The breakfast was very nice. We loved having our breakfast with a lake view. The hotel is situated in a natural park, and walking around the lake was awesome.

Nothing. The air conditioning in our room did not work properly on the first night of our stay. However, after we informed the management, they quickly changed our room and resolved the problem.

The staff are exceptional, friendly, and proficient. there is no phone in the room to call customer service but with such staff i didnt need to a phone. Breakfast was phenomenal and the coffee. food is really good too.

Rented regular bike and the seat was awful gave back pain. then rented electrical bike and it was good ( more expensive ofcourse) .
