This was one of norways best hotels thirty years shoe. It is still a very nice hotel on the decline. Breakfast is amazing and sometimes the price is very reasonable. Outdoor and indoor jacuzzi with two small pools, sauna and Turkish bath.
They have cut on personell so you risk a long line for checkin if you come after core hours. I suspect they also cut on maintenance, paint can be seen peeling off from our room and als from your view in the wellness. They do however have a datajanitor - obviously the installer was more a speed freak than a janitor. Admire the beautifully installed thermostat in the pool area - pure vandalism (yes look up and admire the complete ignorance for wooden panels when installing an excessively long cable) And BTW they do offer car charging, no maintenance and not great handywork - the Tesla charger is disconnected and the three 220 plugs look like they have been under the snow a few seasons (but seemed to work)

Located directly across from the train station, this is a grand old hotel with a lot of charm. I loved roaming the halls, looking at the photos, and reading up on the history of the property as a sanitarium and during WWII. Hiking up the mountains behind the hotel provides breathtaking views. The single room, though small, was very cozy and the bed was comfortable. A variety of cold and hot foods was on offer at the breakfast buffet. Last, but not least, the staff was very helpful and courteous.
As an older building, it’s definitely got its musty odors and dank corridors.

Good Norwegian spread of breakfast and a nice cooked selection of bacon, eggs and Mushrooms. Great bread and selection of cold meats and cheeses. Public areas are a bot 'modern' in an old building but fine. Fire side seating was nice but only 2 locations... Al la carte dining was excellent and the waiting staff fabulous.
Small cups and glasses. Fried eggs could have been cooked to order... Spa was a little sparse... Room cleaning was a tad hap hazard and we had to ask to get it done.

The hotel itself is lovely and it was a quiet place to stay when I had to stop driving because of an unexpected snow storm. The room was confortable and clean. The breakfast had a good variety of food . But the best thing for me were the employees at reception who helped me so much with all the information they provided me about roads and driving around there (it was my first time driving in snow and I was terrified), and they even gave me a blanket in case the road was closed on my way back home. If you guys are reading this, I got home safe and sound and I appreciate a LOT your help. You're the best! Thank you kindly 🤍

Lovely period hotel with so much history and facilities. Given room as requested, corner with two windows, nice view. Light and airy, comfortable, quiet. Fridge in room. Good breakfast, more than adequate variety. Lucky to get a park directly in front of the hotel. Central location, railway station nearby.
A kettle in room and the option of a blanket instead of duvets would be appreciated but understand in Europe this is not the norm.

I arrived an hour before my estimated check-in time and was kindly allowed to enter without any issues. The staff was very friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, which made the experience even more pleasant. Excellent service from the very beginning—I would definitely come back without hesitation.
Honestly, there wasn’t anything I didn’t like. Everything went smoothly and exceeded my expectations

The hotel is a fantastic place for a family vacation. We've thoroughly enjoyed and continued discovering hotel's little treasures, such as the library, the bowling alley, the shuffleboard in the Sports bar, the board games (with no pieces missing!!), the spa. The staff was friendly and professional. After many years of skiing in the Alps, skiing in Geilo was a positive surprise - excellent slopes and no crowds.
A few minor suggestions to overall very friendly and professional staff: * The meat in the Sports bar is occasionally under-cooked * Please make sure the reception staff has more info on skiing & activities in the neighborhood. E.g. they did not tell us one can pick up the tickets from the machine in the hotel lobby; not much advice where to eat outside of the hotel; etc.

The room was beautiful and very tastefully decorated. The hotel itself has a very old and rustic feel to it, like an old country house, but the rooms are modern and nicely decorated. It is located very close to the train station which makes getting to it simple, even with the unforgiving icy inclines of what is quite a hilly town. The Sports Bar is reasonably priced with really good quality, locally sourced food. The alcohol is quite pricy, but not ridiculous. The spa is excellent. I had a shoulder and neck massage and then had free access to the spa facilities which I really enjoyed. This hotel had everything I needed for a night of recharging before carrying on with my Norway tour.
The bathroom let the room down. The room itself is beautifully decorated, modern and very attractive. The bathroom fixtures are quite dated. I recognise that the hotel is over a hundred years old, and so wouldn't be perfect, but one of my favourite things about the hotel I stayed in before this was how delightfully clean and clear the water was. Unfortunately the old pipes meant that the water here had quite a lot of little blue specs in. Not a major issue, but not the best. It was frustrating that the double bed actually had two single toppers on it. They moved around and created an uncomfortable groove down the middle of the bed.

Breakfast was outstanding! Room itself was very nice and loved the historical nature of the building. Amazed at the size of this hotel! Sports bar had very good food ( had dinner during our stay) and the staff was very courteous.
Bathroom was very small but somewhat understandable with the age (1909) of the building and the difficulty of plumbing installations in these older structures.

Location was really close to the station which we needed as we had large suitcases. The layout and options for dining were fantastic (our waiter Noor was amazing). The spa, pool and sauna helped with unwinding and a relaxing stay.
We arrived in summer season with a very warm day/night. The insulation would be very handy in ski/winter season however, it really held the heat in summer. We opened the window and feel the rooms need a fan to provide more air for a comfortable sleep.
