This place is worth it just for the breakfast alone. I was impressed by the impressive spread of options, and everything was very good. It's a lovely dining room and the whole hotel has a very historic charm. You feel like you are in a mountain lodge, for sure, and the setting is beautiful. The staff was very nice as well.

The only real downsides were that there is no elevator, so if you have a room upstairs, you have to carry your luggage up a few flights. Also, the windows didn't open very far and it was a very warm spell. There were no fans or any way to move airflow, so it was a bit warm and uncomfortable for sleeping. It's not usually that warm in the mountains, but it was a surprisingly hot while we were there.

We had a good room with a magnificent view and parking right outside the door. Lia fjellhotel is fairly big, with a friendly staff. and seems to be a place to meet others and mingle in the vinter. We were there in the summer, when it was far from full. We found in our room a binder with suggested walking trips in the area around the hotel. Unfortunately we had already made plans and did not have time to try any of them.

There is a large wooden sign with the name of the hotel at a sideroad, so you may turn off instead of continuing. Lia Fjellhotel is at the very end of the road.

Quite a large family hotel near Geilo, a well-known Norwegian center of winter sports at the margin of Hardagenvida. The distance from Geilo can be aporximately 10 km by car. There was originally a farm at the place where the hotel is situated, it has its own ski slope with a lift and an access to two paths for skiing crosscountry, including one with lighting at night. Other paths can be easily reached by car. The landlord is nice and willing to help with the choice of activity according to your expectations.The breakfast was excellent, the dinner was for an affordable price and very large like a double portion in usual restauratnts and it consisted of three dishes. Gluten free diet wasn´t a problem. Since the high season in Norway happens mostly in the Easter period and there vere not many guests, I got an upgrade of my room free of charge. There was nearly always fire in the fireplace in the refectory contributing to a very cosy atmosphere.

A little bit unstable wi-fi in my room, but it had no impact on my overall impression.

In the dining area, there are a lot of animal statues.

On the way to the hotel, there is a sign board about the hotel, but without an arrow mark to show the direction. This board is on the left side of a road that goes I wrong direction. I got mislead and had to travel quite some distance in very bad roads, then reach dead end and then come back all the way, to find the correct path. Rooms need more Curtains to prevent sunlight.

The hotel owners - Knut Arne and Bjerge - were so friendly and caring. We went out of season and they were so attentive to us with meals, ski hire and lifts to the town. Knut Arne even helped our youngest family member to learn to ski and took us around the mountain on his snow mobile and to see the Moose and Deer. It was a truly magical place to stay and very family orientated.

The kitchen was just exceptional. At a differt table after dinner the person expressed that you have to write about this on the internet this is unknown and just a fantastic meal.

The place was just what we needed, but some may experience a place that are suffering from lack of manintenance wrt the buildings. Old fashion, 70/80 style everything working so no problem with that.

Cozy atmosphere, beautiful decor in the dining area, amazing buffet for breakfast and dinner. Good slopes for cross-country skiing starting straight from the hotel.

It would be nice to have a kettle to fill up thermos quickly instead of using a coffee machine. Billiard table was there, but some of the balls were lacking to fully enjoy the game.

The hotel is old but our room was clean and we were lucky to get an upgrade to a fjell suite. The breakfast was great and we loved the dinner. The hotel is located outside Geilo but with a car that is not a problem. We will certainly come back

Badroom is little outdated

Our suite room had a beautiful view of the lake, a balcony and it was quiet. The evening buffet was good value, and the house wine was good as well. Buffet breakfast was plentiful.

We prefer a double/queen bed and not two singles, but it was not a big deal.

Fabulous location with views over the mountains. The hotel owners were friendly and welcoming and provided huge buffets for the evening meal and breakfast. We were able to park our large motorhome outside our room and our Border Collie was able to mooch round outside, which made it very relaxing for us.

The room was very dated, rather dark.
